We enjoyed our stay at The Lancemore. It was quirky, staff were friendly, breakfast was ample for a continental breakfast, this hotel is in China Town, so food choices are amazing and very a central location. Happy hour of free drinks was a bonus.

We really only had one little complaint and that was the size of the King Room. If you have a lot of luggage, size up your room. Also, if you need a long shower, you may need to do it in stages as the water doesn't escape quickly down the drain letting water run into the small bathroom. To wash my hair I used a towel to stop the bathroom floor from flooding - we were in room 610.

Lancemore on Crossley is quintessential Melbourne. And I have stayed at Sofitel, Langham, Crown Towers, Melbourne Place, Ritz Carlton, and some others not worth mentioning. If you want to visit Melbourne only to enjoy what can be offered by every other city, and be on the door step of the mall, then maybe you should stay somewhere in the centre of the city, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it. And it wouldn't really be Melbourne. If you want to really experience Melbourne, follow the steps that people who live in Melbourne city really take; experience a refined, curated and humbly sophisticated hotel, that only Melbourne could offer, then stay at Lancemore on Crossley. The lobby, the lifts, the rooms, the terrace overlooking heritage buildings on Bourke Street - are all art - and although pretentious staff wouldn't be out of place here - they will not be found.

If I wanted a swimming pool, I'd visit a different city. This is Melbourne. Stroll over to City Wine Shop and enjoy the best schnitzel and slaw you have ever had, try the daily pour - it will undoubtably be good. Walk to the theatres, walk to China Town. Catch a five minute tram to the busy tourist zones, if you must. Grab a morning toastie from Spring St Grocer and explore Old Parliament House and the surrounding gardens which are only a few hundred metres away. This is the superior end of Melbourne's CBD after all.

Location was excellent! Great for Her Majesty's or Princess Theatres. Beds were lovely and soft. Room was clean, simple, and big enough for our needs. Free cocktail hour was lovely! Staff were friendly and helpful, but didn't overdo it/give false chirpy greetings every time we entered and exited. It made things feel more warm/like home.

Very minor complaints. Occasional late night noise from people leaving bars. Was hard to find any seats at free cocktail hour. Sometimes cleaning staff didn't straighten the crumpled bottom sheets (just the top sheet and blanket). Fridge was almost full with minibar items, which we had to remove ourselves in order to put anything else in there, and put back at the end of our stay.

Lovely boutique hotel located in a quieter area of the CBD just past Chinatown, and within walking distance to the heart of the city. Room was spacious with extremely comfortable bed and pillows. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the complimentary drinks hour was a nice way to start the evening before heading out for the night. The rooftop terrace was serene and it provided a peaceful space to take in the views of the surrounding area.

The air conditioning for the room was hard to control as it would take a while for the temperature to reach my preferred setting, and sometimes the temperature wouldn't change at all (which was a bit frustrating during the colder nights).

The staff were so helpful and friendly. The location was perfect. Close to some great cafes and restaurants and walking distance to the main shopping area. Breakfast was also surprisingly good considering the area where breakfast is served is tiny. Happy hour was a nice surprise too! I l found the beds and pillows so comfortable, like sleeping on a cloud. Rooms were also a decent size.

The breakfast and happy hour area could do with some more seating as there doesn’t seem to be enough for the number of guests. Our room was quite noisy and we could hear the street cleaners and rowdy Friday night crowd, though our kids and my sister in other rooms did not - not much the hotel can do about that though.

Before we arrived we received an email asking if there was any way they could help with our stay. Do contact them if there is anything - especially if you need parking. When we arrived the staff were extremely helpful - couldn't ask for better, friendly in just the right way. The hotel has an arrangement with a nearby parking station that is quite economical - thanks so much. The room was very clean and comfortable, good shower and comfortable bed, and the lifts nice and smooth. The happy hour was very much appreciated and enjoyed. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but it looked lovely as we passed through one morning. The location is perfect for this side of the river. There are nearby small eateries, theatres, museums and amazing parks - all within walking distance, and of course it is right at the edge of China Town. Excellent value for money!!!!!!!

Our King Room was nice and spacious with plenty of room to lay out our suitcases and not trip over anything. Bed was huge and provided ample space for my wife and I.

Bathroom design is horrible with the door opening against the mirror and needing to be closed to practically use the bathroom, however being such a tight space meant it was often very humid in there after a shower meant the door needed to be open for sufficient ventilation.

Absolutely beautiful interiors all throughout the building from the lobby to the rooftop terrace. All design items come together to create a great experience at this hotel. The hosting hour (which was inclusive with my room type) was a great addition to the stay with beer,wine and soft drink available from 5-6. I booked the design room which was designed with a matte concrete finish wall black hardware and glass bricks which I adored and matched the advertised images. All staff encountered were lovely and welcoming. The addition of the rooftop terrace is amazing! It has such a lovely,open southern facing view (Collins St facing) which made for a scenic evening drink and a beautiful sunrise. Had an amazing stay here and it won’t be the last.

The room service menu could have a few more additions however with the central CBD location of the hotel you have so many surrounding options on your doorstep

The vibe of this hotel is great. Location is excellent if you want to be in the heart of the CBD (central business district) but be warned the area gets very crowded. That said, the hotel itself was great. The staff was super nice and accommodating. The bed was comfortable, room was super clean. They’ll validate parking for you for $25 AUD per day if you need, and it’s a block over from the hotel so pretty convenient. The chandelier in the lobby is everything! Kind of hip vibe. Everything is accessible. There are hundreds if not thousands of restaurant bars and even 24 hr minimarts within the 5 block radius of the hotel alone. Also has 24 hr reception which is great and less common in Australia than you’d think. Genuinely really happy with our stay here.

The hallways are a bit confusing to get your bearings on where your room is. Once you figure it out though it’s actually fine. Hate the carpeting in the hallways, not conducive to rolling suitcases but that seems to be a common problem in hotels so can’t fault them for this too much. Also would have loved a robe in the room but I’m honestly nitpicking though.

Everything about the hotel is excellent. They clean our room everyday, the hotel hallway smells amazing, staff were always helpful and smiling, the room they gave us has an amazing view. The lounge/entryway/dining area looks spectacular and of course the location- right smack in the city and close to tram and train stations, which helps a lot.

Not the hotel’s fault at all but there were nights when i got woken up by drunk people shouting outside. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants so it can’t be helped.
