Lovely person behind the check in desk nice clean room and we enjoyed the swimming pool and the other facilities

Not happy with the price of the food on the evening menu £18.50 for a burger and chips that I think should have been £10 service not very good . Three of us in our party all ordered food the same time and same table number I was served first . I had to ask for cutlery and condiments I finished my meal before my 2 friends had been served when they're food came out the staff were walking around asking people if they had ordered then went to the bar to ask what table when the food arrived no cutlery again asked the waiter he went off somewhere waiting 2/3 minutes decided to get cutlery from a table in the restaurant poor service

The setting was perfect. The hotel appeared to be run down in general. Windows long overdue being replaced, one window didn't shut securely, wooden frame warped with age. Fire doors in all corridors left open! Major fire risk. Staff in the bar didn't apoear to know what they were doing. The best bit was the bed, this alone was worth the price. Reception staff were brilliant. Room service and cleaning staff were faultless. Regular tv channels were inaccessible in the room so tv viewing was limited in my room.

The bed, really had a good couple of nights sleep. Although the food was over priced it was good and served in good time from placing my orders. The reception staff were impeccable.

The hotel is perfectly situated with a massive space to walk and explore the estate, away from busy city life. I booked 3 rooms and we managed to get all of them in the Walton Hall building with ancient vibes and beauty. My room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully decorated. The bed was comfortable and massive. I especially loved the large windows that offered a gorgeous view of the skyline. The bathroom was large with heated flooring. We did not have dinner at the hotel, but their breakfast was exceptional. The leisure center was really good. We enjoyed a relaxing swim in the heated indoor pool, followed by some time in the sauna and steam room. Not forgetting the staff (Hi Chris), all the staff we encountered were really helpful. This was a five-star experience in every way.

Nothing to dislike. My stay was short but definitely booking this hotel again

The staff are really friendly and helpful, check-in easy and the room was really incredible in the old house. For the price I paid (£88) I could not have expected such a huge and comfy room with everything you need from tea and coffee making facilities, fan, iron and ironing board, mini fridge, soap and moisturizer, nice towels, good bedding and excellent super king bed (two singles actually but together as a super king). The bed had a topper too for added luxury and I'm bed-fussy but had a brilliant night's sleep. The grounds are incredible and perfect for dog walking. We never heard a sound from other guests all night which was probably due to the wonderful old building. It's very well maintained and the room was lovely and warm. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel so I can't comment on the food.

Only have one suggestion as the hotel is so dog friendly and that is where are the poo bins!? I did ask at reception but they didn't have an answer either. We ended up having to take the bag with us and finding a bin elsewhere. Worth knowing for other dog travellers. Maybe equip yourself with a Lock & Lock box for poo transport! Only other small dislike was the pillows were so flat and poor quality but at least there were enough to compensate!

The room was nice, however it was a little tired in places, which was a shame as it's a lovely building. Could be improved with some TLC. Shame we couldn't have a massage (as booked out). Staff very nice, but some were not very knowledgeable. Plenty of car parking spaces, which was great.

We were the first people to be in the restaurant (6pm), but we didn't receive our food till 7:10pm! They had prioritised a coach tour group before us (and a few other other tables). They should have given us a complimentary starter /drinks as apology - but unfortunately not. The desserts could have been expanded.

Room was very good, located in the old building. exactly the location where I booked it.

The bathroom was not proper clean, we found hair on the toilet. We booked a weekend with SPA relax, and when we got there on Friday, the staff at the SPA centre told us the hotel was fully booked and no appointments or treatments were available. The whole purpose of booking was to spend some time relaxing, instead of trying to find something elsewhere. I felt they were not really helpful trying to make our whole experience great, it was just a simple answer we are fully booked. not even sorry.

Breakfast it's self was excellent, hot and main breakfast items replenished regularly. Not enough seating for the amount of customers. Perhaps a booking time would help so everyone didn't turn up at peak times, or perhaps set up a conference room for overspill customers.

As Customers were using the bar area for breakfast, a seating area where people could move away from their restaurant table to sit have a coffee and chat, may have also helped with the volume at breakfast. There were two extra coaches arrived that should have been going to another hotel, this meant there were five coaches arrived at the same time an check in was chaos, with non coach bookings getting caught up in the mayhem. Perhaps their should be set times for coaches to arrive to give a better customer experience.

The room was amazing and the old hall was stunning

The staff require more training. Checking in took a LONG time with people queueing around Reception. Staff were slow but explained a new system had been installed. They have my sympathy but their inadequate training took the enjoyment out of our visit. People who had paid the extra £10 to use the Spa were walking around, between buildings, in their robes and slippers. I would have been very unhappy doing this, if I had been them. It was VERY disappointing that the only restaurant available was not to the standard expected and the menu was limited.

I met my son, he travelled from Manchester, I travelled from the South Coast, taking my 6 month old puppy. We stayed for one night and booked breakfast for Sunday morning. The twin room we were allocated was plenty big enough for us and had everything we needed. It also had doors onto a patio area which was ideal for the dog. We ate in the restaurant on the Saturday evening. The food was lovely. It was quite busy and maybe there could have been a couple more staff serving but the wait time was not excessive and not an issue for us at all. Dogs are allowed in the bar area and initially we tried to sit there with the dog but he would not settle so I returned him to the room and settled him there in his crate before returning to eat in the restaurant. We also did this on Sunday morning for breakfast, which was very nice and had everything you could need. The grounds are beautiful and ideal for walking in, I met numerous "locals" whilst out, walking their dogs in the area. We were blessed with very sunny, if cold, weather. We did not use the leisure facilities but my son did check them out and was more than happy with what he saw. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.

Nothing.

Hotel was spotlessly clean. The grounds are lovely to walk around. There was plenty of parking. Breakfast was brilliant. Food was hot and a great selection from full English breakfast, to continental, yogurts and juices. Special mention for BRUNO. I was originally allocated room 42 which didn't work out very well as there were a number of issues with it and the location. I spoke to Bruno at Reception the following morning and he swiftly moved me to 217, a free upgrade to a Privilege room. I had a great night's sleep once moved and thanked him for his help.

Apart from my original room allocation (42) nothing. It's a lovely hotel and a great location for exploring the local area.
