The building was very interesting and unlike most American hotels, I really enjoyed my stay. There were more quirks than an average hotel but I found them charming, also a lovely patio area

Breakfast was ready for you in a little bag, but I forgot to fill out the sheet two of the three nights. On the third morning I just had coffee because I forgot but the nice lady brought me a muffin. Also the location is a bit odd, it's next to a freeway and down the street from a grocery store that yells at you that you're under surveillance from a speaker, but downtown was an easy enough walk. The bathroom door also made it a dance to get in/out due to its angle.

The Priory Hotel in Pittsburgh is a repurposed Benedictine monastery. The monks lived pretty well. We enjoyed a spacious king room with large windows and Victorian furnishings. Made - to - pre-order bagged breakfast that we ate in the refectory. We were among four or five guests. Not peak season. Pittsburgh in a January snow storm. Exceptionally efficient and warm front desk staff. The hotel is located in the remnants of an old European immigrant neighborhood that was wrecked by an expressway. We had dinner a few blocks away at Huszar Hungarian Restaurant. The restaurant is in a corner tavern on a somewhat run down block adjacent to the expressway. Do not be put off by appearances. The food was excellent. Chicken paprikash and a Hungarian pork schnitzel with great sauce. Side of pickled red cabbage. Sour cherry strudel for dessert. We were the only guests. We enjoyed hearing the life histories of the proprietor : cook :: wife : husband and the back story on the restaurant. We also appreciated an intense and civil discussion of Hungarian and American politics. Reservations recommended to alert staff that customers are coming.

We enjoyed the European style of the hotel, the beautiful building itself. Meanwhile, It was more suited as a Bed and Breakfast than an actual Hotel. They had a gorgeous private back patio where music was played. Breakfast was served at a self-chosen time. Lastly, the shower was very nice and had a black light to clean any additional germs. And we had the softest bed to sleep on.

We were not a fan of the rickety elevator or the little safety with the front door. We also didn’t have a fridge or a microwave. It was less of a hotel for that reason or more a B&B.

This hotel is gorgeous! It is located in an old priory/monastery, which means the hotel definitely does not feel cookie-cutter. Every room is unique, and there are beautiful historic details everywhere. Our Standard Queen Room was a good size. It was L-Shaped, with a small sitting area just off the bathroom with a desk and mirror to sit at and do your makeup. Parking is free, as is breakfast. The exterior courtyard is a beautiful space, and we really enjoyed sitting out there to eat breakfast. Our room looked out onto the courtyard, which was a nice view (and I imagine that the rooms on the front of the property probably have a great view of the downtown skyline).

The neighborhood this hotel is located in is a little questionable. There seemed to be a lot of homeless people congregating just down the street (near the hotel's parking lot). The hotel is just north of downtown so this is not incredibly surprising for a city of this size, but just something to be aware of. Also, while parking is free, the lot is incredibly small. Its capacity appeared to be about a third of the size of the hotel's room capacity. The lot also does not have a gate or fence, so make sure you don't leave any belongings in your vehicle.

Such a beautiful hotel! The rooms feel even bigger than they are due to the super high ceilings. Bathrooms are nicely updated.

A beautiful old hotel close to the waterfront, Andy Warhol Museum and PNC ballpark. It had the charm of an old manor, but was up to date on the actual room and amenities. Staff were helpful and you could order exactly what you wanted for breakfast ahead of time and designate when you wanted to pick it up. Although the immediate neighborhood looked a bit sketchy, I had no problem walking in all directions.

Allow the hotel itself is charming, the immediate neighborhood is not. It wasn't dangerous, but just a bit unappealing.

They were incredibly accommodating, friendly, and went above and beyond to not only offer me gluten-free oatmeal, but they called me to say that I left my necklace behind, and even offered to ship it back to me (we luckily weren't far, so we were able to go back later in the day to pick it up). The bar tender, Michael, was amazing and fantastic to chat with while enjoying his well crafted drinks.

The only issue is that it's not a sound proof building, so you can hear footsteps and doors closing, but as it's a beautifully well maintained historic building, this is something to be anticipated and shouldn't detract from stays.

Nowhere better to stay! Highly recommended! Beautiful historic hotel with everything you need for a great trip to Pittsburgh. We stayed here on a romantic getaway and loved it. Lovely rooms with classic furniture and a comfortable bed along with robes and plush towels. All the small details combine for a wonderful stay. We enjoyed the on-site bar with delicious cocktails, friendly staff, and shuttle service provided by Bob. So grateful the owners saved this gem from demolition! Check out this property and the others maintained by Priory.

It is a classic hotel from another time. It is clean and beautiful. The bed was comfortable and large.

The neighborhood is questionable and if there are more than 3 people in the bar, the bartender gets a bit flustered. The charcuterie board was nothing more than 1 type of cheese and meat. Very cheaply put together- like it was just dumped out of a box. Normally you expect at least 2 types of cheese and different accompaniments. The pick-up bag breakfast is also nothing to write home about. I would expect better food all around in a place like this- Especially for the price

I loved the charm of the old building and the antique furniture and details. The room had high ceilings, especially on the ground floor. My room was on the ground floor and was pretty large. Not all the rooms, however, are that large. The hotel is also wheelchair accessible with a lift from the street level and an elevator for the upper floors. The heating/cooling system was very quiet, and the bed was comfortable. The gravel-surfaced parking lot is across the street.

A minor issue: no place to store a bicycle.
