Great location in downtown Asheville: easy walking distance to many restaurants, bars and music venues; not far from the River Arts District; and a short drive to the Biltmore, many beautiful hikes/peaks/waterfalls, etc. Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms and breakfast area, pool seemed nice enough though I didn't use it -- all around, a really good value for the price!
The decor/ambience could use some sprucing up: between the tile floors, mostly bare walls, etc., it felt more like a community center or senior center than a hotel. The elevator was also a bit rickety/bumpy, which made for some interesting rides! All in all though, minor complaints in what was otherwise a very nice and comfortable stay :)

Great location for walking around Ashville. Free parking in the middle of downtown is incredible. Breakfast is comparable to any category 3 type hotel chain but available 6-11:30! Great water pressure in the shower and the water in the sink and shower heat quickly. Staff all seem invested in making your stay lovely. Yes it's dated but there was always staff working to update (painting, rewiring, cleaning, etc). I didn't use the pool but it looks really lovely. This is a great place for the price, would definitely return.
Yep, it's outdated. But it's clean and comfortable and very affordable for the area.

Hands down, probably the best complimentary breakfast offered that I have ever had while staying at a hotel. Everywhere else just has cereal and coffee, they had waffles, yogurt, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, coffee, also oj, there was probably more but I was overwhelmed with options. Our room was super clean, staff was overly nice and willing to help with anything (even repeating directions more than once because I didn't pay attention) will 100% stay here again.
Honestly the only downside to this visit was the couple that was staying in the room next to us, they basically argued well into the night (like 1:00am or later) I know the hotel has no control over that but to my wife and I, that was the only downside.

The staff were super helpful when I arrived early from the airport and helped me check in early. It's a great location: super walkable to downtown. I stayed for four nights and it was an excellent value.
The wall next to the front door was all window, and there was only a blackout curtain. As the rooms face outside, I couldn't get a lot of sunlight in without sacrificing privacy in the room. My room overlooked the pool and they were running the water fountains for the pool but it wasn't open yet so it always sounded like it was raining outside.

Wonderful breakfast with a large dining room. Breakfast stays out really late. Breakfast doesn’t get put away until around lunch time, which I really appreciate. I’ve never been to any hotel that has breakfast hours last this long. This is a huge bonus for me. Also, you can’t beat the location! Perfection location for walking anywhere downtown and around. The shower was amazing with good water pressure. All of these things Ive listed are usually hard to find at hotel, the Downtown Inn has it all. I Love the Downtown Inn for this reason. The staff was very nice as well! And they are pet friendly! They check all of my boxes! :)

This is a dated economy hotel with convenient access to downtown within walking distance. It's not the Hilton, but it's perfect for a quick trip. The beds were okay, and since we didn't use the room that much, it worked out fine. The pool needs work, but it was too cold, and we didn't use it either. It could use a good paint job, but it looked clean. We have stayed at this hotel several times, and it's great for the price and location. Parking is free, but you'll need to secure a spot early.
In the front rooms, you can hear everything. We always ask for the back rooms

Great location, room was clean, comfortable, spacious. Elevators are fast. Walkable to anywhere downtown, short drive from the hospital. Staff was helpful and courteous. One of my fellow guests had trouble using the waffle iron, and the front desk attendant noticed immediately and came over to help, very patient, understanding, and didn't make a fuss about it at all. They have three waffle makers so even when it gets fairly busy (or if someone is having difficulties with one of them) you're unlikely to have to wait to make a waffle. Spectacular mountain views on the South-facing side.
The breakfast is good for what it is, but nothing to write home about. Folks at nearby bars and clubs can get rowdy at night. It's an aging building and it definitely shows. The pool's been closed for ages. The parking is extremely tight. Still a fantastic value for the cost and location.

Very convenient to everything we wanted to do. Short walks to all kinds of food, bars and shops. We parked on Friday and didn't get back in the car until Sunday. Facilities are a little dated but the room was very clean. The music was pretty loud from the nearby venue until 10pm and then it was quiet again. We didn't mind though. Breakfast was decent. They have waffle machines and lots of bagels and breakfast type drinks. I had a microwavable Jimmy Dean sausage biscuit and was good to go. Staff was efficient. I definitely would recommend this place for a quick stay in downtown Asheville. Price was great and it covered the important things for me.
Only problem was our room coffee maker didn't work but there was coffee downstairs so it worked out fine.

You absolutely cannot beat the location and price of Downtown Inn. We were in Asheville for a concert at Rabbit Rabbit. We arrived at Downtown Inn, parked our car, and didn't move it again until we were ready to leave town at the end of the weekend! So many restaurants, shops, and entertainment options are within walking distance. The hotel reminded me of places we would stay on childhood road trips--just a simple, clean place to lay your head at night. The bathroom/bathtub were exceptionally clean. The staff person who checked us in and out was incredibly organized, efficient, and helpful. I will stay here any time I need a great location in downtown Asheville.
Nothing, Downtown Inn exceeded my expecations

Super location (can walk to many places downtown) with free parking on site. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room faced the busy street but there was really no problem with noise. Although an older hotel, it was clean & in good working order overall. This is our 2nd stay there & we would stay there again!
On site parking is very tight - hard to get in/out of the spaces. Hotel could use some updating overall.
