The hotel was a lovely period building. The room felt quite spacious as it had a high ceiling. There were tea/coffee facilities including biscuits. The bed was very comfortable. The wall heater was appreciated with the cooler nights at this time of year. The bathroom was modern. In summary, the room was very comfortable. Furthermore, I had a lovely breakfast at the associated restaurant next door.

The only negative was some noise from the live entertainment downstairs. However, I stayed Saturday night and this was something that I anticipated. The noise was not excessively loud, no bass but I could hear it in bed and this affected my sleep. Probably a good idea to check with the hotel in advance to see if such entertainment is expected.

A very spacious room/suite, with separate bed area, and very good kitchen facilities in the large lounge area. Room reached via the lift. Lovely full length balcony with chairs and tables, old style with lovely views of the town.

impersonal kind of place. Gaming seemed to be the thing. the room was incredibly dark and dingy, even with the lights on, as the ceiling was so high, with office style recessed daylight bulbs. the old style room cried out for a chandelier type light fitting. the photos must have been taken with a very bright flash!! the bathroom was an opaque green glassed in box, albeit very spacious, next to the bed. No privacy afforded there!

our second visit to this hotel, its still as we remembered it, rooms were large, clean and comfortable. Alittle on the dark side with it being an older property and small window. Good selection of teas and biscuits provided. Lots of lovely fresh fluffy towels too. We ate in the bistro at night and the food was lovely and had breakfast on the mornings and that was excellent too. Parking is a little awkward, we had to park on the street in front to unload cases and then received a leaflet of how to find the carpark to the rear when we checked in

car park entry could do with the potholes filling in, no suitcase rack for unpacking the suitcase so had to use the chairs, bed was a little uncomfortable sagged in the middle, alot of noise from doors downstairs banging until early hours of the morning

Location, right in city centre. Lovely old hotel and decor.friendly service at the front desk. Clean and room well serviced. Lovely old balcony, not accessed from room. There was a lift which was great for my elderly mother. Great shower with good water pressure. Room well equipped with microwave, fridge, desk, tv.

As we were there for only 2 nights, Monday and Tuesday, the bar a restaurant weren’t open. ( They are open from Wednesday).

Beautifully decorated with a comfy bed and a great bathroom.

We liked everything. However, we had a message a day or so before arrival telling us that the George Hotel was also a nightclub venue and that there might be noise at night. We replied and asked for a guaranteed quiet room. The reply from the hotel was that we would have to upgrade to guarantee a quiet room. We did not upgrade but decided to negotiate on arrival. The fact was that the room we had been allocated was very quiet as there seemed to be no noisy events on during our stay. We thought it off-putting to be told the hotel might be noisy the day before we arrived.

I am physically handicapped and am unsteady without a walking stick. When the main bar closed at 9:30 pm the barman suggested we go to the gaming area. I did not have my walking stick and after we were served one drink apparently the manager instructed the barman to decline me any further service. The manager did not speak to me which I regarded as poor customer relations. I spoke to the barman and said I am a licensee and well aware of the Responsible Service of Alcohol. My name is Kevin Silberberg and I was in Room 11 on 11 and 12 January, 2024. I am seriously considering whether I might stay at the Craig Hotel next time.

The location is simply superb for staying in Ballarat central. While it is a modern large functioning hotel, it also has a nice historic vibe. I think the way they have modernized their ensuites was very clever. We arrived on a very cold day but the room was already warm

The chair cushions were a bit saggy, fine for lounging around in but I was using one as a desk chair. While the drapes could be opened it would be good if the sheer curtains behind them could also be opened - for those that would like more natural light

Great location, A great feel to the hotel and it had a old school feel even through the building. good value for money

the bathroom door didn't close properly so if anyone uses the toilet, unfortunately you can hear is all throughout the room. You want to make sure you're close with your partner.. Wouldn't recommend staying here with a friend - ha! Unfortunately you can hear the night club Thumping when lying in bed at 1am..

Spacious room with separate bedroom and lounge allowed us to spread out and relax more between events of the comp we were at. Bathroom was roomy as well, didn't feel cramped. Electric blankets in the bed were divine, perfect for those chilly nights so we could have a good sleep. The kitchenette was great, we were able to make our own food and the fridge was a good size for staring everything. Very happy overall!

The shower wet the bathroom floor a fair bit, which wasn't great. Aesthetically the bathroom looked great but functionally, no door on the shower meant a wet floor and soggy bathmats. The couch wasn't the most comfortable, quite narrow and not very cushioned. Also the one ply toilet paper was a bit of a downer. Bit fussy but when the rest of the room is so lovely, we expected a bit more!

The room was on the second floor fortunately there is a lift. The hotel is a heritage building and maintains the features of the time, high ceilings, sash windows. We had a bathroom with a wet floor, walk in shower and other features for people with mobility issues, handles, rails etc. all very practical and marvellous if you needed them.

The lighting is awful, little recessed lights in the ceiling , discreet bedside lights and a light on the desk, almost impossible to read unless you sit directly beside a light, the whole impression is of gloom except for the bathroom where the sun streams in. The wifi is very poor unless you are sitting outside the reception office downstairs.
