We had a truly nice stay at this hotel. Location was amazing, this neighborhood is where you will end up having all your good meals, coffee, shopping etc but then also very close walk to true city center, museums. Staff was very professional, breakfast is indulgent, afternoon tea was serene The rooms are very special and well-cared for, it felt like a truly unique boutique hotel experience. I am an insanely light sleeper and did end up relocating to a top floor room to avoid upstairs neighbors, as it's an old building with creaking bones, which led to having a huge suite at a high cost BUT this was clear and known to me, so it worked out well in the end.

nothing, this is a special hotel!

Great hotel overall, really beautiful design and cool rooms. The staff was exceptionally kind and welcoming - I really appreciated all the recommendations and allowing me to shower before my flight (even after checkout). Breakfast was lovely, good selection and appreciated the warm choice of eggs and delicious coffee. The neighbourhood is super cool, quiet but also lots of bars, cafes and antique stores and it's 15-20 minute walk to the city center. I really appreciated having such good quality yoga mat in the room - doing some stretching after a long flight was very much appreciated.

Wifi in the room was quite slow, which was a bit of an issue for me, as I had to work. Bed was really not comfortable unfortunately.

If you are looking for a unique stay this place is excellent! The decor is fun and the hallways are reminiscent of strolling through an art gallery. We loved having breakfast (which was included) in the stylish and light filled salon every morning. As a vegan/vegetarian couple we usually avoid hotel breakfasts but we were pleasantly surprised to find plenty of options for us. With all the different styled rooms, we ended up with a pretty basic looking blue room but the bathroom was bright and fun, bed was comfy. We walked through a Claret red Baroque Decor hallway on the way to our room, we would love to stay in one of those rooms if we have the opportunity to return.

Not a big deal but there wasn't a Metro stop super close. Vienna's transportation system seems somewhat complicated and we only had a couple days so might have missed a nearby bus or tram line that would have worked too. Either way, the hotel is in a cool neighborhood with restaurants and Museums nearby but we walked a lot (which was fine, we were getting our steps in!). It looks like they might be adding a new line around there...

This is a superb choice for staying in Vienna. Usually I like to change and stay in different hotels, but not for Small Luxury Hotel Altstadt. This time I stayed only for 2 nights and it was a real pleasure as always. The staff was so kind to upgrade our room free of charge. A very warm welcome with an offer of refreshement and water, pastries and biscuits. The room was very nice decorated with a clever artistic style. In general all the hotel has this style, with nice paintings and colours. Also you can walk through the corridors and by using a Qrcode outside of the rooms you can enjoy the paintings that exist in the rooms! The bed was big enough, with comfortable pillows. An espresso machine (free of charge), the water is drinkable (Vienna has a very clean tap water), good WiFi. Enough room to hang your coats and clothes, a nice small sofa to put your shoes on. I think that the bathroom is the strong tip. Spacious, with very soft robes and towels, very big shower-bath with no change to have a drop of water outside. But the floor surface is so warm and pleasant to walk without slippers (they provide also 2 pairs of slippers). So refreshing this in the winter time in Vienna. Every day from 16.00 to 18.00 there is a free offer of cakes, tea, pastries, etc. in the very cosy sallon place, with big armchairs and sofas, while somebody is playing classical music on the piano. A big variety of books in luxurious editions are around. The breakfast is excellent, with many local products, also big choice for free gluten products, a varitey of teas and coffees (with no extra charge for cappuchino, cold chocolate and all). The staff is very kind and helpful, asking you about how do you want your eggs to be prepared and accompanied with. The place is very central, 3-4 min to Leopold Museum and Mumok and 1-2 more to go to the Albertina (classical) and National History Museum. A bus stop is just outside the hotel (13 A), also 48A in some seconds. and less than 5min for metro

Breakfast is outstanding, varied and delicious. It is better to avoid 9-10 am when it gets extremely crowded and difficult to find a table. The first day, we ended up with a small table for 3. This was fixed by coming at 8 am the next day. The location is excellent.

In some sense, Altstadt falls short of being a real hotel. You are often left on your own. We travel with a wheelchair, a pet and quite a bit of luggage and we were not offered any help unloading the car and/or getting to our room. We had to fetch the luggage cart, take everything up ourselves through doors that are not really accessible. Similarly, while very pleasant, the terrace was definitely not the "relaxing oasis" advertised: the beer was tepid and the terrace populated by entitled couples with loud, free-roaming kids.

The breakfast was very good with ecological and regional products; the bread was fresh and tasty. The tea time with cake was also nice. The Saskia Suite had plenty of space for 3 person and was nicely decorated. The whole hotel has a casual/modern art gallery character. The beds were very comfortable and it was a nice detail to find always fresh apples in our coffee table. I got a nice card and a chocolate from the staff on my birthday. The Salon is also quite cozy, specially in the evening when you can sit to read and have a cocktail listening to soft jazz music. Distance to the museum quartier was excellent!

The walls to the suite next door where a bit too thin; we could hear our neighbours until late during the night or the elevator going up and down, also noise from the street (ambulances, police cars, church bells, ...) was audible. The water in the shower took an eternity to get warm and then got luke warm. It was not possible to connect mobile devices to the tv screen (USB and Bluetooth where disabled) and the reception said it simply was not possible to connect devices to the screen. This was a big dissapointment specially for our teenager.

This hotel has a character itself. A very pleasant scent welcomes you when the hotel door's opened. The artworks and style of decorations at the lobby and BF room make me feel lively. Breakfast is something special, both the taste and the looks. Staff are very helpful and nice.

Each room has its own style. The room's decor I stayed a bit quirky, which is not match my preference. So better ask for the style of the room you like before check-in. There's something not functional in our room, such as the outlets under the night tables, every time you have to use it you have to drag the table off the wall or kneel down on the floor. We have TV and Marshall speaker in our room, but we cannot turn-on both.

This place was very special to us. It was a feel like home experience. Colorful decoration, the saloon with piano play on Saturday, tea time every afternoon and super friendly caring staff. And a new day could not start with a more enjoyable breakfast ! A safe and outstanding place to be. For a next return to Vienna we will choose this hotel again for sure.

Nothing, just nothing.
