Perfect location near Hoan Kiem Lake and old quarter with countless cafes and restaurants to choose from. Staff are super attentive and eager to help with everything. Upon arrival, we were offered a cold beverage as well as a cold towel to freshen up. The bed was very comfortable with two types of pillows provided. The rooftop bar has a relaxed vibe overlooking the Lake and the 2 for 1 happy hour cocktails were great. Buffet breakfast had a varied selection with both Western and Vietnamese styles offered. Airconditioning worked exceptionally well and the bar fridge kept drinks cold. On checkout they had a porter take our bags to the bus depot on a scooter so we didn't have to carry them on our walk there. Service was 5 star!

Not a huge problem but due to the way the shower spout was positioned it meant the water falling didn't quite clear the bath tub resulting in water spilling onto the floor. The trick is not to place the floor towel close to the tub and let the water drain away first.

Our stay at this hotel was a truly memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome. The hospitality was impeccable — we appreciated every member of the team, from the doorman to the reception staff. Everyone was helpful, professional, and made us feel right at home. The hotel itself is beautiful. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and elegantly decorated. The rooftop is a real highlight, offering a spectacular view over the city — perfect for relaxing with a drink or enjoying the sunset. The pool was another favorite of ours: heated, beautifully designed, and with a breathtaking panoramic view. It was the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring the city. We also spent some time at the spa and were truly impressed. We visited twice during our stay and both times we left feeling refreshed and relaxed. The atmosphere is peaceful, and the staff made sure we had a great experience. Everything about this hotel exceeded our expectations. We would gladly come back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

The property was centrally located in the old quarter next to all the attractions and facilities the first time traveler would require. The staff were fantastic. We hadn’t booked our trip to Halong Bay before arriving nor had we arranged return transportation to the airport. Ordinarily we are the kind of travellers that like to do this independently without risk of being overcharged. I can assure anyone reading this review that the hotel staff went beyond our expectations, making arrangements and giving advice with prices that competitively beat all other alternatives. The breakfast was fresh, tasty and varied. Quality was superb. Comfortable rooms with stunning views of the lake. Hotel manager (sorry forgot his name) and Dana were incredibly warm, welcoming and on hand to assist with needs.

The room was absolutely gorgeous and the staff were amazing. Things I loved: - upon arrival, treated with top tier customer service and the check in process is seamless and exactly what you need after a long flight. Greeted with smiles, tea, snacks, towel and a run down of activities to do in the city - the room was exceptionally clean and the bed was the most comfortable I’ve stayed in at a hotel in a long time - at check out, they went to the trouble of helping me carry my bags in the rain to my second hotel which was about a 5 minute walk and I had a lovely conversation with the gentleman that helped me - made me feel comfortable as a solo black female traveller and always greeted me with genuine enthusiasm every time I came through reception, asking me if I had fun and how my day was. - location was perfect and within 5-10 minute walk of most things. Will absolutely be staying here again and will recommend this to everyone!

There was construction work being done next door which was extremely loud which isn’t the hotels fault, but did impact my sleep (no lie ins). Once this is finished, it’ll be perfect.

Everything was perfect for us at the San Grand. The staff has always been superfriendly and helpful. Location is great, in the old quarter close to the lake, and lots of local life around us. We avoided Beer Street which was awfully crowded.

We liked everything and will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends!

Upon arrival Anna and Dana greeted us and looked after us throughout our stay. Hugo and bin and the lovely ladies in the restaurant and all the staff were exceptional. The rooms are well appointed, breakfast buffet with the bonus of ordering a la carte was outstanding such a delightful way to start the day. The hotel is well located near the lake and easy access to all attractions. Afternoon tea refreshments are provided by the hotel and we enjoyed an exquisite dinner in the restaurant the night we arrived but one is literally spoilt for choice with all the restaurants in the locale to choose from…that was the only stress of our stay lol. We would sooo highly recommend this hotel that ticks all the boxes but to choose just one positive would be the exceptional service and smiles of the hotel staff 😀😀😀😀😀

We honestly couldn’t fault anything but the rains at some times. Yet each time you arrived and left the hotel the lovely staff were there to say hi and bye and hand you a hotel umbrella so you didn’t get wet.

