The public spaces in this hotel are so very beautiful, comfortable, and welcoming. It is hard to leave. Fun just to relax in one of the many sofas or chairs and just look at all the historic details. Then the shop is full of fun stuff to browse or buy. All of the staff are terrific, especially Chris who makes dining and drinking (the Hot Brown not to be missed) in the hotel special. He is so knowledgeable about Bourbon and went extra to help us to understand and appreciate this Kentucky wonder. Breakfast staff and food are very good and accommodating. The elevators are quick, smooth and quiet. Shower pressure good. Bedrooms large and bed comfy. This hotel is now joins with The Merchant in Belfast as my very favorite two hotels. Would love to return soon and often regardless of what is happening in Louisville, though there is a lot to see, sample and do. The Brown and Louisville make a great team! Treat yourself!

Bedroom is not nearly as attractive as the public spaces, but then they were a lot to live up to. Hallways were a bit dark as well. The two chairs needed arms to make them more comfortable. More places to place makeup etc in the bathroom. Otherwise, having our stay end.

Beautifully kept inside. Staff were very nice. Enjoyed the history that came with the building and how it has been preserved. Room was beautiful and perfect size for a couple passing through for a night. Within walking distance of entertainment district. Overall a very clean, quiet building.

Price of the room didn't seem appropriate given no amenities. No refrigerator in room, work out area, pool, vending/ ice machines hard to locate. No exhaust fan in the bathroom. The restaurant only provided two choices for breakfast: a very expensive buffet breakfast or a small skillet which was comparable in price to a single buffet purchase.

The hotel restaurant is excellent. Loved all the historic charm of the building, and the chess table that was set up to play in a little nook on the third floor. It was a mini adventure to find it, we stumbled upon it by accident. Not the place to stay if trying to keep a budget low, but exactly right for a date night weekend.

Parking is definitely something I hope the hotel can address- there is no free parking, and while it doesn't necessarily need to be free, the hotel could opt to give a half of voucher of some sort to guests. It was a slightly unexpected extra expense for my partner and I (although that's also on us for not researching first).

1) my A/C was not working but maintenance came and fixed it quickly! 2) the front desk staff were awesome! Especially the young middle eastern gentleman! So helpful!

1) pillows were hard as rocks but I did not tell anyone so not anyone’s fault but my own. But out of four pillows, four were rocks. Most hotels, out of four pillows on the bed, would provide at least 2-3 different firmnesses. 2) at lunch one day at the J. Graham Cafe, I was chatting with a young Asian girl who was wonderful and answering my questions, when a female manager (dark hair, no glasses) came by and asked me if I needed help (I didn’t because the young girl was helping me just fine), but the manager proceeded to help me anyway and “take over” the conversation. The look on the young girl’s face was deflating. I felt the manager was degrading and devaluing the employee. I was embarrassed for the young girl and I was very uncomfortable because of the manager.

Rooms are a bit dated no rooms with a bath tub available. The bed and pillows were not very comfortable. The beds could use an update and some better pillow options. For anyone with spine issues just wasnt very comfortable. The carpets could use a good steam cleaning or replacement. They looked quite dirty and stained. A better coffee maker in room. No one answers the front desk phone. Maybe thats not a thing these days to get room service.

Beautiful property, well-maintained, friendly & helpful staff. Restaurant food was very good. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

We only give “excellent” to the most outstanding properties we have experienced. This hotel is definitely very good. Our only criticism is maintenance. It’s an historic property but that doesn’t excuse dusty blinds in the rooms, chipping paint in many areas, and stained or damaged fabric on furniture. I realize we are VERY picky (we are hotel owners). That being said, the hotel is a strong 8/9.

Beautiful historic hotel in downtown Louisville. Lobby is impressive. Great Bourbon and delicious food including their signature dish the Hot Brown.

Room was a bit tired and smelled of smoke (probably not recent but they were running central air). A hotel like this should have actual glassware not paper cups! The in room coffee maker made terrible coffee. You have to tip everyone. Limited food times. Breakfast doesn’t start until 7am and dinner/room service is only from 5pm-9pm.

Room was a bit small, but to be expected for a beautiful but older hotel design. The tradeoff was the bathroom, which was BEAUTIFUL and spacious. The restaurants and bar areas were exceptional in both quality and atmosphere. Lots of Kentucky Derby lore and The Brown Hotel obviously takes care to keep up the reputation for being a special kind of hotel. Very nice. The upper deck (rooftop) is amazing.

Check-in/out was fine, but a lot of aircrews kind of took precedence and made the experience a bit slower than one would like. The bar has a wonderful vibe and the whole check-in area exudes a pleasant "throw-back" atmosphere, but the prices at the bar were a bit steep... nice as it was, not sure the atmosphere matched the prices.

The lobby is beautiful and historic. We were promptly upgraded to a better room when a ceiling tile fell in our bathroom and shattered plaster.

Things you might expect of a historic hotel. When the music in the lobby bar ended you really could hear the loud disruptive music from the wedding reception nearby. Kind of ruined the atmosphere in the lobby bar. I dd not like that j grahms restaurant only offered a breakfast buffet. Would have preferred to be able to order from a menu. We did not stay because some in our party had dietary restrictions.

It really is a step back in time. Awesome staff, AMAZING food! The pianist playing some great tunes at dinner was icing on the cake! There are a lot of posters around to give you a full history. You must eat dinner and breakfast there. Sooo worth if!

The smell of the room was dank. But I understand the cost of maintaining such a historic building is an undertaking. It's close to a homeless encampment/riff raff, but have no worries. There is an armed officer we saw at the entry, so that was reassuring. Do the VIP parking. Worth the cost and hassle.
