We loved Forss house! The rooms were clean,, spacious with a really comfortable sofa to relax in too. The bathroom was huge! In addition to the walk in shower,, there was a huge bath to relax in to soak the cares of the day away. We dined in the restaurant and it was exceptional! However,I feel the customer service is the one area that makes this property a stand out Due to unforeseen circumstances, we arrived beyond check in time. However, staff were made available to ensure we could check in. seamlessly. Thank you to all at Forss house, you are a wonderful team!

We stayed in the kiln house, right next to the waterfall, which was an incredible experience - gave a whole new meaning to the phrase, a room with a view. The staff were courteous and helpful, and I recommend eating dinner at the restaurant, as the food was excellent. A special mention to Sandra and Janet, who served us breakfast. They especially made breakfast an enjoyable experience; nothing was too much trouble for them. We will definitely return.

One small complaint, the lighting in our bedroom was very dim. A brighter globe in the overhead lights would have been appreciated.

This is a lovely old house in beautiful grounds, with some modern extra accommodation in a separate building, which gave us spacious and very comfortable dog friendly accommodation. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the evening meal and breakfast of a high standard. There were some excellent walks for our dog around the grounds and along the river

The evening meal, although very good was expensive. The grounds surrounding the house were a bit overgrown and in urgent need of a gardener.

Room (Morven) was first class as was its location. Dinners were excellent in all respects. The environment and setting are special. Comfortable lounge and bar space are ideal for quiet relaxation. Conservatory gives pleasant views of the attractive garden and its bird life.

The availability of low/zero alcohol beers was limited to ONE, and not an especially good one at that. In this day and age that situation should be reconsidered asap especially as the range and quality of such beers etc are now so good and improving.

Incredible location, friendly staff and comfy spacious room in one of the mill house rooms separate from the main hotel. Very good value!

Could have had better directions to find the right door to go into our accommodation. We didn't dine here or have breakfast so nothing to say about the food. Plenty of options in Thurso if you don't mind nipping out to eat.

Driving up to the hotel we knew we were in for a wonderful stay driving through the trees to an idyllic setting. Our room looked out on the gardens and the river to the right and from the roll top copper bath ( though bath is not the right word as it was HUGE)😃you looked out on the that very view…gardens,woods and river…bliss. Staff were so so friendly and attentive in every way. Food was beautiful dinner and breakfast. Just a wonderful experience for us both on our 30th wedding anniversary a stay we will always remember with a smile.

The location was convenient for John O'Groats and plenty of car parking spaces. The waterfall nearby is worth a visit & photo shoot. Very warm welcome by the temporary manager & excellent restaurant which had a good choice for vegetarians.

Needs new windows throughout. The old sash wooden windows are rotting and some of the cords were broken.

We had a lovely stay in this very nice hotel. Our room was spacious and very comfortable with the most amazing bathtub that I have ever seen. It was traditionally decorated but had some fun quirky details which we loved. The linens were very high quality and the room had a lovely view over the gardens. Our dinner in the restaurant was delicious and we really enjoyed the friendly service provided by all the staff.

Super hotel with really lovely staff and amazing food.

No major dislikes. We stayed in the main house and could hear the plumbing from the room next door, but acknowledge that this is an old building and just part of its character. It would have been brilliant if the dinner menu could have had a slight variation on our second day.

Exceptionally pretty property, with a waterfall making the backdrop for what must be the singularly unique stay we’ve ever had!

The amenities in the room - well, I get the idea of the decor forming the ambiance for a stay in an old mill - but it doesn’t lend itself to much functionality. You didn’t have a wardrobe, for instance, that could be used. Having said that, for a short stay, it didn’t cause any issues.
