My sister and I stayed at Harbinson House for 3 nights and loved every moment! We stayed in the Alice room which was perfectly decorated with everything from the story. Rhonda (and her lovely dog Taz) was an amazing host and showed us around the house and room when we checked in. She always made sure that we were comfortable during our stay and was available to text if we needed anything. I was also surprised to find a mini fridge and Keurig in the room and was provided with great amenities. Noise was not an issue at all, and even if you were bothered by the creaking floors or the cars outside, Rhonda has a stash of earplugs that you can use. Overall, it was one of the best unique places I've stayed in and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Sacramento!
We really don't have any complaints... The only thing I would say is that the room has a charging box with several USB-A ports to charge phones, which was great. Unfortunately, we both only had USB-C cords so we couldn't use it. It wasn't a big deal to us because there are other outlets we could use, but might be something to consider having something with USB-C ports as well.

This midtown mansion, beautifully appointed with an eclectic mix of history, creativity and art, was a complete surprise. When I arrived I was told I was in the "Alice in Wonderland" room. Lined with prints from the book on the wallpaper, the Wonderland room is filled with carefully selected antiques and artifacts that recreate iconic scenes from the story replete with Alice falling though the mushroom top, Mad hatters, flamingos, and rabbits. Cheshire cat grins and thoughtful whimsy add to the crafty messages, surprises and comforts. Imagination abounds! Rhonda was a wonderful host and gave great advice on how to navigate Sacramento back to the bay area.
The only thing missing, I admit I didn't ask for, were coffee pods and tea bags. The cream, sugar, appliances, cups, and teapots were there beside the chocolate and "Drink ME" water bottles! The Cheshire cat waited for a pet over my shoulder as I sat in the chair beside the little mouse light on the windowsill glowing over what could have been my cup of tea to accompany the provided chocolate chip cookies. I missed the baked goods others referred to. I couldn't find an outlet near the bed while working on my laptop but maybe I missed it. Would have liked a little bigger table next to the bed to hold my drink while watching TV.

Staying at the Harbinson house is a unique experience! Rhonda is a wonderfully kind host who truly made us feel welcome. We stayed in the "Alice in Wonderland" room, which is true to the pictures - it feels quite otherworldly. The rest of the house is equally richly decorated! The location is not exactly downtown, but it is a short drive and there is available street parking. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat!
If anything, it would be that the room can be a little cold - it is an old house with the corresponding insulation. Rhonda did make sure to ask us if we were comfortable though, and there were plenty of blankets to make us feel cozy!

Great location for midtown needs. Was in the French Room, very comfy bed, discovered the robe and slippers the last night! Loved the mind/body room with the painting supplies very relaxing. Interesting and unique older home with lots of stories behind.
Shared bathroom is a little awkward if one guest decides to take a bath and is in there quite a while :( Would be really helpful to have light over keypad to enter to see numbers.

Charming and historic home, close to the freeway and restaurants. Hostess and owner, Rhonda, was accommodating, friendly and very helpful. The room was decorated in "Alice In Wonderland", cozy and cute. The bathroom was a shared bathroom, but it had everything that was needed. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe and comfortable.
I usually prefer my own bathroom, but it worked fine for an overnight stay.

The room had lots of natural light, the exercise room was good, the bed was excellent, the linens and towels were excellent, the house was remarkably clean, the location was surprisingly good, with plenty of good restaurant choices within an interesting walk.
The room after dark was poorly lit, especially since one of the bedside lamps didn't work. There was no working internet connection at any time during our stay - we had to use our phone's hotspot to access the internet. Communication with the host was poor: we showed up at the check in time per the booking listing, but the gate was locked. We tried calling multiple times but were redirected to voice mail. Finally, a call was answered live and the host said I just sent you an email saying that the check in time is 4:30 didnt you get it? No, we didn't get any emails or booking notifications. Could have been Booking's fault but in any case we were out curbside waiting on the sidewalk.

Unique. Artsy decor. Soft nice bed and pillows. Pretty home.
Very dark and hard to see. Hard to know how or if to turn lights on in hall main room or stairway. Just really dim lighting. Smells strongly of room fresheners. A lot. Plugs and cord areas for phone charging was lacking. Side bed tables would have been super helpful. Neat room but so much stuff in it jot room for suitcases bags opened and no good place to put them. Honestly needs a good cleaning and dusting in edges corners etc.

Rhonda and her doggo were fantastic! So friendly and kind. The room was quirky and awesome for this Disney lover, and we really enjoyed it! We had just about everything we needed (outside of the outlet issue mentioned), and had a fun time. We would stay again for sure!! Would love to try the other room too!
Our only very minor issue was there not being many electrical outlets, which of course is a symptom of an older house. We just weren't prepared for that. We were getting ready for a wedding, so that's the only reason this was a small bump in the road.

Rhonda was very responsive and answered my questions via email immediately before I arrived. She and Taz both greeted me with a warm welcome. (Taz literally bounded up the stairs, waggiageng his tail, to greet me!) Rhonda spent a lot of time explaining the history of the vintage house. It is clear she is passionate about offering her guests a very special, comfortable and memorable experience. She even showed me the "Wonderland Room," featuring many homages to Alice in Wonderland. When I opened the door to my room I was delightfully dazzled by the artistic "vintage" decor, featuring so many unlikely details, including a vintage type writer on a writing desk, a mouse on the headboard, holding a reading lightbulb, lots classic books, vintage photographs artfully covering the floor and a chalkboard on which guests could leave messages. There is a modern TV mounted to the wall, a Keurig coffee maker with an assortment of coffees and welcome chocolates, along with toiletry items and even an eye mask and ear plugs. The room was remarkably quiet at night. (There is a bit of morning street traffic noise, but I imagine if one wore both ear plugs one would not be bothered. I had to keep one ear unplugged, so I could hear my alarm.) The bathroom was pristine and I loved the tiled floor and walls and beautiful faucets. And the bath water was very hot! There is even an exercise room with an exercise bike, dumbbells, microwave oven, ice maker. Location is very convenient and if I had had more time, I would have walked to downtown, Sutter's Fort, etc. Thank you for a lovely experience, Rhonda and Taz. I hope to stay with you again!
Just a bit of early morning street noise. But this would be expected as there is a major corridor nearby. The earplugs provided by Rhonda should be sufficient to block out the noise if one would wear them both! (I had to keep one ear unplugged in order to hear my alarm.

The charm of the house was wonderful. Rhonda met us in the front to welcome us and gave us a little tour to make sure we were comfortable.
I wasn't aware that we would be sharing the bathroom with other guests. It didn't end up being an issue, but it was not clear in the listing that we would be sharing.
