The property was spacious, great location, close to the pizza strip and a really neat food truck gathering under the bridge on long wharf. Outstanding pizza and Spanish / Puerto Rican food in this little town. The respect that the rehabilitation did for this building is just outstanding. The rooms are quiet big great furniture, modern super comfortable beds great TV very welcoming and comfortable. There’s a primary water source out by each elevator that provides flat, sparkling, hot or neutral water. What a great offering. Refrigerator in my room was helpful for leftover pizza and additionally, they offered a car service to local restaurants if you needed it. Jorge was my driver. He was friendly and excellent and the car was beautiful. I can’t recommend this property enough to anyone who wants to enjoy a little bit of New Haven in a modern safe area.

There isn’t anything I didn’t like about the property. As long as you’re aware of the history of the land then you understand that there’s an IKEA next-door. But the history of this building from 1969 Ford and the architectural relevance of it are just outstanding, even some of the locals will tell you about the progress of the building from when it was a Perelli tire Corporate office to the full renovation and the restoration of this magnificent architectural building. It’s a wonderful place.

We stayed at the hotel for a week while visiting our daughter, who is studying nearby. We loved the modern style, cleanliness, simplicity, and comfort of our room, as well as the friendliness of the staff. We appreciated its commitment to sustainability and its history. We took a little tour of the hotel. We were on the eighth floor and had a great view of the harbor. We enjoyed some drinks in the evening made by an experienced bartender and some food. However, in the morning we bought takeaway coffee twice and the service was quite slow. On one occasion, I waited 20 minutes from ordering coffee to actually receiving it and making payment. It was slightly frustrating, considering there was only one person in front of me. We had the best October weather we could have asked for, so we appreciated the cooling system. However, it takes a long time to cool down, and you can only set it as low as 67°F. We were slightly too hot with the beautiful sun shining through our windows in the morning. Overall we had a good experience. We will definitely be back.

I have stayed 3 times, and each time the hotel has more great things. This time, the breakfast was so good, and the bar was open late--both good for me, since I arrived late, and had to leave early for a busy day. The staff were wonderful. Super helpful and friendly.

I am old--the lights, etc, take a bit of brain-power to figure out. Lol! I know New Haven well--lived there for 10 years. I really appreciate businesses that make an effort to be part of the community, and to help the city.

The attention to Marcel Breuer's original design is terrific...period (now) Modernism. Finishes, fabric and furniture choices are all thoughtful and suit the architecture and era. Staff were responsive and very help. Food and drink menus inspiring and delicious. Use of glass and ceramic vessels...little to no plastic ... great. We loved the fact there was a fridge and a kettle in the room AND that three layers of window glass completely silences the traffic on Interstate 91...no mean feat. And the Marcel reports that it is the first fossil-fuel free hotel in the country! Bravo!

The (much appreciated) blinds and lighting selections are a little complicated to operate. The room was a little tight for family of three ...even though we had very little luggage.

We were looking for a midway point to stop between Vermont and Philadelphia, and this checked so many boxes. Ample charging stations for our EV. Right off the highway easy in and out. What we didn't expect was such an elegant and cool remodeling of a mid-century modern icon, a friendly staff, and an excellent breakfast using all locally sourced ingredients.

If you're looking for scenic views or a pleasant walk into downtown New Haven or Yale, this is not your spot. The views are all very industrial.

Hotel Marcel is a stylish, mod, hotel with very friendly staff. Love that the old Marcel Breuer/Pirelli Tire building has been repurposed! It is an icon of brutalist architecture which the hotel celebrates and amplifies in the design throughout. And - it’s the first completely solar powered hotel in the country. Wow. The rooms are clean, quiet and well appointed. Yhr beds are comfy, the down pillows are perfect, and the lighting is really well done. The restaurant/bar downstairs has a great menu - if a little pricey, and the food the was delicious. I would definitely stay again

The location is very convenient to the highway and 5 minute drive from downtown but not really walkable to anything - except Ikea! I had an interior room which was very large but the window faced an air shaft and there was really no natural light. I’d pick a room facing the water next time.

The location was excellent as it was close to the Yale campus where my daughter is attending. The room overlooking the Wharf was beautiful. The beds were very comfortable and the room including the bathroom was extremely well maintained and clean.

The front desk staff during check in was friendly but there could be a little more information on how to work the elevators with the room key. Fortunately, another guest helped, or we would have been stuck in the elevator. Once we understood how it worked, it was easy. Using the room key for the elevator was an extra layer of security for the guests, which was appreciated.

Newly renovated hotel with a great decoration. The building itself has a designer vibe and the rooms have been designed following a Bauhaus vibe too. Rooms are very big with any modern facility you may need. Plenty of free parking space too.

The air conditioning may need some tuning as the room was freezing at some points. As the hotel is so new, it is the sort of things which will be fixed in the coming weeks, so hopefully will not be an issue for future guests.

Food pretty good, but expensive. We were on foot, so didn't have much choice but to eat there. Service was pleasant & attentive. Bathroom was great, especially the shower. Good-looking place.

Breakfast pastry tasted good, but seemed a little stale. Coffee a bit bitter. Dinner OK; some parts of what we ordered were overcooked (e.g. wings). Mattress not 100% comfortable.

The room was clean and modern. There is a touchpad as you enter the room that controls the blinds, lights, and temperate of the room. Small details are what count sometimes, and having a bottle of liquid hand soap in the bathroom was a nice touch.

The staff in the restaurant were not friendly at breakfast, the tea was the worst tea I have ever had the displeasure of drinking in my life, and after one of the blackberries tasted like mold I could not bring myself to eat anymore. The room temperature only goes as low as 67°F, which is too warm for my liking when I sleep. Staff watched me struggle with the luggage cart that would not steer easily and offered no assistance.
