Fantastic little hotel in the best, most central position. Great price. A bit tired , paintwork etc needs a freshen up. Balconies need attention. But as I didn't intend to spend too much time in the room, the price more than compensated for the less than perfect appearances. P.S. A normal size hair-dryer would be a big help though.
Sheets /Laundry being done in the communal sitting atrium area. Piles of linen visible to guests in hallway. Chipped and tired paintwork, visible signs if water leaks in some walls. Fantastic balconies off some guest rooms are a great bonus but let down by the poor presentation and upkeep.

Lovely and very helpful reception staff on the evening of Tuesday 7 May. Very helpful with maps and advice on Tuesday evening, and promptly calling a cab on request on Wed morning 8 May. It was also helpful knowing that reception staff were on hand 24 hours. I will recommend the Savoy Hotel to my friends.
Room overlooking the courtyard was great. It was raining heavily and there were, naturally, some heavy dripping noises outside. However, luckily I had ear plugs in my bag and slept soundly! It might be helpful to keep a supply of small earplugs at reception for use by hotel guests if required? A low rack for placing a suitcase on would be beneficial. It could slide in under the existing table.

The Savoy is something of an institution in the east. There are not many affordable hotels around that location, I think the other hotel nearby is about $2000 a weekend so I am quietly grateful for the Savoy. The staff are cheery, the manager/owner? is lovely. It is a basic hotel, think your ordinary motel across the country but it is in the middle of Double Bay.
There is no point paying affordable prices and then complaining the hotel is not the Intercontinental. The plumbing in our room was a little noisy when we showered but totally acceptable. We had lots of room in a family suite with three beds for $260 ish so what is not to love?

This was the 3rd time we have stayed here and love it ! Location great, staff great, ferry to circular quay at our doorstep, 10 minute drive to Bondi, relaxed, clean and laid back village style feel with great pubs and take aways for family meals etc. convenient Woolworths and Dan Murphy’s nearby also
Not much not to like for us really to be honest Parking can be a little hard at times to find spots if not parking in the local undercover car park Will always come back to stay here when we are in Sydney

The Savoy was a very convenient location for us as we were going to a concert at Moore Park. The rooms were old style, but very spacious and they provided more than one bed in each room so we had heaps of sleeping options which was fantastic!! Overall it was great value for money, good location and exactly what we neeeded.
There was a noisy drip outside my bedroom that was a bit annoying, could easily be fixed and the bathroom was very small, but the room was lovely and spacious so I guess you can't have everything.

You Can’t beat the location. Brilliant for everything from eateries to public transport including the ferry which will take you to Circular Quay ~ central Sydney. Plus being on the beautiful Sydney harbour
Hotel could do with a bit of TLC ~ corridors in places were cluttered which made me think of fire safety?

The location was fantastic. Room was smaller than expected but clean and tidy. Check out person was friendly and helpful.
Check in person could have been friendlier. No view from window and the lower level courtyard was not very appealing

I stayed on my own and only needed a safe, comfortable place for a few nights. Just a bedroom and bathroom. The location to the ferry dock was less than 10 minutes. I went for a sailing experience. The air con was much better than I have at home, so was the shower. A double shower. Excellent hot water. The bed and linen were super comfy and the linen changed daily. Very quiet, close to fashionable cuisine and also supermarkets. A small bar fridge provided, but communal kitchen and laundry also supported. Lift and stair access. Double Bay is close to city centre, so the proximity to the ferry was a nice touch. Room secured with touch card. I would recommend if sole traveler not needing to entertain or provide for kids on site as very affordable. I also liked the personal hygiene dispensers in the bathroom. The room has upgrades, great air conditioning. My internet via Telstra well supported.
Initially coming from QLD the building was old, but that added to the charm of staying in Sydney.

Clean and well serviced.
Bed was a bit uncomfortable after a few hours = needed a bit more padding. For elderly folk a safety handle in the shower area would prevent possible falls.