From the minute my Grab taxi pulled up and dropped me off, the staff were amazing, attentive, so helpful and just THE most friendly people. I was serviced some tea and lotus seeds candies whilst my check in was completed, then my luggage was taken up to my room for me. Location was bang in the middle of the old town and I just stepped out into the middle of all the Hussle and bustle, but just as easy to step back out of it when I needed a rest! A really great location to see everything the old quarter has on offer, or order a grab taxi to travel further afield. The rooftop bar was great to watch sunset and have a cocktail (or two, as they have happy hour 2 for 1). From the bar you can see right across the city, over the lake, and down onto some of the street and all the activity that goes on. Breakfast was delicious, with a good spread on the buffet and some other dishes al a carte (eggs, Pho, Vietnamese coffee etc). I had a tiny issue with my air con - only that it didn't kick in when I put my key card into the switch, easily sorted by a quick call to reception. As it happened a couple of times, the manager went above and beyond to try to ensure I wasn't bothered by the issue and offered to move me to another room, which I declined, as it wasn't a big issue for me. But knowing they were so responsive and prepared to sort any issues out was re-assuring. I wouldn't hesitate to go back there and highly, highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is conveniently located near Ho Kiem Lake (2-3 small streets away but surprisingly having a very good view of the whole lake because of the low rise houses in between. It is in the middle of shopping areas and food streets where one can find very good food with good prices. Another big surprise is the complementary afternoon tea buffet, where we enjoyed a quiet lake view with delicious mini cakes n cookies and a good choice of tea and coffee in a very comfy environment. Another thumb up compliment is that in next early morning when we got to rush for the 9am flight, the cafe staff offered us meal boxes to take food (and drinks) from the breakfast buffet table for us to consume when we arrive at Airport. It was so impressive ! In fact it was suggested by the front desk staffs the previous night. All in all, everyone in the hotel wholeheartedly dedicated themselves to give every guest a most pleasant and enjoyable stay. Although the hotel is not the very grand type and its decoration is rather traditional, it is not only well-maintained but also presents an air of elegance. We are immersed in this elegance and feel so pampered by warm hospitality extended by every member of the staff. We must go back next time we are in Hanoi.

The key selling point for this hotel was the exceptional staff service from every member of the reception / front of house and the dining room. Special thanks must go to both Dana and Mark who both went above and beyond expectations. Initially there were not many vegan dishes available for breakfast but Mark ensured that specific dishes were made for us in line with our requests and the staff ensured that vegan cakes were bought from a local bakery for afternoon tea. Dana also made black sesame milk specifically for us. We were also upgraded to the signature suite for our second night which had an excellent lake view. We also had excellent treatments in the hotel Spa at very reasonable prices. And the whole reception staff came out to waive us off to the airport- a nice touch.

Please be aware that the standard and deluxe rooms are quite small. But it’s the staff service that compensates for this.

I recently had a wonderful stay at Lucien Hanoi Lakeside Hotel during my trip to Hanoi, and I cannot praise the experience enough. First and foremost, the staff were incredibly warm, friendly, and attentive throughout my stay. From the moment I checked in, they greeted me with genuine smiles and went out of their way to assist with every request, whether it was recommending local eateries, arranging transportation, or answering my questions about the city. Their enthusiasm and willingness to help made me feel right at home. Additionally, the room exceeded my expectations. It was simple, yet beautifully decorated with a cozy ambiance and, most importantly, clean—from the bedding to the bathroom, every detail was well-maintained. The comfortable setup made my afternoons and evenings of exploring Hanoi even more enjoyable, as I always looked forward to returning to a peaceful space. Without a doubt, this hotel has become my top choice in Hanoi. I will definitely be staying here again on my next visit, and I highly recommend it to anyone traveling to this wonderful city.
