Great room with a very comfortable bed. It had recently been renovated and had a new modern look . Our booking included breakfast and we were given a full breakfast that was superb. The dinner meal of Salmon and vegetables was excellent. (They have a good chef here ) We felt that this was a quality hotel to stay in. Considering what we paid for our stay this was definitely great value.

The only downside that we could think of was the vehicle noise thru the windows. ( we did notice that earplugs were provided in our room.)

The spotlights and arial were stolen off our car (worth approx $900) at 4am in the morning in the complementary parking lot supplied by the accom - this is definitely in no way the staffs fault however it was disappointing because we were not aware this was happening semi regularly as a guy (who we spoke to the day we left) let us know that he has the exact same spotlights and someone had tried to steal his four days prior - we ended up getting footage and could see him trying to enter multiple cars - writing this so other people using this accom are aware

Spacious renovated room with modern walk-in shower. Floor access was by lift (note: some rooms require access by steps). Price was excellent value on day of booking. Building is opposite City Park which is worth a look for its beauty and a free-to-view enclosure of monkeys.

Definitely not complaints but small observations: the tall vanity tap, though excellent for filling tall kettle, made it awkward to clean teeth etc without bending round it. Signage outside has the co-run Mercure being dominant, makes the Launceston Hotel less obvious when looking for it in daytime. Reception and guest toilet on ground floor could do with a makeover. Parking on site on busy days could be tricky.

Lack of signage out front! I had booked online via Booking.com which named the property as 'Hotel Launceston'. It was right on dusk when we arrived in the area & we couldn't see a sign to Hotel Launceston anywhere. After driving around the area 3 times we pulled over & called. It turns out the hotel is housed within the 'Mercure' Hotel complex(!) I think this issue needs to be sorted as I was quite frustrated & flustered by the time we finally drove up the correct driveway. Driving in an unfamiliar city in a hire car & you can't find the hotel is very unnerving! Perhaps a sandwich noard could be put out the frint so drivers new to the area like me can find 'Hotel Launceston' (!)

Low price, considering quality, at time of booking. Recently renovated and very comfortable room on first floor in main building, lovely tiled walk-in shower (though hand basin a bit small) in bathroom, very comfy bed, quiet room. Lift from reception, no steps required. Many other Hotel Launceston rooms require climbing a short flight of stairs, or have shower-over-bath, so check with staff if either is an issue. Location is less than 1km from city centre, very slight rise in road for those on foot.

Suggest a shorter boiling jug so as to fit under bathroom tap more easily. Teensy milk allocation, though staff happy to supply more on request.

The whole experience was very good and the rooms were well laid out. The bathroom appeared to have been renovated/updated recently. TV was very good with a range of channels etc to watch. We dined in the restaurant on two nights of our stay and were very impressed with the range of food and drinks quality and service. There was a great atmosphere with views over the Launceston Botanical Gardens.

We thought the access to our room from the reception and restaurant area could have been better. There is a lift installed but basically only services the main front building, with lots of stairs after departing the lift. I admit this may only apply to folk such as us (80yo) who find it harder to manage the stairs. If we were to book in the future, and that would be a strong possibility we would ask for a room with-in the main building. Maybe this building layout should be mentioned when booking, but apart from that we were very impressed overall.

What a great central location with a fabulous view of City Park. The bed was super comfortable, which is normally not the case at hotels, and the bath tub….I could have soaked away my stress in there for hours. All in all we couldn’t fault our stay and next time we are back in Launceston we’d be happy to book again. I’d booked a quick getaway for my husband’s birthday so we were extra surprised at the generous bottle of bubbly, chocolates and birthday card we found waiting in our room. Thank you so much!

Our room was well appointed and beds very comfortable. Pillows were large and comfortable. Room location on top floor certainly exercised our thighs going up and down the stairs! Bathroom was recently renovated and clean. Room cleaned every day and staff did a good job. Only had breakfast twice in dining room. There was only one staff member working in restaurant on our first day there and she was very helpful but she could only do so much with one pair of hands - refilling juice jugs, bread, cutlery, crockery, etc and also clean up tables of used dishes as well as make coffee! We didn't have breakfast there for a couple of mornings but did go the Sunday and same thing, only one staff member! There were empty used plates and cups and cutlery on just about every table in room! Disgusting! The poor girl couldn't keep up with coffee orders, refilling bread tray - there was no raisin bread left at all. Very poorly managed. At one stage a lady seated down for breakfast got up and cleaned up the tables so that people could at least sit at a clean table!! Company policy should ensure at least two people in dining area! Otherwise, location was an easy walk down to restaurants in town centre, but a bit of climb back.

The fluoro light outside room 225 on all night for no purpose - located in the linen cart bay. The blinds and curtains in the room do little to block the light-> restless nights’ sleep. Minor points: breakfast (7:30) items were barely warm. Poached eggs tasted strongly of vinegar. Signage for the hotel needs to be far more prominent if you are advertising/promoting “Hotel Launceston” as a separate entity. I missed the “hotel” when initially driving up to the property. It was all Mercure. Even the reception lacks appropriate signage.

Everything was amazing. Only issue was breakfast on the Sunday morning. The poor guy in restaurant was on his own. Doing everything attending to guests, making coffees, topping up buffet, cleaning tables. Literally every table was dirty from previous guests he didn’t have time to clear tables for new guests to sit at. The chef out the back was on his own. He was running off his feet. There should of been at least one more staff member helping. Food was amazing though. Couldn’t fault that.
