Right next to the last free tram stop. Kitchen looked a bit small but I had no problems cooking. I was kindly put in a female 6 bed dorm when I had booked a 12 mixed bed so this was greatly appreciated. I also liked that they had desk space for working with comfortable chairs and plugs

No alcohol allowed, have to give any in at reception to store. Being on the 3rd floor with no lift. I also wasn't too keen on mixed gender showers, maybe if the doors were higher

The property is located in the city center, accessible by public transport (can be reached by tram within the free-zone) and is close to major tourist attractions, like the State Library, Melbourne Museum, and parks. The rooms are cleaned every day, and the shower rooms are spacious. The kitchen is big, and you can store your food items in the multiple fridges provided. There's also plenty of free items left by guests, so you can check out that fridge. There is a washroom with two washers and two dryers (5 AUD to use each, I think); detergent and fabric softener are provided for free.

Since the building is quite historic/old, the floors are made of wood, making it impossible not to make a squeaky noise when walking. The bunkbeds aren't very sturdy, so you could feel even a slight movement of the other occupant. Towels and padlocks for the lockers are available for rent for 5 AUD; you may want to bring your own.

Everything was good and my check in staff member Esra was great. All the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the location as it was nice and quiet and close enough walk to everything, including transit. I think I saw one or two reviews complain that the hostel didn’t have enough things to do as far as social nights or what have you. That building (beautiful by itself) was not built to be a hostel and there’s not much room for those kinds of events based on that alone. Not a complaint whatsoever, just my observation.

There was a bit of trash under my bed which, to whoever put it there, is rude. There are trash cans in the rooms so needn’t a future guest worry. All in all everything was clean. I had trouble connecting to the Wi-Fi on a few occasions but it could have been my phone.

Historic building that my great grandmother trained in to become a Salvation Army officer late 1890s. Trams nearby. Lovely gardens close by. Thank you for clearing out space in fridges/shelves by regular discarding items of vacated guests. This is seldom done in other hostels. Great staff, best I've met past 2mths travelling WA & Vic. Great lounge with Netflix. Appreciate the no alcohol regulation; keeps the place clean, safe, quiet, & friendly . Thanks for allowing a 60yo single female stay!

No grocery store close by.....maybe you could have some long life milk available for sale? Only one toilet on ground floor....

The location is perfect for visitors! There are free tram stops at the corner, easy access to a range of large grocery stores by either walking or taking the trams, and it's right next to the CBD so it's a quick tram ride or walk to many tourist sites and restaurants. The kitchen is incredibly well equipped with lots of complimentary spices and free leftover ingredients. The building has tall ceilings, good ventilation in the rooms and the shared facilities (kitchen, bathrooms, dining space) are well sized so that you never feel cramped or have to queue. Everything is fairly clean and well organized with labelled bags and boxes for guests to store their dry and refrigerated foods. I stayed for 9 days and would have been comfortable staying longer. Everyone is super friendly and respectful - highly recommend!

The internet can be a bit spotty and slow, particularly if you're on an upper floor. The bunk bed curtains are way too short to provide any privacy so most guests have to hang up clothes/towels to supplement them. You need to bring your own lock for the lockers in the dorm room. Because the building is on a main road across from a hospital, there are lots of loud traffic and regular sirens at night.

I stayed here for 3 weeks and it was my best hostel experience. I made a lot of friends here. The facility is well-maintained (relative to other hostels) and they have a few events. Best location— so close to the city yet also close to some scenic Melbourne gems.

Wifi is very finicky… Not great for someone wanting to safe on data or requiring strong internet. A little noisy from traffic outside, easy solution is earplugs which are provided. The upper showers are also sometimes cold so pick a good time. These downsides were bearable due to the superb location and service.

Great location Nice TV room

We had some issues with our flights so had to book another hotel for one night, but they said they would check us in from 8am the next day. We arrived at 8.18am and had to wait outside for one of the other hostel guests to let us in. Then we had to wait another 15 minutes inside for anyone to show up and check us in, despite me messaging them on booking .com as soon as we’d arrived. Wi-fi didn’t work on ground floor room The beds were extremely squeaky, so it would wake you up when people moved during the night

Everything was always very clean, the kitchen was very well equipped, beds were comfy and location was very convenient. Staff were also so lovely and welcoming.

No major issues. On hot days it was a bit warm as they didn't have A/C but most nights still okay and fan was good. Top bunks were a little hard to get down from but this is the case with most hostels. The individual lamps in each bed were a little too bright, especially on the top bunk they lit up the whole room.

Location and cleanliness were excellent. Communication with the hostel was straightforward and they worked to accommodate my initial late check-in. It’s not a party palace - which is why I booked it.

The bunks are wobbly and squeal terribly with any sort of movement. For some reason they’re not bolted to the walls. It’s cold in winter and, to judge by the lack of air conditioning, stuffy in summer. Receptionist at check-in was a bit peculiar, though I can’t fault his efficiency.

Great location, easy access with the tram and still within free tram zone. Friendly staff. Well-thought, well-organised, clean facilities. The bunk bed’s mattress was comfy, actually felt more comfy than the private room’s although the bunk bed was wobbly. Privacy curtains, pouches, and individual lamp at the bunk bed were cute and thoughtful.

Stairs were the killer, especially with the room upgrade. I had to carry my luggage to the third floor, brought it down to reception the next day for room changing and came back up to the third floor. Bathroom wasn’t in convenient distance, mixed bathroom was all the way across the hall. The female bathroom was on the second floor. The bunk bed was wobbly.
