This boutique hotel in the Old Quarter of Hanoi is beautifully appointed in old world glamour with modern convenience. Perfectly located on Hang Gai Street, all the action is at your doorstep. The service was exceptional with attention to detail especially evident. The staff made us feel very special and was always there to help. The buffet breakfast is top notch. Also they have a huge beautiful Christmas tree outside. We really enjoyed our stay here!

As the buildings in the old quarter are small, the rooms and bathroom is on the compact side, however have been designed to make most of the space and still made comfortable. There was no view from our windows on the 3rd floor.

I really can't compliment the staff enough of Le Chanvre - nothing was too much, and they were always sweet and courteous no matter what!! The location is PERFECT, the hotel acting as a little island of tranquility in amongst the hub bub ^^

Very minor concerns but the pool is quite small, so bear that in mind ^^ (lovely as it was!) Similarly, rooms at the front of the hotel can sometimes end up a bit noisy as it's such a bustling part of town, so if you're bothered by city noises try to request a room at the back! (My mom found it too much and the staff swiftly moved us with no worries ^^ wonderful people!)

Loved this hotel! The location was excellent, the boutique design charming, the rooftop pool a stunner and the beds super-comfortable. But the two standouts were the breakfast and the staff. We'll miss them both! Mia and her team went out of their way to make us feel at home and looked after. By the time we left, we felt among friends thanks to their genuine warmth, interest and care. If I was a hotel manager I'd pay Mia top dollar - anything to keep her, she's a gem.

One of our rooms was a little on the small side with a not-great view, but hey, it's the old town, you can't change the geography - and it wasn't a big deal as we were out most of the time. My sister's room was bigger with better views, so there are options - maybe ask when you book if size / views are important to you.

The Staff were amazing, they really made the experience special, coming up and speaking to us at reception and also in the restaurant in the morning. Helping with advice for things to do and asking about our day when we returned and remembering what we had spoken about earlier. Definitely made it feel like a boutique hotel and not a faceless large hotel. Room was great, clean, comfy bed, good shower with great pressure and nice overall facilities. Also it was quiet given that you are in the old town and as soon as you step outside you are in the middle of Hanoi and noise that brings with it. The breakfast was very good, especially the coffee which we found to be disappointing in other Hotel breakfast options. Loved the cappuccino and iced Vietnamese coffee. The food offering was also of a good standard, varied and tasty. No al a carte option other than the egg station, but everything was super fresh, replenished and tasty. Particularly liked the sushi, dumplings on offer.

We stayed in a room with a terrace. Very spacious room, clean and very comfortable. The shower, bathtub, bath amenities, everything was well provided. The flowers in the room, fruit and wine service was delightful. The sauna, spa, and pool were always open and very refreshing after a long, sweaty walk through the old town. I wanted to shop daily in the old town, so the location here was perfect. Everything is within walking distance. Breakfast was also a pleasure, and I enjoyed it every day. I would like to mention that the service staff here was excellent. They are always warm and courteous in their welcome and respond instantly to requests. The room cleaning staff did a wonderful job as well. Especially Mia, your hospitality was better than any 5 star hotel. She was very helpful in communicating with us via email after booking, calling us at the airport, and smoothly resolving any issues throughout our stay. Mia made our stay zero stress and we were very impressed! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all your staff. Next time I visit Hanoi, I will definitely stay here again.

The hotel is beautiful, but what is more beautiful is Mia, the service worker and receptionist. She is just a joy to speak with and will help with anything needed in the hotel. I wasn't feeling my best unfortunately when I arrived at the hotel and she really cared for me and made sure I had what I needed to rest and recuperate. The facilities are great and the location is very good. Carter was also a very friendly guy on reception and his attention to customer service is perfect. Not invasive like in some high-end hotels, just genuinely interested in your wellbeing and happiness. Oh also! The beds are sooooo comfortable, I wish could have taken some of those pillows with me / they are next level :D goodbye Le Chanvre!

The gym is very small and the massage prices are quite high, considering the prices outside of the hotel are much much cheaper.

From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly, generous and professional. At check in we were warmly welcomed with delicious tea in a cool and beautiful lobby. The room was interestingly designed with modern facilities, comfortable bed and relaxing bathroom with bathtub. Breakfast offered a wide selection of tasty western and local dishes. We enjoyed drinks at the rooftop bar where we had a panoramic view of the city. The location in the old town is close to shops, restaurants spas and so on. A room higher up and at the back of the hotel will be quietest and offer the best views.

I stayed at Le Chanvre on two occasions during my trip through Vietnam, and on both visits, the hotel was fantastic. Mia and the team were excellent. They were always very attentive to ensure we had a pleasant stay, and they even arranged a room for me at short notice after a sudden schedule change meant I would be in Hanoi earlier than anticipated. The hotel is gorgeous, and the included breakfast was one of the best during our trip. I would not hesitate to stay with them again.

Everything about the hotel was perfect, the warm service provided by the receptionists, the helpful travels desk, the room facilities, the location, and the breakfast. The staff here speaks perfect English (way better than the custom at the airport😂) and are always willing to help. The facilities are excellent. Before I booked the hotel, I compared to lots of other choices in the old quarter and saw that the water pressure of the shower and the noise at night are common problems of hotels in the area. But Le Chanvre was great! It’s on a quiet street of this busy area and the shower works fine as well. Have to mention that as the hotel located in the center of the old quarter, it provides great convenience to explore the city. Almost everything is in walking distance. We totally enjoy the stay here. The breakfast was decent with a wide range of choices from traditional Vietnamese dishes to western ones. The coffee was so good. I even asked for the brand of coffee beans before I left haha. Choose the hotel if you are traveling here! You won’t regret it.

Location was fantastic. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and the staff were all very friendly. Service recovery for when things didn't meet expectations were very good as well. I'd totally go back to this hotel again if I go back to Hanoi.

It's the weirdest thing that their policy forbids the provision of bottled water beyond the daily 2 bottles - their bottle are also the smaller size. In my experience, even in more expensive cities, they don't usually cite policy when we ask for a little more water. Although they did in the end accept our request, we made it a point to get our own water from then on. Also, there are stairs leading to the main door, it would be kinder if they did have someone on standby to help with bags, particularly around the check in time. They do help, but as they are stationed inside, it's by the time we are at the top of the stairs. It could be because we were travelling during Tet, and they have less staff than usual?
