First of all the communication with Charlotte & Georgie was excellent - very detailed messages with recommendations for places to eat and how to get to the beach and high street etc. The location was perfect and easy to find - 2 min walk to the beach (although we walked along Monkey Beach for about 15 mins to West Mersey Beach), few min walk to the high street. The room was lovely - so well equipped with glass bottles of water, tea & coffee & biscuits, water glasses and champagne flutes, mugs, bowls (which I've not seen a room before but always need for the crisps we like to have with a drink before going out!), plates and cutlery, lap trays, an ice box outside filled, toiletries, fan, tv... We had a seafood lunch and a quick drink at The Victory and a really lovely meal at the Coach Inn followed by a stroll before bed. We were looking forward to breakfast at the Art Cafe but unfortunately it was closed on Sunday so we ate at another cafe (unfortunately the breakfast wasn't great...) We had a very peaceful weekend x

It wasn't a dislike, more of a personal thing but the bed & pillows was a little too soft for me (however my husband slept like a log)

The property was located in a good central area of West Mersea, close to the harbour and the town. The room was bright and spacious with an en-suite bathroom. It was well equipped with crockery, glasses, champagne flutes, towels, hairdryer, toiletries for shower room and soap, there is also a TV. Extra bonus a stand-alone fan was put in the room, which was greatly appreciated as it was a hot weekend. It definitely had everything we required for our stay. Charlotte and Georgie’s communication was superb throughout the whole process from start to finish. Highly recommend

Great location. Walking distance to the water. Great eateries. Friendly local people. Lots of walks - beautiful sunsets too - don’t forget to have breakfast or lunch at The Art Cafe in the village. Great food and Friendly staff - The Retreat is a great place to stay with TV. Comfy bed. full shower. Tea Coffee Water Soaps and Towels. Highly recommended for couple nights stay 😊

Beautiful setting, walking distance from plenty of places to eat and enjoy excellent seafood, plus local shops. Bedroom was very cosy, clean and the bed was the comfiest bed I’ve slept in for a long time. Haven’t had a chance to meet the hosts as yet but have been in contact via email and they have been extremely helpful regarding a few questions I had. Will definitely be back as soon as possible. The island is a great place to visit.

Very clean & relaxing space with vey helpful hosts who always responded promptly & helpfully to any queries. Good location near to beach, shops, cafes and restaurants (a couple of food seafood shacks and very good standard of food at the White Heart). Bumped into the hosts father a couple of times who was extremely friendly and provided good advice re where to visit .. highly recommend driving to East Mersea Flats where the beaches and walking are arguably nicer than those in West Mersea.

This is not a self-catering hut (which one could be forgiven for concluding it to be from first impressions from viewing the listing). There is no fridge or food preparation area, it is really just a bedroom and en suite bathroom. That said, there was a kettle, a good supply of tea bags and a couple of good quality coffee bags .. and a cool box outside the door which the hosts kindly refilled with ice daily, which proved most useful.

The location was perfect close to everything. The only thing I will say is when trying to contact the owner they didn’t answer as when I pulled up I was unsure where the location was , and I was in two minds if I pulled up on someone s drive , a sign post on the front of the property may help future customers other than that it was perfect

Very convenient location for Mersea Regatta weekend, within 10 mins walk of town and beach.

This accommodation is situated in the rear garden of a victorian villa in a mature setting. The beautiful tree that dominated this part of the garden renders the interior rather dark. No fridge.

We stayed here as decided on a last minute stay at the beach and what a find it was! Gorgeous little hideaway in the garden, lovely design inside. They have thought of everything, lots of tea and coffee was a bonus I recently stayed in a castle 5* hotel and the detail was better here!

The property was perfect for what we needed, very grateful for the fan as it was quite warm. Lovely little set up. I would recommend some coasters for the cups and nicer tea bags as they tasted funny and maybe a little fridge although there was a cool box and maybe some larger towels but would definitely recommend and we will be back😊

Room only. Location good. Peaceful. Clean. Nice linen/towels. Superior toiletries. Plates etc for bring back food/drink to the room a nice touch.

The bed was comfortable but every time one of us stirred the whole mattress bounced. A coffee/side table would have been useful, after we'd moved the tea tray from the bed the only place for it was the floor. I would have expected enclosed individual tea bags not loose (no idea what they were but didn't smell or taste like ordinary breakfast tea to me)
