This hotel is gorgeous. It is also good value for Cartagena. The location of this hotel was fantastic. A quick walk to everything we wanted to see and do. The breakfast was very nice. The courtyard inside the hotel is so charming. The rooms are well appointed and beautiful. Even though it is in a very busy touristy area, the way they have the rooms set back from the street means there is no noise at night. Staff were very helpful. We booked a couples massage which took place at their sister property a couple of doors down - Casona del Colegio. The massage was great value and it was sooo relaxing. We also used the rooftop pool a couple of times at that hotel as it is bigger.

The pool at Porvenir is tiny. It’s perfect for a little dip with your partner, but I think even 4 people would feel like too many! Cartagena is very very hot, so air Conditioning is a must. Our room was always a great temperature but it would be nice if there was more common space in the hotel that is air conditioned. But overall we loved our stay!

Casona del Porvenir was a welcome retreat from the busy hustle and bustle of the old city of Cartagena. The restaurant and lobby area are filled with plants, natural light in parts and relaxing areas to visit or dine. Our room was beautiful and had everything we needed. It was not a big room, but it was decorated in soothing colors and very comfortable to retreat to at the end of the day. The bathroom had lots of amenities which was a welcome surprise. Breakfast we delicious and beautifully presented. Although we didn't take advantage of this, it was an added bonus that we could choose to dine there, or go to their sister hotel for a more traditional Colombian breakfast. When we had a very early flight, the hotel kindly sent us off with coffee and a light "to-go" breakfast which exceeded our expectations!

A bit more room in the room itself to hang clothes would be helpful for longer stays. The pool is very small and so not particularly conducive to exercise or relaxing, although there is so much to do in Cartagena that wasn't a problem!

This hotel is incredibly well-designed. It's amazing how peaceful it is once you enter given how bustling the streets are outside given the centralized location which is also amazing. The staff was incredibly personal and helpful. You get to choose your welcome cocktail from the entire bar menu. The pool is small and serene but not overcrowded. The room was amazingly comfortable from the bed to the a/c to the lighting to the modern shower and toilets. Just wow!

I was shocked there weren't more people staying there. For travelers looking to meet others it felt a bit difficult, but if that's of no concern then this place is a 10/10 smart choice!

Every single member of the staff has understood what hospitality is, which resonates in the experience they give you, from the moment you enter this hotel! Although the hotel is very clean, and details are arranged pretty charming and thoughtfully, the staff leveraged our experience on yet another level. Every single member is taking care of customers to a degree that you may only find in what was called 'Grand Hotel'. Both, the breakfast and the bar provide a well elaborated and aligned experience and made this place a more than dignified closing of our Columbia-vacation, exceeding our expectaions!

Excellent, friendly staff. Great breakfast with different options, delicious cappuccino. Location with great lunch, dinner choices. One of most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. Small, cozy, feels more like a family stay.

The only thing for me is that no matter how many times you stay here ( this is my 5th or 6th time) you are treated the same. They are very strict with there 12pm check out, its probably necessary being a small hotel.American hotel chains offer perks for loyalty, but you won't see that here.

I have travelled all over the world using Booking.com, including many boutique-type hotels. It is rare that a hotel exceeds my expectations in every respect. This one did. This hotel is a relatively new, well-situated hotel in the heart of the old town, Cartagena. We asked for a quiet room, and received one. The only disadvantage with the room was that windows did not look out on anything and that they were sealed, but the room was relatively quiet in a very noisy city. To have a balcony room with openable windows means a lot of noise at night in Cartagena. We preferred to sleep! The room we had was equipped with a comfortable king-size bed, lots of room and a very good bathroom, complete with a large shower and a Japanese toilet (which is relatively rare in my experience). We initially had some difficulty with the TV, but staff rectified the problem quickly. The AC worked well and the room is equipped with a ceiling fan if one prefers to use it- we used both. The design of the hotel, including the finishes, demonstrates a well-thought out, professional team was involved. I was particularly impressed by the overall design of the common areas of the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. The pool on level 4 is small but adequate for cooling down in a hot city. The hotel offers massage services. The companion hotel (Hotel Boutique Casona del Colegio) is available for meals and has a larger pool; it is located only 150 metres away, which is very convenient. For the cost, this hotel is a very good choice, allowing one to walk all over the old town and neighboring areas. Assuming that the hotel maintains its service standards and keeps its facilities in good condition, this is a hotel that I recommend without reservation.

The room is tastefully decorated with style and has many nice features. Bathroom comes with japanese toilet and a nice shower. bathroom and room have some really nice wooden fans on the roof, but there is alsa an AC. Very nice patio with tropical plants. Once you enter the hotel, the noise, heat (and dirt) from the street is left behind. This is a place to relax and recharge your batteries. Staff is very nice, helpful and responsive, from check in to barmen and room service staff. You can choose the Breakfast from the menu, and it was really excellent. On check out day the hotel was preparing for a wedding so no late check out was possible, but they offered me to use the shower in the spa of a partner hotel only 20 m away (for free) which was really great. They provide free filtered water (in many other Colombian hotels you have to pay for the water). There is a small pool at the rooftop, enough to cool down in the tropical heat. There is a lot of electronics to manage the AC, curtain etc. This is OK, but might be a challenge for more senor people. Some guests didn't like that the rooms dont' have windows to the outside but only to the patio gallery. I didn't find that a problem, with that much sun and heat outside you get a cosy place to retreat in your room. But yeah, there is no "view". In the second floor they have a nicely decorated library. As of May 2024 there was a construction site in front of the hotel, they were digging up the road. Surprisingly you didn't notice that when inside the hotel.

Nothing serious. If I really have to bring up something than only a minor thing: There is a stool in the room without backrest, it would be great to have a stool with backrest.

New, modern and clean hotel. Located in the most centered part of the city, where everything is about a 5 to 15 minute walk. The free breakfast was good and it was nice having a bar in the hotel. I would definitely recommend staying here. You can’t beat the location.

Maybe I am an ignorant American, but the only could play I would have is that it was hard to communicate with the staff because they knew little English and I knew little Spanish. But we were able to communicate with Google translate.

The staff was awesome! They went out of their way to help us in every way. They were very fried fly and service oriented. The atmosphere is exactly what we hoped for...old colonial with modern day luxury and upgrades. The food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend Casona del Porvenir!!! You will not be disappointed. A very special thank you to Kathleen and Sofia for making our weeklong stay very satisfying and rewarding.

The property is in a great location next to the hot spots of El Centro. The property has a tranquil vibe and is a great place to get a good nights rest or just escape the hustle and bustle of Cartagena. There is a guard at the entry during the busiest hours ensuring that only guests and patrons are on the property. It’s very quiet for sleeping and the mini splits/AC keep the rooms nice and cool.The staff, especially René were very welcoming, polite and helpful. The breakfast which included a juice, a hot beverage, bread, fruit and an entree was also satisfactory.

I don’t have any complaints about the property.
