Great location! The hostel is in a safe neighborhood, and there are grocery stores & supermarkets within walking distance (e.g. 15-minute walk to Safeway where I could buy everything I needed!). The beds have curtains, so you get some privacy even when sharing the bedroom with other travelers. There's daily cleaning service, so the space is always kept clean. The rooms have lockers to keep your valuables safe (be sure to bring your own lock!). The shower in my room was *really* good & the internet connection was decent! (Not sure if I just got lucky?) All facilities are of good quality and well-maintained (I was expecting less from a hostel). Communal areas are also clean and tidy. There's a shared kitchen with two large fridges to store groceries. You're required to label your food with your name, room number, and check-out date, and the staff regularly clear out unlabeled or expired food. The staff is friendly and helpful! Overall, I was really happy with my two-week stay!

Can't say I didn't like these, because I was expecting some inevitable flaws :) Come prepared for these inconveniences: 1) Bring earplugs (and an extra pair of noise-cancelling earmuffs if you need to). Otherwise traffic noises and snoring roommates could heavily disrupt your sleep! 2) The staff told me they tried everything they could to improve their cooking facilities, but as of July 2024, microwave ovens & kettles are all they're allowed to provide (San Francisco regulations!). So look up microwave recipes if you're planning to stay longer and don't want to eat out all the time!

The beds were amazing and quiet for bunk beds. They also had curtains for privacy. Free and safe parking too. It was quiet at night in the hostel and clean. It’s located by Lombard Street, Fisherman’s Wharf, Ghirardelli Square and quite walkable. Great stay for the price, convenience and comfort

The breakfast was excellent for simple travel. Complementary coffee was always available, as well as hot water and tea. Yogurt, whole milk, oat milk, oatmeal, and cereal was available during the breakfast hours, which are between 8am until 10am. My favorite was unmistakably the free coffee, no doubt! Samesun San Francisco also does multiple events throughout the week and weekends. For example, there is Karaoke night on Thursdays, 8pm on the patio, as well as solve-mystery night, get-together-with-beer night, and some others, which are advertised with posters on the wall. It's truly a remarkable place to build a community, or simply making a few friends along the way of your trip to your destination.

There was not anything I did not like with my stay. The staff there was very helpful in providing information for my stay, providing my room key, and even directly helping me to my room when I needed help. The people who work here do exceptional work!

Great location! Very close to main attractions and restaurants. The room and bathroom were clean. Breakfast was small but good enough to fill you up in the morning. Friendly staff and guests, great place to make new friends. Loved that they always had free treats in the front desk. Good place for the value.

My check in experience was not the best. I arrived around midnight after a long trip and had to wait 30 minutes to check in. I had given the hostel a heads up about my check in time a few days earlier. When I arrived, the doors were locked and no one was answering the bell. Had to wait for a guest to let me in. There was no one in the front desk. The clerk had gone to eat something and came back 30 minutes later. The internet was super slow in the rooms.

Booked for start and finish of a 3 week, motorcycle road trip. Good budget hostel type motel. Decent sized room and good value for money, especially as safe internal car park and basic breakfast snacks, fruit/yoghurt/cereal/coffee were included in the room price. A good location, short walk (10 min stroll) from the Main drag, bay, pier and sights and a 20 min stroll to Chinatown. Close to trolly stops. Our room had a glimpse view of Golden Gate Bridge from our balcony. Within a few yards of convenience shops and a few decent eateries . Not fancy but laid back and perfectly adequate for 2 mature non-backpackers. We had a private, en-suite double room which was comfortable and clean.

Perfect location for San Francisco for a cheap price. Very secure area not affected by homelessness unlike downtown or the Tenderloin. Did include parking which was amazing, only 38 spots so arrive early. We arrived a bit past 4 pm on a Friday and only one spot available. Do NOT move your car while you’re visiting and empty everything out you car! The parking garage seems secure with surveillance, but everyone can walk in, so take precautions. The room is spacious and clean.

It’s a hostel so expect these kind of people here, but nothing to worry about. It did smell of cannabis in the common areas. We hade a private room with private bathroom so no worries.

The most incredible thing about it was the location. It is only a few miles away from the amazing Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39, which are very well decorated especially at night. By the way, the property is sited in the famous sinuous Lombard street. All those attractions you may reach by foot or by public transportation, which is very efficient in the city. The room was cozy, the internet connection was amazing too and there were also free parking lots at the property which is a great way to save money in San Francisco.

My girlfriend and I had a great weekend in San Francisco staying at Samesun. We arrived early and were able to store our luggage and park our car prior (free parking) to check in. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Upon checking in, we found our room to be very large, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was basic, but better than nothing. The location is amazing and once there we walked and rode bikes everywhere.

There was some traffic noise due to the single pane sliding glass balcony doors, but the two black out curtains helped block it out and it didn't bother me sleeping.

I stayed at this hotel before, and this time I was pleasantly surprised to find that free breakfast was added. It included coffee, milk, cereal, fruit, yogurt, toast, and more. The communal kitchen space has also been expanded, and a very large public activity area has been added. I stayed twice within a week, and despite San Francisco's cold and rainy winter, the hotel and the activity space were very warm and cozy. The hotel still offers free parking, which is an incredible convenience in downtown San Francisco. One of the biggest changes compared to my previous stay is that each bed now has curtains, ensuring complete privacy. Each bed is also equipped with a reading light, power outlets, and USB ports, which is simply amazing!
