The best part about the property was I was able to park outside the reception door. Secondly there was a smart tv in the room and I also like the no need for keys as the door to the room, toilet and outside setting area were all operated by key pad with the codes being wrote down on the hotel card by the extremely friendly girl at reception who was also kind enough to direct to my room! There is a Wetherspoon in walking distance and many different takeaways and convenient stores right on the doorstep! Thanks Victoria Hotel for a great visit and I will definitely be coming back if I’m on that location again

Close to all amenities with keyless entry and the smart tv was a pleasant surprise

The work undertaken by the new owners is of a high standard and already reflects the vast improvement,development and modernisation of a building with such potential for great things. Super comfy bed and good shower 🤌 Staff were exceptionally helpful with my last minute urgent stay which was very much appreciated and made the evening there much more enjoyable and comfortable for me and my children.

The listed satnav address on booking.com took me just up road… a very small inconvenience which was easily sorted by calling the venue.

The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times and went above and beyond, making me feel very comfortable and welcome. Very reasonably priced, I believe that you actually get more than what you pay for. The rooms have a homely touch, not just your standard clinical hotel room. The property is secure with good security measures and there is always a member of staff on site. Before booking I was a little unsure due to some of the less positive reviews but I am glad I booked because I have now found my new go to for any future stays.

There was nothing that I didn’t like. For the price there is nothing I can complain about.

Small room and small toilet but good for single person for a quick night spend. Nice comfy bed with clean beddings. Tea and Coffee with kettle Fan, heater, TV Electornic code lock on each room 24 hour side door open to go in and out of hotel Shops nearby

Yes they did ask for ID and card details from me too like others. I think card details should not be asked, now I am a bit worried and will change card although virtual. Carpet was very old and need changing

Room was spotless & everything worked. Beds were really comfy and shower was great. Very little noise from inside or outside hotel. Plenty of shops / pubs etc just a short walk away Staff were very friendly, welcoming & helpful.

You have to park on the street which can get a little busy especially in the evenings as it is a residential area However, this is not the fault of the hotel

Value for money was excellent. The place wasn't the greatest but for the price I really cant complain. Staff were friendly and reception area was very good, clean and modern.

The bathroom had some issues which could be easily fixed. Toilet seat was completely loose and the shelf above the sink was sagging down to the point it was useless. The floor of the room didn't look like it had been hoovered in a long time.

The customer service at the hotel was excellent. The receptionist was extremely friendly and very helpful in answering my questions, as I had never been to Newport before.

It was extremely challenging to locate the hotel based on the information provided on booking.com. I was unaware that the hotel had changed its name from Old Victoria to Box Hotel. Additionally, the address provided on the booking.com website was very misleading and requires immediate updating. The process of locating the hotel was quite unpleasant.

New management I think,done the best to make it as comfortable as possible.

Not Parking but advertising as none fron the start, still very inconsistent. Noise main street view and noise neighbours. Maybe they should be more considerate when they allocate the rooms for travellers with young children.

Perfect location for what we wanted to do, rooms were clean, good value, let us check in at 2 in the morning and a decent kebab house next door

Location was great, easy access with codes.

On arrival there wasn’t a staff member at desk and had to call the number specified a couple of times, this caused slight anxiety as we thought we would be stranded, however this was easily dealt with by a very friendly lady,
