Fantastic location, walking distance of Ballarat CBD, very comfortable bed (with electric blanket). Shared bathrooms were large, clean and well presented. Nice bar downstairs and a great coffee shop next door for a morning heart starter! Excellent value for money, budget accommodation.

The automated booking-in process was a bit weird. By 4 pm I had not received any information about how to gain access to the accommodation. Contacted the information email address and got no reply. Checked the booking.com website and there was a hard-to-find message link, clicked it and there was a message, saying you had to provide a photo of your driver's license to an email address. Once this was done, I then received an SMS with the access details. Surely this information about providing a driver's license should have been made clear when the booking was first made

I loved the room. Spacious area. One queen bed and one single which I shared with my brother as we were there for work. Location couldn't have been better as our worksite was directly across the road. We were working on the train tracks there. Facilities were good. Kitchen sink to wash our dishes, all the cutlery you needed, microwave, stove tops with a mini oven - great for a quick fixed meal. I loved how easy the instructions were to follow with checking in. Thank you to Eastern Hotel for making it as simple as you could also allowing us to check in as late as we did. I would definitely stay again if I get the chance to work there. Great value for money and I absolutely love the high ceilings!

The basin in the bathroom kept clogging up when I went to brush my teeth. This issue was fixed about the third day we were there so it wasn't so bad. I'm not a fan of communal toilet/showers/bathrooms but in saying that, it was ALWAYS CLEAN when I went in there. If I were to pick on one thing it would be sharing a fridge. There's always that chance another guest might help themselves to your items in there. I would hope not but you never know. With this recent stay, however, nothing I had in the fridge went missing. I still wouldn't mind having my own fridge in my room though.

Pretty good amenities for the price - full kitchen with oven and stove, electric blankets, roller shutters, etc. The walls were thick and the place felt quite peaceful. Convenient location, quick walk to the bus stop.

Hot water takes a while to run up the pipes. The remote for the overhead light didn't seem to work, but there was a bedside touch lamp. Nearby trains were a little noisy.

I found the double bed to be very comfortable! We couldn't figure out how to put the blinds down so the sun and noise came in early but that wasn't a big deal. We needed to be up and at 'em early anywho.

I can't really think of anything to improve on, we knew what we were paying for and what we wanted was just a place to sleep and keep our stuff stored as we would be out and about during the day and at night time till late for work.

The Eastern does exactly what it says in the tin! It’s clean and tidy budget accommodation. The room was clean, as were the shared bathrooms and kitchen. I read all the comments before arriving, and was a tad apprehensive. I couldn’t complain about anything. The heater worked a treat snd do the room was plenty warm enough… so much so I turned it off before I went to sleep. I didn’t try the leccy blanket… so can’t comment… but don’t think gif one minute it wouldn’t have worked. The bar was a bit noisy… it is a pub underneath so I knew that was coming. It didn’t bother me, other than the dilemma should I nip down for a wee dram before shut eye! I didn’t go down but turned the light off and was gone!!

Bathrooms a bit chilly.

I loved the place like it was honestly lovely, the staff were fantastic and was a great experience overall. I got left alone to do my thing too plus it was extemely clean too. After staying a day or 2 I booked a whole week... so cheers and thanks Eastern Hotel you rock!

Bed was comfortable, room was clean, good powerpoints and heating

Shower in one of the bathrooms - the fan is super noisy and the fan shroud above the shower are half blocked and need cleaning. When you don't open the window the steam starts to drip on you.

The room was quite comfortable, being a cold Ballarat night I turned the heater on straight away and it worked instantly. The shutters did a great job of keeping road noise to a minimum. The electric blanket worked very well and the bed was comfy! the common area and the bathrooms were clean. The instructions that were sent for check in were clear, easy to follow and made it easy to get in. The location was fantastic, and it was an easy walk to go and get dinner, though if you want it’s just downstairs at the pub! YES, it’s budget, YES, it’s loud on a Saturday night, but really, I still got a full night’s sleep, had a hot shower in the morning and got exactly what I paid for.

Next time I’d prefer a rock and roll band over heavy metal!!!

The price, the convenience, close to train station. The Ballarat leagues club just a short walk for an exceptional meal at a reasonable price.

The most unfortunate part was location for personal reasons but nothing to do with the accom itself.

This is the only place I stay at in Ballarat. The rooms are clean, it's in a great location, it's cheap as chips, it's a no-fuss set-up to check yourself in and out. Love it. Actually moving here for work for the next 3 years but will be recommending this place to anyone visiting. They've even got much better pillows from the last time I stayed here which was literally my only complaint.

They did accidentally charge me twice initially but I sent a message and a day or two later that was all sorted. There's also not a lot of facilities, if you were here for a longer stay you might try somewhere else but if you're just in town for a few nights this spot is perfect.
