The staff was great, especially Mubotu....someone canceled my room prior to me arriving bcuz my card was locked...however, I updated to a credit card on booking.com abt 3 weeks prior to my stay. They said they didnt get that info despite me showing them its on booking.com. He rebooked my room and was very courtesy, professional and pleasantly calm. He was GREAT!!

I booked a bath tub & balcony room....when I inquired abt it I was told tht its was incorrectly advertised on booking.com. You either get a bath tub room or a balcony room you cant get both. That sucked big time. Very misleading representation on this facility. Oh, and the ice machine...DID NOT WORK...only one also on the 7th floor and it was broken.

Beautiful hotel with the friendliest staff. That is not common to find at such a large hotel but each staff person was personable and helpful. They also had a free jazz concert at the hotel resturant one night when we went. We also were one block from the convention center which is where our event was.

The parking was $55 a night in that area which is absurd, but the vallet was great. The heat and ice machines in the rooms had some matinance issues and they could not get us extra blankets after 7pm...but other than those minor functions the staff was really nice and tried to help.

Incredible Staff and a Wonderful Stay Everyone I encountered was incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely cared about making my stay perfect. Their warm and welcoming attitude made all the difference. The rooms were comfortable and thoughtfully designed, with quality details throughout. The hotel overall had a great atmosphere, making it a perfect place to relax. If you’re looking for a place where the staff goes above and beyond, The American Hotel Atlanta is the one. I’ll definitely be returning! A special thanks to Nicol, she was not only friendly but also made our stay fun—her service was exceptional.

The American is in the perfect location! It’s so convenient to the MARTA and downtown. I always stay here when I come to Atlanta!

Sometimes there’s miscommunication with the staff. As I was checking in there weren’t rooms available but I was told I’d be charged extra for trying to check in early. But half an hour later when I went to leave my luggage, they did have a room available and a different person told me there wouldn’t be an extra charge. It made my day to be able to take care of check in early without an extra high fee so the experience can change depending on who you interact with. Luckily, I ended up with a good experience this time.

Location was great. Ten at the front desk was AWESOME!!! Cornell in the restaurant for breakfast was Great & Marco in the bar and restaurant was AWESOME!!! Their people skills were EXCELLENT!! The rooms were nice, clean & spacious.

I didn't like the small area to unload our luggage and also that my vehicle safety wasn't the responsibility of the hotel even though it was valet parking and I was charged for it. Especially since I had NO CLUE AS TO WHERE IT WAS🤔. I didn't like that the rooms had such small refrigerators and NO MICROWAVE. I also needed more firmer pillows for my back.

The hotel was nice and clean. The room was big, beds were comfortable. Great location to stay at for the Hot Chocolate run. The starting corral was right there on the street by the front door. The breakfast buffet has a variety of good food, both healthy and not. Dwight at the front desk is very helpful and accommodating.

There was a mix up between the hotel and booking.com about the cost of the stay but it was worked out. There was construction going on. It wasn’t loud since it was the weekend but inconvenient. The 4th floor hall way to our room smelled like marijuana.

Love the historical backstory. Love the overnight auditor customer service. Loved the terrace feature with each hotel room. Loved the pool area —although I didn't get a chance to enjoy it. Next time. Loved the late checkout option. Loved the retro mini fridge. Loved the room's spaciousness and heightened ceiling. Loved the city view of the ferris wheel. Loved the mid-century mod decor —especially the sliding bathroom door handle. What a great throwback detail. Loved the big, wide hotel room doors and classic woodwork design. Loved the foyer space of the room on the fifth floor rooms. Is it like that throughout the hotel? Hope so. Loved the little sitting areas on each floor off the elevator.

The construction. I realize it's temporary though. I wasn't overly impressed with the dress code of the front desk staff. It wasn't a sharp image. Snack machines and coffee stations should be relocated out of the main lobby area. Was there a second, smaller lobby off the main lobby? Inoperable elevators wasn't a good look either. I chalked it all up to construction woes.

I have traveled many a times and I have yet to come across a team like this. We loved the staff at the property! There were very friendly, funny and always willing to go above and beyond. Especially Brian, Dwight and Charnice, they are the epitome of what excellent customer service looks like! I must emphasise Brian over here, he truly made our stay special. We couldn’t have asked for better staff! We truly appreciate everyones hard work and professionalism. We must also give honourable mentions to the guys on the door like Noah, they were always so chivalrous with a great smile to match.

Building and decor are a little outdated

From the moment we entered The American Hotel, I knew it was special! The welcome we received from all employees was so kind and gave us an immediate sense of home. When the staff found out it was my daughter's birthday weekend, they were quick to offer her goodies and even a birthday card! The friendly staff, decorative vibes, historical contexts, safety, amazing breakfast and exemplarily hospitality of this hotel has made it one of my favorites! This hotel understands that travel should be that of human interaction, laughter, kindness, beauty and relaxation. The employees of The American should be very proud of themselves and their commitment to excellence!

All was great! There is some remodeling taking place in the hotel, but it wasn't noisy nor creating disruption.

Location was good with regards to public transportation. Room was comfortable and clean!
