This is such a charming place. It’s very quaint with amazing amenities. Full complementary breakfast. On tap beer in the lobby any time you want. Happy hour with wine & charcuterie. There’s a private side patio to relax on & tables & chairs in the front of the hotel to sit & relax & watch the ongoings of SOHA. The beds were SO comfortable.

It’s not that I didn’t like it, but you should be aware, this is an old hotel. It’s small. It doesn’t have all the things you may expect in like chain hotels but that’s what I actually liked about it. For instance, there’s not an elevator. That wasn’t a problem for us (it’s just one flight up) but it might be for some.

We were going in sight unseen to this Historic Hotel (historic can mean many things...). The entire experience was delightful. We had played golf at HawksHead but were eager to watch the Derby and settled on New Holland distillery about 15 steps from the hotel - perfect. Then had dinner out and could just walk back. Free parking overnight. Free hot breakfast in the morning. Squeaky floors, tiled bathroom from 1920's or so, radiators - just like the house I grew up in. Felt at home. Still had plenty of chargers, outlets, fridge, space. I would come back for sure.

Original wall art is probably due for a swap out.

The property was great. The staff was amazing! We checked in Friday evening and upon conversation with the staff, we had mentioned that our son was getting married Saturday on North beach. We were not aware at the time, however, one of the individuals we were speaking with happened to be the owner, and he came back Saturday morning and brought his ATV vehicle for my son and fiancé to use for the entire day on Saturday! We were blown away by the gesture, and at how amazingly kind all of the staff were. The breakfast was also amazing, made by the staff themselves and there was so much to choose from. Absolutely highly recommend this hotel and we will be back.

We were greeted by Todd. He was such a charming man. Super sweet and greeted us daily. We enjoyed the breakfast you had to offer and Sam was amazing and super polite. You have 2 amazing guys working for you that helped make our stay enjoyable.

The lighting in the bathroom wasn’t good for makeup. The water pressure in the shower wasn’t good at all either.

Dear friends, I just wanted you to know how wonderful my stay was. It’s not like any other place I have ever been. It was such a unique experience. It felt like family. The guests and staff were so friendly and welcoming. You can sit next to anyone and feel like you were long time friends. I did not expect what came with my stay. The mystery theater involvement with the guests, the fabulous lasagna dinner, cocktail hour and morning breakfast, so amazing. I will definitely be making an early reservation for New Year’s Eve next year. Thank you so much for your hospitality. Mary Conley

I had a wonderful stay at the hotel! The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making sure all my needs were met. The room was clean, spacious, and well-maintained, with all the amenities I could ask for. I especially appreciated the comfortable bed and the peaceful atmosphere, which made for a relaxing stay. The location was convenient, and the breakfast was exremely delicious. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Looking forward to staying again!

The historical value is top notch. It was very similar to being at my home, which was built in 1918. It was great to be right by all of South Haven’s great shops and restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The original uranium glass sconce lights in the room were awesome!

Like any structure built before electricity, plug ends are few. While power strips were utilized in some parts of the room, I did have to get on my knees to grab the extension cord, that the lamp on my bedside table was plugged into, so that I could charge my phone and have nearby when the alarm would go off. As I live in an old house w the same issues, I understand the challenges that very few outlets pose.

When we arrived for our stay they were able to accommodate an early check-in which was much appreciated! The gentleman who greeted us when we arrived was very friendly and helpful. He was also at breakfast the following morning and just had such a lovely & outgoing personality. I would also like to say that the hotel has charm and it was located perfectly for all of our interests. The hotel is nestled in the downtown shopping area and only several blocks from the beach and lighthouse. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay here from all the things to do to the comfy bed. We will be back!

We liked the location, the charm of an old building, the breakfast, the staff, the games and wine and beer.

The room was not great. No place to put luggage. There were lamps that had no outlets. The ceiling fan was noisy. The air conditioner was covered by the curtains. There was no closet. It was very expensive.

The free breakfast (off a menu, not buffet) was outstanding. The free happy hour (beer on draft from a local brewery and quality wine and charcuterie) was also outstanding. The service was first class! Location is excellent!

It’s a very old hotel so, as you would expect, room sizes are small.
