The hotel is 25 minutes away from the airport. This is one subway train away (around 8 stops)and cost under £1 for the journey! The stop is Opalchenska. The hotel itself is modern,yet quirky. Interesting art work and well decorated. The staff are extremely helpful. We had assistance from Mila,who was so lovely. She perfect in her role. Very friendly,yet professional. The young, handsome guy that was also on reception was equally helpful and considerate. The breakfast was plentiful and offered a lot of choice. We also went to the restaurant,which was actually very fancy.

The lifts take a little getting used to and the tv channels didn't offer obvious English speaking programmes. Be aware that the swimming pool is not free! You pay 20 levs per person,and you need to buy a swimming cap for 6 levs.

Beautiful huge apartment with a fabulous design and decors. Excellent wifi and an exeptionally good and varied breakfast, Guarded parking for a reasonable price. Full honour to the manager that did our checkin in a professional, respectable and very kind way. The hotel has a fantastic art collection displayed in all rooms and public areas. Soundisolated rooms.

When checking out we experienced the highly negative fact that the employee called for a check of the room to see if anything is taken from the minibar or other similars before even starting with our checkout procedure. This is not worthy of a 5star hotel. We confirmed ourselves that we had NOT taken anything from the minibar before being asked about it. This procedure has to stop as it show distrust to guests and clients.

Good sized rooms, excellent breakfast, room very clean with good facilities. Beautiful artwork throughout the hotel. Close to subway and city centre. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately since our last visit the spa is no longer included in the price which was very disappointing. The lobby bar was never open when we tried to use it, drinks had to ve ordered by going to restaurant 5 floors up!

Enjoyed our breakfast everyday, especially the fruits I love Pineapple and very good choices of fruits and others like fried eggs.Also we had nice dinner at the restaurant.Location was great would be helpful it they give you an idea however being explorer we found the little town local shops and at the very end we found places to eat like Happy and Grill, some Ancient Ruins under the Metro and Vitosha Boulevard.Room was very spacious and clean and Tidy.We had good experience in checking in at the time of our arrival was Sunday around 1400PM one of the staff Mr.Iva help us with our stuff and assisted us to find our Room like a maze.

We have stayed at Hotel Anel previously and I was keen to return. By far the best thing about this hotel is the size and cleanliness of the rooms. The rooms are extremely large, comfortable, spotlessly clean and contain everything you would want, including jacuzzi baths, radios, the biggest bed you’ll ever sleep in, and blackout curtains. If you are lucky you’ll get a large balcony overlooking the front street. The pool is nice and although we didn’t use it the gym looks well equipped. The hotel is extremely well located a few minute walk from the center of Sofia.

There are extra charges for almost everything - sauna, steam room, breakfast, parking. For a 5-star hotel I’d have hoped for everything to be included in the price. As a result, we didn’t use the facilities in the spa nor did we have breakfast as we felt we had paid a reasonable price for the room and so felt it should’ve been included. I also went for a swim and around 6 small children came for a swimming class. Nothing against that, but would’ve been nice to know so I could’ve planned to swim at a quieter time as it wasn’t possible with kids learning in the same pool which isn’t huge.

Clean, decent room size, guy at the reception desk was quite kind and helpful

I wanted to use the pool, female receptionist said it is a bit late (although it was 20:20h and the pool is open till 21h). I went there and after a few minutes a woman (not a lady) appeared and was very rude to me, saying it is too late, I have no right to use the pool and that I should pay extra (which I would, but pool was included in the room price). So, I have spent 15 mins at the pool, left almost immediately, didnt want to enter the argument further, it was a long day and didnt want to loose more precious time, although I had every right to be there, would have left before 21h for sure.

I have booked the business class room so it was very big and really nice. The breakfast was amazing. The locación also very near the center. The hotel has very beautiful decoration with statues and gallery ,also with restaurant, bar and casino inside.

That the spa was not included in the price and all the extra was with charge. Extra charge for the swimming pool, extra charge for the sauna, extra charge for the gym,extra charge for the jacuzzi. Also , they offer you a bottle of water free and only 1 coffee free and usually in 5 stars hotel water is free.

The room , a business one, was enormous and very comfortable. The bathroom looked dated with lots of marble but had a very deep bath and a pretty good shower. There was a tv with some English channels and a kettle . The mini bar was well stocked but as normal the items were relatively highly priced and we did not use it. Tea was replenished but not the pods for the coffee machine. We did have some problems with heat control and at times the room became very hot. Breakfast was outstanding though staffing seemed to be an issue. On the first day when we were the only people dining 3 people were supervising the 1 waitress. On the last day when the room was packed the waitress was on her own with no help. That also meant she felt to address the rather peculiar issue of a guest whoo thought it was ok to come down in his pajamas! Foodwise there was a reasonable hot selection ,lots of cold meats and smoked fish with the largest variety of cheeses I have ever seen in a restaurant. There was also a wide variety of cakes, breads, fresh and dried fruit as well a cereals and yogurts. The bar was reasonably priced but had a sign on it saying it was closed even when it was open. The location was fine. A short walk to the centre and a couple of minutes to the metro. In all it was brilliant value for money.

Cleaning was adequate but not surprisingly considering the size of the room it was a bit dusty . It was also obvious that the settee had not been moved for a very long time. It was pretty grim underneath it.

The pool and the location - the bed and pillows were also very comfortable and it was quiet

A breakfast staff member refused to allow me to get me a breakfast box to take when I had to go on an early tour despite reception requesting it 3 times! Straight out refused !! Said breakfast was at 7 am would not allow anything before, bit when I went up after she had wasted 15 minutes of my time almost making me late for my tour she allowed a couple to go into breakfast at 6.53 am - I was very angry and disappointed with this behaviour

Based on recent reviews, I was sceptical about choosing Hotel Anel, but when we arrived at the location, we found a parking spot and checked into an apartment, which was very beautiful, very spacious, and at an excellent price for a European capital. The room had high-quality towels, bathrobes, and slippers—everything you would expect from a 5-star hotel. The pool was free, and we enjoyed a relaxing time there. (The swimming cap is mandatory and was not free; it cost 10 leva.) The breakfast was diverse and plentiful, offering a wide selection of options—fruits, meat, cheese, vegetables, etc. One evening, we dined at the hotel’s restaurant, and the food was delicious. We felt like we were on the Orient Express due to the elongated shape of the restaurant and its old-world aristocratic charm. The waiter was helpful and served us with warmth and pleasure.

The sauna was available for an additional charge. The parking costs 15 euros per night. We had coffee capsules in the room only on the first day, but not on the second day. This is not a major inconvenience because coffee is available at breakfast.
