My wife and I are from Texas and spent 8 nights in this extremely nice and new highrise hotel in the heart of the best part of Medellin. The hotel is new, so nothing needs updating or looks dated. The rooms have big 75-ich LG TVs that we streamed from our Roku on, but if you don't bring a streaming device, you can log into Netflix on the TV. Great pool, beautiful location. Great breakfast. We met a great taxi driver that works the hotel, so I hired him for several days to drive us to Comuna 3, 13, Santo Domingo and the center. He walked with us and made me feels safe with a lot of expensive camera equipment on my person. He drove us to the famous colonial town of Sanr Fe de Antioquia (beautiful 90-minute drive) and the colonial town of Guatape (beautiful 2 hour drive) and the famous lake of Embalse de Guatape. We climbed the famous rock with 740 steps - Piedra del Penol. This hotel is the perfect base in the most beautiful part of Medellin to explore this incredible city. It is a 2-dollar (10,000 Pesos) quick taxi ride to the great restaurants of Bario Provenza.

We liked everything.

The breakfast buffet was very good. The room with the terrace was very nice, but the furniture was not comfortable. It looked beautiful and matched very well, but it was very stiff leather type of furniture and was NOT comfortable at all. The bed was extremely comfortable. It actually seemed like a California King, so the husband and I had plenty of space. The best part of our stay was the staff and room service. The staff went above and beyond to take care of our every need. There was a bellman named Miguel who was FABULOUS! He called us by name every day and helped us with all of our needs - even took me to the ATM machine and stood guard for me. Exceptionally nice young man. The room service had the best food that we have ever had in a hotel. The presentation was good, the food was hot and extremely high quality.

The leather type furniture in our sitting area, including the dining table chairs were not comfortable. When you book a suite, you expect comfort and quality furniture. It looked nice, but did not feel good.

The best thing about San Fernando Hotel was the breakfast, the waiters working the breakfast, the bed comfort and the location of the hotel.

The many issues my entire family had (5 rooms) during the check in and check out. The lack of courtesy and importance the manager on-site had with us. I had to request and demand that the front desk attendant have the manager come and talk to me rather than him sending me his messages through the attendant. There were no wash towels. For the category he hotel has, I expected better service. The wait at the restaurant to get water was 35-40 min. Then another 45 min to get my food. The food w@s delicious though. There was no courtesy water in the lobby, no in-house phone to be able to call up to a room without going up to the attendants. If they were busy the way was longer to make a phone call. A bit disappointing.

Not a great experience with the staff - i specifically paid and made a note that we needed 2 seperate beds. At reception I was told that this was not in my profile. They wanted my son who is over 6 ft to sleep on a cot they would bring to the room. After about 2 hours later they gave us a suite that we had to evacuate from the next morning. Which was a pain to unpack and repack. I understand that errors happen what I didn’t like was that I was gaslit to believe that I ordered one bed. Having to wait so long after a long flight late at night and exhausted did not add to my experience

Absolutely terrific property. Spotless everywhere in the building. I never had to wait for an elevator for more than ONE minute. The most important part about this property was the employees. They went far and beyond what they needed to do to make my stay so welcoming. The manager, Cesar, helped me with a personal matter that I’ll be profoundly grateful for. Sebastian and the night time front desk employee( his name escapes me) were outstanding as well. The restaurant staff treated me like a king each and every morning. Thank you Andreas, Julian sand Valentina! Also have to give a shout out to the maids, pool personal and bell hops! Great people! Just wonderful stay all around. Loved it so much I’ll be staying here for another 3 weeks!

The location was in a lovely area. Breakfast always had a fabulous selection. It is definitely worth mentioning that the waiters were Superb at all times! My room itself was very pleasing , BUT the shower stall was completely unacceptable because each day I showered it would flood ---due to very poor drainage! The situation wasn't addressed properly until two days later when I was moved to a different room on the same floor to be close to my friends, all of us who are in their 80"s. Room 1611 NEVER should've been assigned to me (or anyone else) because the Hotel had to know about this existing problem!

This has already been explained in the above; furthermore, EACH day we had to call the desk to fix the safe (caja fuerte) as it never functioned properly---neither in my room nor my friends room. These safes seem to be somewhat antiquated.

The comfort of the bed was amazing, and the hospitality is amazing. Second time staying at the hotel and will do it again

I wish they could have more choices of juices for breakfast other than orange juice every day. They could honestly have a variety of juices like pineapple juice, Maracuya juice etc. We were limited to same type of juice everyday, a hotel like that can surely do better. The bathroom toilet,after flushing the water kept running making that noise and one has to go back and turn the flush hinge to a certain direction for the stopper, i am sure that can be repaired it was a bit annoying but generally a very good hotel

Excellent hotel to chill and enjoy a bit of pampering for a couple of days after a hectic few weeks with family in the high Andes, which was also lovely but not, well, quite so comfortable. Good location in central Poblado just a short walk from the Oviedo shopping mall with very comprehensive shops restaurants and cinema

Nothing at all. it was all grand. A kettle in the room to brew a proper English cup of tea would have made it superb. But we survived without.

The Pool, the location (just opposite my office). Personnel is superfriendly, especially the lady in the gym and the housekeeping, plus the guys at the pool and the personnel at the breakfast.

Gym needs some renovation, rooms could be updated as well (USB ports do not work). Why is the poolbar closing so early?-would be nice to sit there in evening night and enjoy drinks with an illuminated pool in the background (I of course understand that the pool would be closed then, but bar could be kept open-as it is done in other hotels).

I have previously stayed at Dann Carlton in Medellin. I chose San Fernando plaza this time because the price was less. The facilities were not as nice as Dan Carlton. All incidentals at San Fernando, laundry, menu prices at the only restaurant, (Dann Carlton has three) were substantially higher. So there was no savings and it was not quite as nice as Dann Carlton .
