Staff: The staff at the Rathbone Mansions is exceptional! I mentioned that the visit was for my wife's birthday. I didn't expect anything from it, but when we got into the room, it was an upgraded room and they'd left a nice bottle of wine and a birthday card for my wife. That alone would've been enough for me to write a great review, but there's so much more. Property: This property has a beautiful pool/hot tub with a little "tiki lounge" that isn't manned, but can be used by the guests as a hangout location. There are 2 mansions, 1x at 1244 and 1x at 1227. Both are phenomenal OLD buildings that are beautiful due to their architechture & decor. The grounds were also well maintained. The rooms were spacious, clean, & comfortable. Yes, there are old doors & windows that don't close or open easily, & the floors are not completely flat & a bit creaky, but it's a REALLY old mansion with original fixtures. For us, these things just added to the uniquness of the buildings. The housekeeping & staff are "dayshift" only, & they don't clean the rooms during your (short) stay unless requested. This was nice for us, we didn't need anything, there were plenty of towels, & soaps, etc. Area: "The Tremé" is older & has some downtrodden areas. There is a LOT of gentrification happening, & like many areas in NOLA, one street can be a bit scary & the next be really nice. We went to a show at the Mahalia Jackson Theater. It was an easy to walk there & we went to several nice little bars on Rampart Street on the way back to the hotel...all walking distance. It's only about 1-mile to walk from the hotel to the West Side of Bourbon Street. We took Uber rides to a few places & they always arrived within 2-3 mins. Overall: This place was wonderful & exceeded my expectations.

We stayed at the 1227 mansion. We had a late check-in and the instructions were straightforward. The mansion is beautiful - it has a lot of character with high ceilings and grand furniture. The rooms were large and comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and the water pressure was great. The location is excellent. It's about a 20 minute walk into the French Quarter. There's coffee, fruit and cereal bars provided in the lobby and we spent some time in the evening sitting downstairs, enjoying the ambience. It was a lovely place to stay and I'd happily stay again!

Very nice hotel in an old mansion in New Orleans. Rooms were fully renovated, noise insulated and air conditioned.

Late at night preferred to Uber home rather than walk even though it’s close to French quarter. That being said, it was only a 5-min ride.

The room was super clean very secluded.I liked that

Way to much light at night. One. Window in the bedroom had no curtain at all. Had to use a towel to cover it up. And the security light in the garden was way way too bright other than that, it was nice.

The place was amazing and the staff was so friendly. Will definitely stay there again.

I can't really find anything that I didn't like. The balcony was slightly wonky but sitting on the table watching the beautiful Street below was magical anyway.

The staff is amazing! I stayed last year and will likely continue to stay there. The snacks and light breakfast are also great for my volleyball team as we have very early hours.

Nothing that can be helped much. It's just an older building. One of the beds was really squeaky any time you shifted on it but the overall stay is always so great that it is a small thing to deal with.

The property was located in a mostly quiet residential area that was an easy walk to the French quarter. It was very clean, the bathroom looked new, the beds very comfortable and we had a kitchenette with microwave, fridge, coffee facilities, sink and small dining table, they also had coffee, water and a few grab and go items downstairs. The staff were really friendly and helpful, when we asked for our room clean they sent an email for us to let them know our preferred time. The pool area was lovely and was nice to sit for an hour in the evening. The parking and property was secure.

We had a couple of issues during our stay, the toilet roll holder fell off but only due to a loose grub screw and was fixed within 24 hrs. The sink in the bathroom was slow to drain, we reported it but although maintenance came it was not resolved during our stay. The room had flaky paint on the ceiling in places and I think a little tlc in places wouldn’t go a miss. We couldn’t find the pool lights even though it was open till midnight, it was fine but would have been nice to have the string lights on.

I enjoyed staying in the Marigny, which is in a fairly quiet neighborhood. The mansion is about a 10 - 15 minute walk to both the French Quarter and Frenchman Street, and the 91 bus stop is right there. Staff are all very welcoming and accommodating

Initially I was given room 1C which is small, dark, with a view of a nearby wall. I asked to be switched to the other side of the building, and I was put in 1F, which was much more pleasant. Staff is only on the property from 9am - 5pm, but can always be reached by phone The bathtub is slippery with no handgrips to hold on to. There is a hot water machine in the room with instant coffee and small milk containers, but no sugar or tea. However, they are available in the main lobby

The lady at the desk was exceptionally accommodating and helpful. The street, gate and the whole house is beautiful and well maintained. There is parking on the premises for a very reasonable price but also street parking available if needed. The Rathbone is walking distance from a few places to eat or get coffee. The walk to Habana was quick, easy and the food was delightful. The neighborhood is beautiful and we felt secure in our room. I have stayed in the French quarter before and I preferred the stay on esplanade at Rathbone. The stay was more personal, quiet and the staff is great.

Great little guesthouse/hotel near French Quarter. It is about 15/20 mins walking to the French Quarter. Or take the Blue bike membership for a month ($25) and bike around New Orleans (we did that). It has 2 buildings almost across from each other, one of them has the pool. Great little pool and hot tub, nice lounge chairs and pillows around it. And a nice garden for the other building. Comfortable room en nicely decorated. No breakfast, but there is coffee, tea, mandarins and bananas in the morning. All in all a great stay! The street it is on is also beautiful, especially towards the City park (but also the other way towards the French Quarter).
