A stay at this grande dame of Melbourne makes for a nostalgic experience and a sense of being a part of a fading history when elegance and decorum were taken for granted. Everything you love about spacious rooms ! The breakfast is a treat and the location ticks all the boxes .

Plumbing (mixer and hot water ) was temperamental at times. I would have liked to see a commitment to reducing carbon footprint with recycling bins and only laundering towels if required

The room was gorgeous and spacious. The view was pretty - right across from the park. The online staff interactions were very nice. The hotel is really pretty with a great location. They surprised us with a room upgrade, bottle of champagne and a nice card for our honeymoon stay! That was a really nice touch. Everything was wonderful, with one exception. The concierge was very helpful with our bags. They stored them safely while we explored the city before our room was ready for check in... then when we went back to the hotel to retreive our bags and check in... they had already put our bags in our room for us. That was so nice and helpful!

The front desk staff didn't greet us in a friendly way. They took a while to acknowledge us and when they did it was a bit cold. They were perfectly helpful and did their job, they just weren't particularly warm or friendly. Even so, that interaction was only a small part of our stay.

The details were so lovely, not a minimalist boring hotel by any means. But so tasteful, clean and tidy. Any issues we had were dealt with promptly and generously. A couple of times our TV did not work and we were given free breakfast while we waited for it to be fixed which was very kind. The location was very convenient for all city exploration and close to transport options for going further.

We found it hard to get in contact by phone a number of times prior to checking in and a couple of times whilst staying. Our tv didn’t work a couple of times but this was fixed promptly.

Firstly, we have heard so much about The Windsor from my parents who went there a few times when they were young back in the 50s and It lived up to their recollections. A stunning piece of architecture inside and out and considering it's age has stood up well. The staff were brilliant and the location was perfect. The large bed was very comfortable.

Our first floor room had windows onto the back alleyway and was next door to a storage room, so the crashing and banging loud noises in the early morning (e.g. rubbish and various construction noises) in particular woke us up. I understand that is mostly unavoidable in the city, but next time I think I'll ask for a room on a higher floor.

We had an overnight stay in Melbourne to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary, so it was the perfect location for the restaurant which our kids had given us a gift voucher to. There were staff available in the lobby all day and night who were attentive to our every need. We loved that there was even a pillow menu if we had wanted a certain type of pillow! The room was beautifully spacious and furnished with lush curtains and velvet chairs. The bathroom was clean and well appointed, and of course, we loved the white fluffy gowns! We felt like we were in an episode of Brideshead revisited with the beautiful staircases and lobby furniture, and the concierge car parking was worth the cost for the convenience. We would love to come back for another special occasion.

This was my second time staying at The Windsor. As a solo female traveller I felt safe and welcome. The customer service is amazing- very welcoming. The air conditioning was a bit loud - especially as it was cycling on and off at temperature. But given the classic age of the property having aircon might be considered a luxury!! I love the classic charm. I like to imagine what it was like at the hotel in its early days. The stair case is grand and the artworks adorning the walls are lovely. And the Orchids!!!!

Air conditioning. While ok for me, the shower over bath may be an issue for some with mobility issues.

I booked here for a special occasion and the quality of the facilities and old world ambiance provide a unique experience that can't be replicated in a more modern hotel. The room sizes and appointments are excellent.

I was disappointed when I arrived. There are limited parking spots out the front of the building and they were full so I waited, double parked for one to become vacant. I found it rude for a member of the concierge staff who was in a mini van to beep me like I was taking their park. The fact that no member of staff offered to assist with bags either from the car or to out room only added to my sense of annoyance.

We were upgraded to a larger room so very happy with that. Bed was two singles pushed together as a King bed. Bed was very comfortable but we both tried all 4 pillows and found them too soft. Location was very close to the Princess theatre which we were attending so that was great.

We were out of our room for 4-5 hours during the day and when we returned around 3pm found the room had not been serviced, even though we put the sign out. A bit disappointing. We asked at reception on our way out to dinner and it was serviced that night while we were out.

Exceptional staff and service. Good location and we loved the old grand styling. The decor in the foyer was stunning.

Our room was directly above the foyer and the foyer music could be heard in our room. As the hotel was full they could not change our room . As we were returning from the tennis after midnight the early music was awful. I had to buy ear plugs eventually as there was no other solution as they would not turn off the music. To be truthful I was disappointed as we are pensioners who save for this annual holiday and nothing was done.

The staff were excellent and very helpful, the location was excellent and the elegance and the old world charm was wonderful and unique.

The shower over the bath, the lack of towel rails in the bathroom and not enought bench space in the bathroom. I suggest adding a shelf in the bathroom for guests to place their personal items. I would have liked a better option for coffee like a plunger, more sugar, and have more milk available. Also, two towels each (one for drying hair) would have been useful. A comfortable couch in the Delux room would have been better than the two uncomfortable but beautiful chairs. Also, placing the TV along the wall at the end of the bed would have suited us better. Suggest that modern tap mixers in the basins and shower would have improved our experience.
