We were greeted by a very friendly person at checkin. The motel was close to the Spirit of Tasmania Terminal and there was a choice of eateries nearby. Our room had everything that we needed and the bed was comfortable.

The lighting could have been brighter, especially in the morning when we had an early checkout for the Spirit of Tasmania.

Very conveniently located to the Spirit of Tasmania berth. We were late checking in and the owner had left the room unlocked for us which made it very easy upon our arrival. (He also messaged us to advise same, much appreciated.) The room was of a good size, clean and the bed was comfortable. Air conditioning worked well and was very quiet! All the facilities, such as kettle, toaster crockery and cutlery were provided.

The room smelled strongly of whatever cleaning agent had been used before we arrived, so we needed to open windows etc. But at least we knew it had been cleaned and the smell dispersed through the evening.

Have stayed multiple times. Owner Paul is exceptionally friendly and very accommodating, so easy to deal with. Rooms are clean, comfortable and have everything you need in a motel. Extremely competitive price.

The only drawback would be the location on a main road (Princes Hwy). Noisy during the day but quietens dramatically at night once peak is over.

Ripponside is on the main road into Geelong. It was easy to access after spending the day with family celebrating Boxing Day, We had traveled from Hamilton, Western Victoria, earlier in the day and wanted a rest before returning home. Other guests staying at Ripponside that night were mainly spending a night in Geelong before boarding the Spirit of Tasmania the next morning. I got up early and went down the Spirit of Tasmania terminal to see the ship arrive. The terminal at Geelong is much better than the ones at Port Melbourne and Devonport. The coffee at the Anchors Rest Cafe was good. It was nice to relax and have some 'time out'.

We did not manage to connect to the WiFi, nor the streaming services. However, we were so tired that we decided not to worry about this. We watched some Free to Air TV and went to sleep.

Room was basic but we didn't expect the Ritz. It was clean although we were a towel, mug and glass short for three people. Noise was tolerable but it had its moments being on a quite busy intersection on a Saturday night.

Parking was a bit of an issue as the painted lines didn't marry up to the room numbers but we worked it out by parking over the line, therefore leaving space for the units either side.

Our stay at this property was very pleasant and we had no issues at all. We checked in a little bit late but the manager was very friendly and nice. The room was very clean and tidy. The toilet and bathroom were clean and no smelly odour. The tv was subscribed with a lot of channels Netflix, prime etc.. and the most important part was it had a microwave. Very convenient for travellers like us.

It took me back to when my parents used to take us on trips. It's a beautiful old fashioned motel and is one of the cleanest and loveliest we have seen in a very long time. Management is so friendly and if want to know what's on in Geelong he is the go to man. The location is perfect it's walking distance to Rippleside beach and restaurants. It's serviced daily and is so clean. Highly recommend this property and the management. Ten out of the ten.

Our stay wasn't long enough

Arrived late from the Spirit of Tasmania ferry. No worries - if Paul (Manager) knows that a guest is arriving from the ferry he will stay open. Also he couldn't have been more cooperative, helpful and friendly. Room was average Australian motel room, nothing special but clean.

Fridge in room, tiny, and heavily frosted up. In rating value for money, I am maybe not being fair as on the previous night I had stayed at the Lighthouse Hotel, Ulverston, TAS, which in terms of value for money set the bar extremely high. See separate review.

Ideally placed for travelling on the Spirit of Tasmania. Have to be alert to access the driveway from the busy main road, if you miss it go around the block towards the beach and try again. The manager will explain the easy way in and out (once you get there the first time). Old-style place but more than adequate, clean and has everything. The manager is attentive and helpful and will show where to reach cafes and restaurants or a beach walk (recommended) if you don't know the area.

Close to great places, like wood fire pizza, the beach and a park. Cute and clean room. Bargain price
