The Hotel Windsor is a lovely and famous old building with a gracious atmosphere in a wonderful location opposite the Parliament building. There are many cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance. The room was large and well-equipped. The staff were attentive and met a few small extra requests. We appreciated that they provided a bowl of fruit as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary.

It's sad to say that the rooms and hallways are pretty tired. I can't imagine how much it would cost to renovate this famous old hotel but it does feel like it's time. The heater in our room was pretty noisy. That said we would definitely stay again.

Room was good although the view was inward looking at the central roof well. Room was not small, but the corridors and lobbies on each floor were huge, being a turn of the century style hotel. Loved the history of the hotel. Location was great - we booked a show at the Pricess Theatre, great pubs, and great shopping. Bed was very comfortable Breakfast was good but not exceptional - limited selection . We are more used to buffet style breakfasts.

We really liked everything. Perhaps the breakfast was a little short. The breakfast room looked like what one would expect to see in the Titanic ship.

The breakfast is next level. The quality, service and elegant dining room are enough to make me stay again! Hotel has an intimate feel and great place to stay alone or as a couple. Close proximity to Princess Theatre and so many restaurants in Flinders Lane. Also the handy umbrella and clothes brush in wardrobe.

It would be good if reception let guests know at check in time , that rooms are serviced between 12pm and 4pm. I understand reasons for the timetable but was not aware. The wooden headboard needed refurbishing. Think the bathrobes need replacement.

The Windsor is truly special place that offers a glimpse into a more opulent time. The hotel is rich with history, from beautiful tessellated tile work on the stairs to captivating historical photos and artwork lining the walls. Our room was spacious, spotless, and extremely comfortable, with a stunning view of Parliament House and St Patrick’s Cathedral. Hearing the cathedral bells on Sunday morning added a charming, old-world touch. The room was well-appointed, with comfortable seating perfect for enjoying a quiet drink. We also appreciated the hotel’s eco-friendly approach to toiletries and the luxurious feel of the fluffy towels and provided robes. The temperature was just right — never too hot or cold. The location couldn’t be better — close to the theatre district, cafés, trams, and Parliament Station. We thoroughly enjoyed high tea and a delicious breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant, One Eleven. What really stood out was the exceptional service. Every staff member we interacted with was warm, professional, and genuinely helpful, making us feel truly welcomed and looked after. Highly recommended for those who appreciate history, comfort, and outstanding hospitality.

The bathroom was disappointing and in need of a refresh to bring it up to the same standard as the rest of the room. The taps and tiles looked worn and dated. The shower is positioned over the bath, which could be difficult for guests with mobility issues. The pillows looked plush but weren’t very comfortable to sleep on. The hotel does offer a pillow menu, which I wish I had taken advantage of.

It was quiet - no external noise. Location worked for us as the hotel is close to eateries in Bourke and Little Collins streets. The entrance/foyer area was spacious and welcoming - terrific area for meeting friends and relatively quiet with comfortable large chairs.

Didn't like the parking arrangement. The hotel should have an arrangement with 'First Parking' whereby guests can park and access their car for a 24hr set price. Also, reception should be able to issue a number that can be punched into the car park's access machine - this is a service provided by other hotels around Australia. Two pillows per person are needed for the bed. There were no extra pillows in the room. It was too cold in the ensuite as the fan automatically comes on with the light - this needs attention. The Cricketer Arms is too noisy as an eating venue - would have enjoyed eating in the hotel in a more ambient atmosphere. It was cold and wet and windy during the evening and walking to an eatery was not pleasant.

Wow what a beautiful hotel the Windsor is. The grandeur of the hotel and the room, the service was outstanding. The rooms were so lovely and clean it was just a lovely little getaway. And the breakfast was definitely a highlight. Even upon check in getting a free drink voucher. The little things were so lovely. Not that i minded but people that stay at the hotel would need to be aware that you do hear people walking around in the rooms above.

I had a stunning room, that looked out over the steps of Parliament however the windows were quite dirty/grimy and I couldn't' even take a photo out the window of the beautiful hot air balloons going over on Sunday morning.

Old world charm and sophistication, red carpets and doormen. Really comfortable beds and linen, bathrobes. Gorgeous high windows that let in lots of light, views of government house and gardens across the street. Lovely service, and the personal touches to celebrate a birthday including a card, champagne and cake were a delightful surprise. A few steps to explore beautiful gardens, or enjoy great dining. Easy tram or walk to just about anywhere.

As an older building, walls and floors a little thin so other guest movements were audible. Was not disruptive for our stay, but those wishing for privacy or sound proof space should consider.

Two adults with 3 kids city staycay for one night. I love the old charm of The hotel Windsor, the kids thought it was really fancy and fun. It's a great location walking distance to the museum. The food that was included in the breakfast was amazing. You could choose what you want from the breakfast menu + a pastry + juice + coffee/tea which was a great offer. Some examples from the breakfast menu included things like avo on toast, Turkish omelette and 'the lot' and they accommodated wonderfully to the kids requests.

It's quite noisy hearing cars and what's going on in the streets. While it has its beautiful old charm, it needs a bit of a refurbish, the bathroom tub had cracks etc. But for one night stay we couldn't really complain for the pricing and location!

We very much enjoyed our stay at The Windsor. The location is one of the best in Melbourne, especially considering the easy access to the MCG and Rad Laver Arena precinct. This was a major positive for us, as events at these locations were the focus of our one night stay. We had a Victoria Suite, which are very nice large rooms (two bedrooms).

It was a novelty to stay in such a historic building, a very unique experience. But, at the same time, it did feel like the hotel is dated in some aspects, like fittings in the hotel room itself. For instance, the bathroom is not very modern and the TV was very small and did not work well. Also, the heaters throughout the rooms were also not working too well during our stay. We were in a Victoria Suite, and honestly we expected a little better for the price you pay for the larger room.

A stay at this grande dame of Melbourne makes for a nostalgic experience and a sense of being a part of a fading history when elegance and decorum were taken for granted. Everything you love about spacious rooms ! The breakfast is a treat and the location ticks all the boxes .

Plumbing (mixer and hot water ) was temperamental at times. I would have liked to see a commitment to reducing carbon footprint with recycling bins and only laundering towels if required
