We were looking for a place for a spontaneous weekend trip to Asheville. This one seemed affordable and the reviews were excellent. But what about the two-star designation? This hotel was fantastic! It’s new and clean and modern. Breakfast is great, bed comfortable, and staff very helpful. This is NOT a two-star hotel—I’d add at least one star more. It’s a 5 minute walk from downtown, and right near a Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods and Harris Teeter, so you can make good use of the well stocked kitchen. Some have complained about highway noise. We requested a rear-facing room and were not bothered at all.
There is a $15/night parking fee buried in the fine print. This seems to be the latest grab by hotels, and it annoyed me, but even with that it was still far less expensive than most other downtown hotels.

The staff were extremely friendly. From the front desk to engineering to housekeeping to breakfast- every person was so friendly and helpful. The inside is decorated well and the rooms are attractive.
The location was odd and there was one way in and out and you had to circle a neighborhood block to turn back into the parking lot. Also the main floors were dirty. The main hallways needed vacuuming and the bottom surround of the elevators were dirty as well. The rooms themselves were very clean but the main corridors were not. The coach was also not comfortable at all. You would not want to lounge in that room for long. That isn’t the hotels fault. It’s whoever purchased those couches for that location. Room was way smaller than I expected and have stayed at before as well for a suite.

Alan at the front desk was wonderful. Breakfast was awesome and the beds were very comfy, love the showers. Room wasn't as big as I thought it would be but everything worked out very well.
There was no lighting for the desk area. We were not informed about the $15 a day parking.

The Staff was Extremely accommodating, specially, Sabrina at the front desk. Thank you soooo much for going even out of your way to get a very needed hair conditioner immediately , and making it very easy to extend out stay to a late check out... . The Breakfast area was immaculate, thank you, Daisy. It was a pleasure, you're truly meeting everyone with a happy attitude, nice smile and , surely all.your work was done to a perfection, food was delish, and had a variety of choices.. Thank you, all!!! We had a very pleasant stay Ohh, one more, - nice surprise-beautiful and cozy fireplace on a outside patio!!! So cute 😍!!!

The breakfast was ample but mostly prepared which makes sense. I became a fan of the oatmeal bar which really elevated a breakfast staple. I admit being surprised to find a laundry on the first floor, near the registration desk and fitness center. That would certainly be a plus at the end of a trip but I was totally unprepared for a full kitchen in the room! Overall the room was a really gracious setup, plenty of plugs for recharging, multiple seating areas, lovely setup for wardrobe, made me feel a little guilty to have it all to myself. The shower is a wonder too. Now my view was of a highway but the blessing was it was sight only, not a sound intruded and the window coverings enabled multiple choices in screening.
You could toot your horn a little louder. Because I drove in and around the block, the hotel is on a one way street, I had no idea how close it really was to downtown. Staff was really helpful in that regard, i giving great directions and it's only a 10-15 minute walk to where there are so many great things to see and do in Asheville; great restaurants, historic buildings, a fantastic Basilica. There's a wall map near the elevator which does show those things but it didn't stand out until I had done the walking.

Breakfast was good
We booked this hotel for convenience to downtown however the walk under a highway overpass was full of garbage & homeless people. It was a downer to have a really nice dinner downtown with a few glasses of wine and then have to walk past this in the dark to Get to our hotel. It was a real downer. So our last night in town, we drove to the restaurant & had to pay parking fee which we also incur staying at Marriott. You should offer a free shuttle to downtown, maybe then I will come back.

Allen was the BEST, most helpful desk receptionist I've ever encountered at a hotel. Someone give that man a raise!!! This hotel is THE BEST location in Asheville. It's a 3-minute drive to the square, $6-$8 Lyft ride at any point (Uber is pricier -- though it is hard to find rides in AVL at times, period). You could also walk to downtown or nearby restaurants and shops. I felt very safe in the parking garage and the neighborhood area this hotel is located within. I didn't partake in breakfast since I have food allergies, so I can't speak to that. Although I didn't bring my pet this time, I love that this hotel allows pets for a very reasonable fee imo! The rooms are very nice and spacious, and there was surprising amount of storage. My king-size room had a FULL desk and couch, AND kitchenette complete with a toaster and stovetop, full fridge, real coffee pot, and microwave. I was IMPRESSED!
I don't love that you have to pay for parking at this hotel, it's $15/night but you can come and go as you please. They give you a pass for your windshield. I didn't love the lighting in the room... all of the lamps and bathroom / closet lighting proved challenging to do my makeup (I tried to use natural window light but that didn't work either, due to the direction my room was facing). The beds are not comfortable. Hallways were pretty dirty all weekend long, but my room was very clean.

My friend and I loved our stay at the TownePlace Suites in Asheville! The location is great, close to a botanical garden and other parks, and right down the road from a Whole Foods. The hotel itself is very clean and our room (327) was enormous! It was on the highway side, but we couldn't hear any noise. Breakfast had fantastic options, even including a cage-free frittata which was excellent. Check-in was a breeze, and all staff were friendly and courteous.

The property was on the opposite side of the interstate from downtown, we were warned that to walk under the interstate was to meet beggars and sometimes people were mugged there, we found the place so easy and accessible for downtown, and found no issues walking under the interstate, to us it did feel safe. The room was comfy; everywhere was so clean; the shower was wonderful (as we love showers); coffee in room delicious; no complaints with the room. People at reception very helpful, and made us feel welcome. Breakfast basic but tasty.
Booked into a room opposite the interstate, reviews show that the interstate and slip-road is very noisy, enquired if we could move to a quieter part of the building, asked to call 2-3 days before arrival, and they did move us, so lovely and quiet. Reviews said parking was very tight, they were right, as spaces and being able to maneuver was really awkward, worried when a huge truck was parked either side of us overnight, however no damage to our car was done. Room was icey all night long, too much air conditioning, did not notice until the next morning that we could adjust the settings on the wall, could of complained and found that out, but froze all night long instead, brrrr. We were happy with our accommodation, and would book again.

Breakfast was great with lots of options. Rooms were spacious and all the furnishings were new. Not a fan of having to pay for parking ... I guess I didn't realize that ... but that didn't soil my experience with the room and the breakfast.
Didn't realize I had to pay for parking until I arrived. I guess it was in the fine print. If I had known I would of opted for another hotel, however, I liked this one, so I am glad I didn't know.
