- The location was awesome. It was near and within walking distance from almost everything - shops and malls, theatres, eateries, tram stations. The eateries nearby were also open late, some open till 2am for late night dinner or supper. - The room was very clean and comfortable. - I was initially worried that the lighting would be dim (based on the photos I'd seen), but it was good and adequate. - Having a proper desk was really helpful at times when some work needed to be caught up on. - Having an ironing board to do some ironing (for any formal events), was also very helpful. - Having a kitchenette with utensils and cutlery, and a kettle and microwave, was a great convenience. - Staff were pleasant and helpful. - I really liked that there was an offer of 1 free mini-bar item if guests opt to skip one day of housekeeping (to inform the front desk the day before). I don't usually need housekeeping every day and this was the first time I'd encountered something being given for it.

- Perhaps just the bathtub which had sides that sloped a little but which could not easily be seen as the tub was clean and white. I was a little afraid of slipping if I stepped on the sloped slides by accident, so some care was needed when showering and when entering and exiting the tub. Other than this, it was a great stay for me, as mentioned in the other comments about what I liked.

Good location with lots of shops for food and close to transport. Apartment with good sized with one large area for the lounge, dining and kitchen. Full sized fridge, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. Balcony so we could open the door to get fresh air into it. Nice dining table and chairs. Comfortable couch with table for drinks. Large format TV. The bathroom was a good size with cupboard, bench and hanging space. Shower pressure and regulation of hot and cold was okay. Bedroom was good with side table with good lamps. Good blockout blinds and sound proofing. Bed was fairly comfortable. Ours was 2 beds put together with a bumpy area on the middle. My side felt a little uneven like some large and heavy man had been sleeping in it.

We liked the property but it could be improved by; a table and 2 chairs on the balcony, kitchen having more than 3 plates of 3 types, and 3 sets of each cutlery piece because it meant if we were making a small lunch and then making dinner we’d run out of them and have to hand wash or run the dishwasher. A small pot to say heat baked beans would have been good - only had very large pasta pot. Would have liked a medium sized non-stick fry pan and a pair of tongs. There was a fry pan but it wasn’t non-stick. Would have like a toilet brush.

Incredibly accommodating, friendly and helpful staff. Spectacular views of the city, especially after sunset. Great location, lots of options for food, lots of options for shopping. Always smells fantastic in the foyer, which is proof that the hotel is kept immaculately clean. Have many other comforts and utilities, such as a gym and pool. The only negative thing was one staff member who would constantly interrupt you mid-sentence. He was great otherwise, but made it a bit difficult and annoying when trying to discuss things relating to my stay. M the other stuff, particularly Annabelle, were fantastic. Apart from that extremely, extremely minor issue I cannot fault the hotel.

I really can't fault this hotel. We arrived at 1am and were greeted with the sweetest receptionist, who gave us all the hotel information and booked us in for breakfast the following morning. The 24-hour reception made our late arrival so stress free. We booked a 1 bedroom apartment with a fold out sofa for our 16 year old daughter, which was already made up for her. . We were so impressed with the layout, cleanliness, and how roomy it was! Couldn't fault it. First impressions lasted for our 3 night stay! Both the beds, (fold out and king) we're comfortable. We didn't use the kitchen, but everything was there if you wanted to have a night in! The pool was refreshing after our big days of shopping and adventures! The hotel itself is walking distance to everywhere we want to go. We had a pleasant 20-30 minute steady walk to Southbank for dinner one evening, we walked 25 minutes to Southern Station outlet, then another 5 minutes over the foot bridge to Marvel Stadium. We wandered Chinatown and Bourke Street.mall , just a block away. Location was ideal for us. There are options like trams, ubers etc.. the city tram was always so busy so we opted to just walk as it's doable! Amazing Thai massage right next door that was open late, so we treated ourselves after being on our feet all day! We would absolutely recommend this hotel to everyone we get the chance to and will most definitely be returning! We're already excited to bring our 2 younger children with us next time and will 100% stay here again for our city adventures. All the reception staff we met during our stay were so kind and accommodating. They even have scales in the lobby, so we could weigh our bags to add extra baggage for our flight! This was easily and happily accommodated to at midnight.

Would be handy to have a PowerPoint or extension lead accesible to the other side of the bed so we could charge both phones during the night on the bed side tables. But that certainly isn't a negative, just feedback. We found there to be nothing negative at all.

The location is very central and convenient for staying in the CBD. The one bedroom apartment is generous in size and well appointed. I was on the 18th floor and had plenty of natural light which can be hard to find in Melbourne. The staff were welcoming, courteous and helpful.

It was noisy and the air conditioning in the bedroom was inadequate. I was on the 18th floor and the roar from air-conditioning plant on lower buildings, combined with the street noise was considerable. There was one night when a band playing locally in one of the nearby pubs kept me awake past midnight. The room was also very stuffy, the air conditioning only seemed to work in the sitting room, not in the bedroom. It would have been great to open a window, but the noise was too loud from outside. I asked if it was possible to have a floor fan which would have solved all my issues but was told that they are not available.

Nice and central to the city near central shopping district and right by Chinatown with excellent eating restaurants and bars meters away. Rooms were comfortable and warm. Beds were acceptable but we slept ok.

TV was hotel-provided broadcasts only with access to internet streaming so we ended up using our iPads for entertainment. No good coffee! Room cleaning and towel change was not automatic and we discovered we had to request it be done. We found this somewhat disconcerting but must have missed it in the blurb. (stayed here a couple of times before in recent years and there was full cleaning service then - expected the same - oh well, things change… ).

Excellent location, very close to trams, theatres and Woolworths supermarket. Seconds away from restaurants and shops. Loved the pool, spa and gym, a great way to unwind after busy days exploring Melbourne. The apartment was clean and spacious. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Nothing, but being in the centre of a major city with active night-life, the street noise and lights could be heard and seen from the apartment, so eye mask and earplugs are recommended to help with sleep.

Everything was perfect apart from the spa, we booked your hotel because i used to come with my husband. I came this time to reflect on memories of the times we shared there at mantra on russel.my husband passed away in march this year.

My sister in law and I were excited to get in the spa to find that it was so cold. I called reception to complain and the reception came up pretty timely and found that someone had switched of the heater for the spa. Once he turned in on and could feel the hot water we got out and said we will try it again after dinner. When we came back it was working as it should. A bit disappointing as we had to put cold wet bathers back on and it put a bad perception of the time spent.

Excellent experience all round. Terrific system for car parking and access to hotel/room. I expected adequate accommodation, good location, comfortable and practical rooms and properly up to date and clean. I got all of these, plus, outstandingly helpful, friendly and polite staff and lots of little details that made it all better. Little salt sachets in the room, a nespresso compatible pod machine and a myriad of other small details that took our experience from adequate to exceptional. There are plenty of hotels in Melbourne that offer 24 hour room service, concierge service and plush lobbies and facilities. If this is what you need and cost is no option, go ahead. But, If you want an outstanding location, practical, comfortable and well appointed rooms, cheap and convenient car parking and staff that appreciate that small details make a huge difference, then I would recommend Mantra on Russell as your first pick.

A place for a bar and bar snacks to drop into during lunch or early evening before heading out would have made this property 10/10. Unfortunately, there was no onsite bar or even a common area with big screens for the tennis. This would truly top this hotel and make it perfect! There is a lot of room outside the gym and pool that could be converted into a roof top bar.
