Loved the rustic feel of the courtyard room we stopped it. Almost like an American motel which was different for us. The staff were lovely and I had a lovely conversation with the manager/owner, who asked about our stay, how it was, if there was anything wrong which I thought was lovely.

There noise wasn’t ideal, could do with soundproofing the rooms more. The floorboards creaked LOADS with the people above walking around. The light that comes through with the light mornings isn’t nice, needs better blinds/curtains. With the noise from neighbours and the light combined, I was wide awake at 6:30 on a bank holiday Monday! Owner/manager did discuss improvements in the pipeline.

Lovely room. Very spacious and great for our small dog. Loved that there was even a dressing table and plug sockets. Lighting very good. Great location. Great staff - were very welcoming. The greatest compliment was my son said wish we could have stayed another night. Great grounds for exercising the dog. Stayed for the evening meal - very good. Breakfast also very good.

Did find that the previous occupant had left the bathroom cabinet with empty cider cans and a glass, but understand that the staff work so hard and overall one of the best places I’ve stayed and would definitely book again without hesitation. Poached eggs (as a previous review commented) would be fantastic rather than just fried and scrambled please.

The venue is set in a lovely location within a small village. There's a small fish and chip shop about a 5 min walk away with a Spar opposite- very handy. There are buses into Scarborough which run every 2 hours but you can drive- only a 10 min drive or 8 mins to Seamer Park and Ride, this seemed to be the best option. The property has two gardens, ideal for picnics, two entrances with parking spaces. The hotel feels very homely with a bar and restaurant, which were very busy. Our room was comfortable and spacious.

When the hotel is busy late at night- due to wedding guests etc, it can get loud outside, so we had to close the windows, not ideal when it's warm weather, but this is a minor thing!

Absolutely lovely friendly staff, both front of house and those working “behind the scenes”. Always had a warm welcome, especially from Matilda the beautiful Dachshund 😊

The bed was a bit too soft for our liking and due to the way the room was laid out, there was a very small gap between the end of the bed and the bathroom door. We felt so sorry for the poor girl serving breakfast on the Thursday. She was working single handed, trying to take breakfast orders, clear the tables as well as doing the washing up. It was absolute mayhem.

We were asked on booking if we would be bringing a dog, of which we said no, yet we found ourself with a family with a dog above our room that constantly barked on and off all night. I know dogs bark but this went on through the night and could also hear the floor creaking when the patrons upstairs were moving about and their conversations. It was very late when we returned to our chalet so there was no one to speak with regards this, so though the room was lovely and clean, and the staff we met when we checked it earlier were lovely, the sleep we got that night was very poor. I saw other empty chalets and just wondered why we hadn't been given one away from pets when stated on booking we would not be bringing a pet? But still a lovely place.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was a good size. The grounds are beautiful and very convenient for travelling with a dog. As a solo female traveller, it was important to find somewhere to stay that was truly 'dog friendly', and that felt safe, and this certainly hit the mark. Great location, only 10 minutes drive from some excellent hiking trails, and 5 minutes drive into Scarborough. Also managed to complete a hike in the Forge Valley woods. The bar area is very cosy and welcoming although I opted to stay outside to make the most of the nice summer weather.

The room was mostly clean, bedding was clean, but there was some grime in the bathroom. There were also hairs in the shower and bits of wrapper/packaging under the desk. Not a big problem as I could tell the bedding was freshly laundered which is the main thing for me.

Loved rural location; lots of parking; staff were just lovely on all occasions with nothing too much trouble; good bar prices; room looked out onto large garden and it was lovely to be able to open the window and hear the birds sing. Really comfortable room . Shower over bath but great pressure and lots of hot water. And all of this only 4 miles from Scarborough. This hotel I may not be high end but so suited us and we would recommend it

Hadn’t read the website carefully and restaurant not open Wednesday /Thursday. But they recommended a couple of places in village just 5 minutes walk away. Can recommend Denison Arms! We ate in Scarborough second evening. Full English Breakfast suited my partner well but perhaps they could provide a lighter but tasty option for those of us who might prefer that

What a lovely friendly welcome from the lady on reception. EV charger and disabled parking available. Beautiful grounds and friendly staff. The room was amazing. It was a suite with a four-poster bed and a separate twin room. Beautiful decor, light, and airy bathroom. Plenty of hot, water, and towels. Wall mounted shower gel and decent shower. I did not use the huge bath. Breakfast was lovely. Good quality ingredients and plenty of choice. Again, staff at breakfast were lovely.

I asked for a fan as it was extremely hot on arrival. Unfortunately, no fan was available. I opened the windows and closed the curtains to keep the room cool. There was no bottled water in the room.

Nice location, pretty hotel well decorated. Nice friendly staff. Lovely food. Catered for my food allergies. Free parking.

The room was very cold on the first night it felt like the heating was switched off at midnight. The second night however the heating was great. The room walls are very thin you can hear next doors conversations. Didn’t get much sleep on the 2nd night as a couple next door was arguing until the early hours. There were no menus for breakfast so was unsure of what we could order. I was told that I was limited on my cooked breakfast. I asked for three slices of bacon with eggs and beans. The girl stated that I wasn’t allowed to have that many even though I couldn’t have sausage or black pudding due to my allergies.

This was a lovely find and perfect for what we needed. We came to see a concert at the Open Air Theatre in Scarborough and couldn't recommend it more for the perfect location for this. The hotel room was spacious, very clean and had everything we needed. The staff were very friendly and if we booked something in Scarborough again would 100% use this hotel again.

The only thing was it would've made it a little easier if at checking in it was explained how you get in when the doors were locked as it took us a while to realise we needed to use the fob!
