The hotel is very near Parliament station, but can be quite quiet at night. Even then, it is a nice, easy walk from Melbourne Central station (~15 minutes) through Chinatown. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed the lounge area. The room was also pretty clean and comfortable.

There was a weird, pretty strong smell that came from the toilet (kind of like urine) that didn't go away even if we flushed, but you couldn't smell it from the living area. I expected a small stove, but there was none (this was an oversight on my part). The kettle was a little rusty too.

The hotel is close to public transport, many eating places, shops and theatres. It is easy to walk to most central city areas. Our accommodation looked out onto the street but was not noisy. One morning we were delighted to watch two hot air balloons floating across the sky. There is only one lift, which can be busy at times. The staff were excellent, especially the young lady who took care of us when we arrived (we were so tired we didn't think to ask her name) and Russell who looked after us when we left.

The bathroom. The hand basin was very small, not big enough for washing anything bigger than hands. The shower was over the bath but, unfortunately, the bath had high steep sides. There were hand holds but it was very difficult to get into the bath for older people. The toilet paper was so thin it could truly be called toilet tissue!

My second time staying here, 6 years apart. Such a fantastic location if you're heading to a theatre show. Completely walkable but also super close to the free tram. Room was spacious with great amenities including toaster and microwave, and I received a free upgrade from queen to king which such a lovely surprise! Every staff member I saw were super friendly and helpful too, going out of their way to assist me and make my stay in Melb comfortable.

There was a bit of mould on the bottom of the shower curtain and the room smelled a little dusty but other than that no issues with cleanliness. The shower did spill a fair bit of water onto the bathroom floor when in use but easily mopped up with the bathmat and dried quickly with the fan on.

This was a pretty great stay, location's a little tucked away but no means inaccessible. The street is still quite busy with a range of F&B places. The hotel has a retro no frills vibe but doesn't come across as kitschy at all. Everything is generally comfortable and the complimentary hot drinks available is a nice plus before heading out for the day. Staff was also friendly and wifi was pretty strong.

The only area of improvement for me would be the room service. I requested for the room to be cleaned just the one time. It was a decent basic cleaning job done and something small might have broken in the process and was left behind. A small matter.

Complimentary coffee/tea/hot chocolate and jelly beans in the reception area was great. The bed was comfortable, as were the pillows. Fluffy towels, nice feeling body wash and lotion. After reading the reviews I was anticipating a nice property but it exceeded my expectations. The room was quiet and barely heard any outside noise. Within very short walking distance to both the tram stop and train station. Also very close to a supermarket on the next street, convenience stores, cafes and restaurants. There were also windows to be able to opened to get fresh air instead of the air conditioner.

Nothing! It was a great stay for a couple.

Large room, good location, good value,excellent staff.

Noise, internal and external. Could hear toilets flushing, people chatting from adjoining rooms. Deliveries and refuse collection start very early in the vicinity. Despite the nice photos on the booking.com site, rooms seemed a bit dated and tired despite some apparent work The bathroom was a bit small.

Location, location, location! We had a full on heavy weekend of theatre shows and City LImits was a short walking distant to everything. It was great to be able to go back to the room in between shows and relax. The room was spacious, well equipped, clean and warm. Beds and pillows super comfy. It was also a quiet a street so we got a good nights sleep. There was a proper coffee machine downstairs if you wanted a cappucino. The staff were friendly, helpful. Lots of good restaurants close by and the shopping hub also a short walk. This place is a gem!

The manager is so welcoming its fantastic friendly place, close to the theatre district and close to China Town They have complementary coffee while your waiting to check-in or if you have work to do as well as a sit down area Highly recommend Shark Finn restaurant that is only a couple doors down, beautiful food and wonderful staff.

We had left over food in our fridge and the heating unit hadn’t seen a vacuum for quite some time which could have been a fire hazard, but once I reported it to the friendly manager on duty he got onto it straight away and had the heater cleaned.

The staff are very helpful and welcoming. I had booked 2 rooms and check in on different dates. We requested both rooms be close to each other. We understand that such request is not easy to entertain but the hotel not only arranged both rooms on the same floor but just next to one another. The room is spacious with simple kitchen facilities. Bed and pillow are comfortable. The hotel is situated very close to China Town so a great variety of restaurants are just downstairs. The hotel is within free tram zone and tram station is only within 5 minutes’ walk.

There were a number of bars around the hotel and our stay covered the Black Friday. A bit of noise was heard on that night which affected our sleep. However, it was quite quiet on the other dates.

Great location, easy to access everywhere we wanted to visit in the city via tram / walking. Room was very clean and comfortable with the added extra of a tv with streaming channels for rainy evenings. Very helpful and friendly staff on the desk. Free coffee available in the reception area! Would definitely recommend!

The only improvement we would suggest would be potentially adding a small stovetop to the kitchen area as the meals you can make are limited by there only being a microwave/toaster. Other than that, everything was perfect :)
