We changes rooms as the initial booking provided a room suitable for a commercial rep. We upgraded to a suit and we were very happy with it. The hotel is adjacent to the railway station and the railway crossing so we heard and got used to the railway crossing bell. It wasn't a problem but was a surprise.

The restaurant has been leased or sold to another provider so there was a disconnect. This resulted in not having a lounge room other than your room. No lounge room meant no fireplace and no bar so you have to leave the hotel.

The Lola suite was "pretty" and spacious Would recommend the restaurant, nice food and attentive service.

Unfortunately the hotel is adjacent to a level crossing, but they do provide ear plugs.

Really beautiful property, warm bedroom, so nice to have the heater on and the room comfortable on arrival. Lovely touch. Really comfortable bed, beautiful linens and accessories. All very clean and smelled nice. Lovely bathroom amenities. Great shower pressure. Enjoyed my meals at Lola. Service was slow but food was lovely.

Only issue was slow service at Lola, which did throw my morning out as breakfast was greatly delayed. The train station opposite was noisy with tooting trains but they seemed to stop overnight, until around 5.30am.

The room was very clean, as was the bathroom. A late check in went well and the restaurant food and service were excellent. The location was very good, being very close to the main shopping street but still quiet at night.

We had a problem with the cleaner putting the used bathmat on top of our towels which were to be used again. On notifying staff this was quickly remedied by the provision of clean towels. The restaurant as mentioned was excellent, though expensive. The room was very small, you can't judge by the website photos. If you wanted to watch TV you would have to lie on the bed and look sideways (thankfully that wasn't an issue for us)

The room had been decorated in period furniture and charm. It was large and nice and bright. Art work had some thought and the bathroom was roomy with a walk in shower and lovely soap, shampoo and hair conditioner. The writer appreciated the owners approach to the environment by not stocking small individual bathroom items and the washing of guests towels if staying for more than one night.

The mattress needs replacing as both my husband and myself rolled to the middle!! The bed was in a tight spot that with very limited room between the wall and each end of the bed.

We stayed in the one-bedroom apartment with a spa. The room was very cozy, with a fantastic blend of old-school charm and modern updates, providing a very warm and comfortable place to go back to in the evening. The staff were super friendly, both on the phone and in person, which made the stay even better. We also appreciated that the parking was secure and the location was only a short walk to the center. Highly recommend!

Can't think of anything we didn't like.

The hotel and room were stunning - so beautifully decorated and clean. One of my favourite places I've stayed in. We also ate in the restaurant and our dinner was superb. All staff members were fantastic, welcoming and eager to make us comfortable. Our bed was luxurious and we loved the spa!

Our room was directly across from the train station, so unfortunately we were woken regularly throughout the night by boomgate bells, train horns and screeching on the tracks. Ear plugs were provided on the bedside tables which worked for my husband (he was very happy) but not so much for me. Perhaps more glazing on the windows would help. I'm sure the rooms on the other side were very quiet.

Nice restoration with a really good sized room. For the fan of good pub renovations, this is worth a look. Really helpful and kind staff.

For the amenities, taking into account the noise, there are several better options for your stay in Ballarat. But for the fan of good pub renovations, this is worth a look. I find the cafe/restaurant to be formulaic and soulless. The design is neither here nor there, and doesn't really celebrate the importance of the building.

The Provincial is an excellent hotel, absolutely beautiful room, extremely comfortable bed and great location if you want to walk around downtown.

The only issue we had that the hotel is across the road from the train station and that meant it was extremely loud. The trains started running at 5.53 and from then every 30 minutes or so we were woken up, which was a shame on a Sunday morning when we wanted to have a lazy morning.

I loved the room we stayed in, it was spacious with a comfy bed and larger bathroom. The whole room was furnished tastefully and thoughtfully. There is a restaurant as well, and our dinner/dessert was out of this world good. The staff were attentive and pleasant. Onsite car parking behind a gate, outstanding for your vehicle to be safe. Our whole experience was positive and happy. Highly recommend.

it is a bit close to the train station and the boom gates, we didn't hear anything from our room, so that was a bonus.
