Great location! The hostel is in a safe neighborhood, and there are grocery stores & supermarkets within walking distance (e.g. 15-minute walk to Safeway where I could buy everything I needed!). The beds have curtains, so you get some privacy even when sharing the bedroom with other travelers. There's daily cleaning service, so the space is always kept clean. The rooms have lockers to keep your valuables safe (be sure to bring your own lock!). The shower in my room was *really* good & the internet connection was decent! (Not sure if I just got lucky?) All facilities are of good quality and well-maintained (I was expecting less from a hostel). Communal areas are also clean and tidy. There's a shared kitchen with two large fridges to store groceries. You're required to label your food with your name, room number, and check-out date, and the staff regularly clear out unlabeled or expired food. The staff is friendly and helpful! Overall, I was really happy with my two-week stay!

Can't say I didn't like these, because I was expecting some inevitable flaws :) Come prepared for these inconveniences: 1) Bring earplugs (and an extra pair of noise-cancelling earmuffs if you need to). Otherwise traffic noises and snoring roommates could heavily disrupt your sleep! 2) The staff told me they tried everything they could to improve their cooking facilities, but as of July 2024, microwave ovens & kettles are all they're allowed to provide (San Francisco regulations!). So look up microwave recipes if you're planning to stay longer and don't want to eat out all the time!

BREAKFAST is simple and starts at 8 AM, with options like cereal and oatmeal to start your day right. Free PARKING is available in the garage under the building on a first come, first serve basis. The ROOM was clean and well-equipped, featuring a fridge and a safe that you can easily open and lock using your credit or debit card. We even had a VIEW of the Golden Gate Bridge right from our window—such a treat! The BED was incredibly comfortable—I had such a great night’s sleep! The BATHROOM was spacious, with a large shower, fresh towels, shower gel, and even tissues provided. SHOPS and restaurants are just a short walk away, and the cable car stop is only a 10-minute walk from the property, which made getting around the city super easy.

The beds were amazing and quiet for bunk beds. They also had curtains for privacy. Free and safe parking too. It was quiet at night in the hostel and clean. It’s located by Lombard Street, Fisherman’s Wharf, Ghirardelli Square and quite walkable. Great stay for the price, convenience and comfort

The staff is extremely welcoming, friendly&helpful, the facility/comfort is way above the price paid. Location is fantastic - fairly quiet residential area with convenient transportation to anywhere - 15m by bus to Golden Gate View point, walking distance to fishermen wharf, 30m by bus to Chinatown and Financial District.

As a hostel, you need to draw on your luck with your roommate's behaviors... someone in my room seemed to have carried her entire home to this hostel and spread everything on the floor of the SHARED room, and the smell is unbearable, I suspect she is homeless or semi-homeless. I won't blame the hostel but be careful next time.

I prefered the second common room and liked the atmosphere there. Breakfast was simple but delicious and you could add your own staff from the fridge to it. Rooms with balcony and only for 4 persons ... perfect. Every day very clean. The Samesun Hotel/Hostel made my perfect stay in San Fransisco even better.

First evening it smelled very strange in the room and I felt a little upset. The next days no bad smell, it was the matter of fresh air. In my opinion were enough space for the luggage. But I think sombody would maybe prefer a kind of closet.

The location is excellent. It's within an easy walking distance to the marina, north beach and eateries. If you are happy to walk a little further you can find Presidio which is a nice area. The hotel/hostel is comfortable and clean and staff were helpful. The bed was very comfortable. There's a cafe across the road that has decent coffee.

There wasn't much I didn't like. The breakfast is ok, but limited to a few choices of very sweet cereal , americano style coffee, tea and a mandarin. There's yoghurt if you get in early. Seating for breakfast is limited. They could probably ditch the pool table and set up more functional seating in the back room. The flooring on level 3 creaked quite a lot. I guess it's an old-ish building. I got used to it. The creaking often comes from people next door.

The breakfast was excellent for simple travel. Complementary coffee was always available, as well as hot water and tea. Yogurt, whole milk, oat milk, oatmeal, and cereal was available during the breakfast hours, which are between 8am until 10am. My favorite was unmistakably the free coffee, no doubt! Samesun San Francisco also does multiple events throughout the week and weekends. For example, there is Karaoke night on Thursdays, 8pm on the patio, as well as solve-mystery night, get-together-with-beer night, and some others, which are advertised with posters on the wall. It's truly a remarkable place to build a community, or simply making a few friends along the way of your trip to your destination.

There was not anything I did not like with my stay. The staff there was very helpful in providing information for my stay, providing my room key, and even directly helping me to my room when I needed help. The people who work here do exceptional work!

First time at a hostel, we wanted to be in this area had a private room with a balcony it was quite large and clean. Good for walking to all sites, we also took the no 28 bus to Pier 39 and got open top bus close by. Walked few blocks up Franklin Street to Union Street for lots of restaurants. Various teas available in the communal area and coffee, cereal and fruit available in the morning.

All communal areas needed a good vacuum, lady on reception said we had to drag out cases from the basement car park to the front of the building, we later found the lift access in the car park. She had no idea where we could find local restaurants until we had found Union Street and told her so she could help other travellers, then apparently she knew all about them. We were given no information about the area, breakfast, tea & coffee of departure time.
