Great room, friendly staff, felt very comfortable and high quality

The restaurant for breakfast was chaotic, staff there were not super friendly, and the process of ordering at the counter was chaotic. The inclusive breakfast option didn't cover the full cost of breakfast. Felt very different from the rest of the hotel.

This was a lovely hotel with great entertainment on offer, lovely staff and comfortable beds. We had enough space for 5 people's luggage, which is always a bonus, plus there was adequate bedding and a sofa bed for our 5th guest. The location was great, we were on the border of Tenderloin, which was quite a dangerous area, but the staff gave guidance on where to walk/not, and we felt safe the whole time. We absolutely loved the Redwood Room and Jazz band there, as well as all the friendly wait staff.

Only downside was our coffee machine would spit out brown water - but when we notified reception, they replaced it right away. Expensive food prices, but that makes sense for a more upmarket stay - we had a great time here, there is little to nothing to fault!

Location was great, staff were friendly and the room was lovely! i definitely recommend the junior suite, it was spacious and comfortable. I read other reviews about it being dirty outside the hotel and full of homeless people but that wasn’t the case at all. The door staff even recommended and helped us take pictures on the big chair by reception!

The mattress dipped down in the middle so wasn’t the most comfortable but wasn’t a deal breaker either. The shower water pressure was a bit low but again, not a deal breaker.

Firstly, I would like to highlight the positive aspects of my experience. I decided to upgrade my room for an additional fee, as the originally booked room was described by the reception staff as small and facing the inner courtyard. The upgraded room exceeded my expectations — it offered a beautiful view, was clean, spacious, and the location of the hotel was truly excellent. Thank you for that.

At the same time, I would like to mention a few points for improvement. When I tried to pay in cash due to specific restrictions from my bank, I felt that my request was not fully understood or considered. The staff seemed unwilling to even listen to the reason behind my request. Additionally, I found the repeated offers of extra paid services at check-in to be somewhat intrusive. While I understand the importance of presenting available options, I believe a more sensitive and guest-oriented approach would improve the experience.

Staff was really nice - front desk staff, restaurant staff. Breakfast in the restaurant was very good. Our room was very large and clean, beds were comfy, bathroom was very clean and updated. We would have liked to have a drink in the Redwood Room (which is lovely) but we had evening plans that started too early. Next time!

There was nothing we didn't like. We thought the lobby would be a bit more "grand" because the Redwood Room is so nice. The lobby is perfectly nice and nicely decorated, however it is small and was full of travelers and suitcases when we were there. It's not really a lobby to hang out in.

The location was really convenient and central. The hotel is in Union Square but just on the edge of what would be considered a safe place to stay -- any further west and you probably wouldn't feel as comfortable. Room was great value for what we got and was in great condition with new and stylish furniture, modern and clean bathroom, and had a beautiful view.

The cafe within the hotel was really expensive. We received a $10 voucher and that got us one fruit cup. The hot water dispenser in the lobby didn't work. We had a relative staying in the next room and he said he could hear us (and our toddler) through the wall.

The room and amenities therein were up to par and everything I expect in a hotel. Bed was comfortable, HVAC worked well, bathroom had plenty of towels, soap, etc.

The soap dispensers in the shower were along a wall where I kept hitting them with my arm when trying to move around. They should have been mounted on the far wall to leave that space for movement. I specifically looked for a hotel with on-site parking and both booking.com and google led me to believe that they had parking. Much to my chagrin, when I showed up it turns out parking is "available" around the hotel (across the street, down the block, etc) through third parties and not affiliated with the hotel at all. Just the normal parking garages you have in any town. While it ended up being no problem, I was looking for a hotel with self or better yet valet parking so I could just drop the car off and not worry about it till I was ready to leave.

The hotel has a perfect location as we read in previous reviews. Our main reason for the trip was to attend Pats vs 49ers game. The stadium is in Santa Clara, approximately one hour or from $80 to $100 Uber ride. Close in Uber to main attractions such as Golden Gate, Alcatraz and Pressidio. The Hop on hop off can take one block from hotel. The location is perfect with great restaurants close the hotel. There will also many stores such as Ross, Macys and Apple. The rooms are very comfortable and very big. All front desk representatives provide an excellent customer service. Our returning flight was at 10pm and the hotel offers various rate for late checkout very reasonable. Highly recommend. We definitely consider stay again if return to SF.

It's a bit on the pricey side but the location is just perfect. We had a room with an amazing View of the Skyscrapers at night. The Room was Big and very modern. Very clean.

almost 400$ a night for two Queensize but to be fair, it was in the middle of San Francisco on a nice location. No free parking, Valet parking is 70$/night.

It was a great experience staying at The Clift! Room service was amazing and fast! Staff very friendly and helpful! The ambiance of the hotel was both luxurious and inviting, making it a perfect retreat after a long day of exploring the city. Each morning, I looked forward to the delightful breakfast options that catered to every taste. Additionally, the hotel's location allowed easy access to nearby attractions, enhancing the overall convenience of my stay. I can't wait to return and relive the wonderful memories I created during my time there.

It was perfect only if the Cafe opened after 11 am.
