I loved that the hotel was located in a quiet part of the historic town, yet just a few minutes' walk from the busier, touristy areas with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The staff were amazing: friendly, professional, and incredibly helpful. It’s truly a guest-focused hotel. The historic building has been beautifully renovated, with open-air spaces, a stunning rooftop, and a relaxing pool. Access to the rooftop pool and pool bar is reserved exclusively for guests, which made it feel even more special. Our room was spacious, luxurious, and very quiet. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and there were also à la carte options available.

Our stay at Bastion was absolutely incredible. From the moment we walked in, we were instantly in a calm, luxurious environment. The staff gave us a welcome drink and a cold towel to enjoy while we waited to be checked in, which made us instantly feel at home and relaxed. Our room was fabulous. The staff did turn down service every night and placed a sprig of lavender on our pillow and left us with little sweets in our room. The shower was huge and amazing. We loved the other spaces in the hotel like the beautiful rooftop, where we enjoyed the pool and saw gorgeous sunsets. The staff was INCREDIBLE! Every person we interacted with was kind, helpful, and went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. The breakfast was also so so so good and was included in our stay. We got to sit in the courtyard every morning and had made to order lattes and other dishes, in addition to the buffet. We got massages, which were lovely. The location is perfect and we had a 5-10 minute walk to everything we wanted to see. Cartagena is magical and Bastion made our trip one we will never forget. If you are thinking about booking at Bastion... DO IT!! You will not be disappointed.

It was somewhat hard to get the perfect temperature in the shower that wasn't too hot. However, the shower was beautiful, so we didn't mind!

In the heart of Old Town Cartagena; Bastión Luxury Hotel meet all our needs and much more. The staff were incredible and provided us with everything we asked for. They were so accommodating and wanted all of us (even my three year old daughter) to have a fantastic time; which as parents we cherished a great deal. Room: Our room was very large and spacious. Facilities: Having access to the pool was great. We went in February and it was was very very hot during our stay, so having access to a pool was a very welcome change to the hot and humid environment when we were exploring the city.

It was well-maintained, clean, and offered a stunning view of Cartagena's historic district. The lounge chairs were comfortable, and the poolside service was impeccable. Whether you wanted to take a refreshing dip or simply relax with a cocktail in hand, the pool area provided the perfect setting. Location The location of the Bastion Luxury Hotel is one of its strongest suits. Nestled in the historic district, it's within walking distance of major attractions like the Clock Tower and San Felipe Castle. The area is bustling with charming cafes, artisan shops, and vibrant street life, giving you a real sense of Cartagena's rich culture. Despite its central location, the hotel offers a tranquil retreat from the city's hustle and bustle. Overall, my stay at the Bastion Luxury Hotel was a memorable experience. The attention to detail in every aspect, from the sumptuous breakfast to the luxurious pool and prime location, made it a standout choice for anyone looking to experience the best of Cartagena. I would highly recommend it to travelers seeking both comfort and convenience.

My room was dark, but thats because it was located in the basement level so we had no sunlight. Next time, I will make sure to ask for a room on the main level or upper levels.

The Bastion is located in the heart of the Historic Center, making it a perfect location for tourism. You can stroll easily around the city, and hit basically every major site within a 15 minute walk radius. The Muelle (where you catch boats to the islands) it literally a 10 minute walk away. The rooftop at the Bastion is amazing! The staff at the pool/roof are the friendliest, most professional bunch imaginable. Jorge (who leads up the staff on the rooftop) is a super nice person, with great tips on the city. We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights, and ended every afternoon with drinks by the pool. By day 2, Jorge knew our name, knew our drink order and was super attentive while also being very relaxed. The breakfast is also very robust - fresh fruit, tasty warm food, wonderful coffee.

The hotel is very beautiful but a bit long in the tooth. They have a bit of a humidity issue in the rooms, with your clothes always feeling a bit damp. We were on the first floor, and while the room is very large (high ceilings, attentive housekeeping, comfy bed), the room was not well lit. They need to update the rooms, to deal with the humidity and general lack of light.

6th stay in this incredible hotel and as always, it didn’t disappoint. Huge shoutout to Jorge who takes brilliant care of the guests and is super attentive, thank you for everything! The beds are soooo comfy and cosy, the hotel is beautiful and spotless. Best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had, there is a wide choice of buffet and a la carte, buffet is incredibly fresh and offers some unique options. Super tasty. The pool is just perfect and surrounded by the comfiest sun loungers. Location is brilliant right in the old town and close to some especially pretty streets. I’ve taken five different friends here over the years and they’ve all loved it.

There is literally nothing not to like.

The stay was extremely pleasant, the staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The Room was kept very clean and housekeeping was immaculate. Jorge was brilliant, so friendly and helpful. The pool and rooftop were amazing and helped deal with the heat to cool down

Relatively minor issues - In the bathroom area particularly the toilet room there was a leak from the ceiling which passed down the wall and created a large puddle in the walkway between bathroom and bed, this was highlighted and dried but returned each morning resulting in unexpected wet feet. Airport transfer cost was high in comparison to others arrival was 108.00cop. When we returned to airport we paid 30.000cop from the same vicinity and the traffic was busier leaving.

The room, the small touches, the excellent service and the location. Jeorje was a hero as he effortlessly made us all feel welcome with his kind smile and calm demeanor. We were a bunch of friends and family gathered for a wedding so I'm sure we were noisier and more chaotic than your average guests but the team at bastion handled us all with grace.

I find it weird that the windows face the courtyard only but I think that's the local architecture/safety feature. So really, nothing!

Fabulous boutique hotel in historic old town of Cartagena. Couldn’t ask for any better…. Lovely rooms, good restaurant. Fantastic staff especially Jordhan who’s the best concierge I’ve met. I’d previously stayed at the Santa Clara which is also really lovely but I’d stay here again without hesitation.

The gym was a bit dismal. But not a big deal as we did plenty of walking

Everything about the hotel is amazing… The pool is fairly private. The rooms are aesthetically pleasing. The service and the staff are the highest quality. The amenities and the view you have going through the hotel is superb.

Knocking on the door. Every morning at 9 AM… The doors knocked on unless you have the do not disturb sign on. Then random gifts show up at your door and then I’ve got it again. It’s normally wouldn’t be a problem because I’m not normally in the hotel. But… I was on my honeymoon, and I can’t tell you the interesting moments those Knocks interrupted. 😳
