A really exceptional stay in Salzburg. The hotel is lovely and old, but with all the modern amenities in the room and bathroom so the feeling was quite luxurious. It’s located on a beautiful, historic little alleyway right in the old city center. The hostess Ulrike and the restaurant are a big part of what made the hotel feel top notch. Ulrike’s welcome might be the best I’ve ever experienced. She’s fun, warm, genuine, and almost cartoonish in the absolute best of ways, while also coming across as an artful mix of personable and professional. And she brought us bubbly! And she found safe storage for my bicycle! And she made my boyfriend, a black man, feel right at home. The restaurant is truly exceptional—the breakfast was incredible and huge(!) and the gal that serves breakfast was also really great at her job, with just the right balance of attentive but giving space, warm, and helpful. The dinner was one of the best we’ve had in several months of travel. Can’t say enough good things about this hotel!

Check in smooth. Cosy room. Staff organised a dinner booking for within 30 mins of our arrival at 5.30pm as the hotel restaurant has 6pm & 8pm sittings.

Took 2 days to get the towel rail warm. Would have been good if it was already on when we arrived as there were no instructions or markings on the controls as to how it worked. Floor boards quite squeaky which is often unavoidable in older buildings and is no reflection on the staff. Very noisy on the front pathway early one morning with extremely loud noise which lasted quite a while. Not sure if bins were being dragged over cobblestones but couldn’t get back to sleep after. Hotel restaurant was quite expensive, food was good & service was great.

Hotel Goldgasse is perfectly located in the heart of the old town, in a narrow yet peaceful street. The hotel is small with just 16 rooms, ours was spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Breakfast is an absolute highlight with a great selection of savoury and sweet items laid out attractively on a tiered cake stand, with fresh orange juice and a selection of lovely fresh bread and rolls. Our waitress was so welcoming and friendly and remembered our breakfast drinks preferences each day.

The location perfect in old town close to restaurants and museums etc. Host was fabulous, extremely helpful friendly and kind always cheerful and wanted us to have a great experience of Salzburg. Greeted with warm cloths and a glass of fizz. Room good furnishings, fridge safe, tea, coffee, water and some juice in fridge free to use. Huge shower, big fluffy towels and face cloths, toiletries good quality , shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Little touches -sewing kit, shoe cleaner etc. they do laundry also if needed for a charge . Large Tv , small table and two chairs, hairdryer, corkscrew provided. Lift Nice historic building. Ambience good felt safe. Would go back! Right in heart of old town. WiFi good.

The let down was that on this occasion our hotel was just a very up market room the restaurant/ bar was closed for staff holidays. We had to go to hotel stein for breakfast - which was a lovely hotel fabulous views from restaurant but not what we anticipated for our stay and 5 mins walk away across the river. Had we been told in advance ( before we had paid) we might have changed our plans as we had nowhere in the evening to sit and relax apart from our bedroom. Tv only had two English speaking channels cnn and BBC news.

This hotel is located in the old part of Salzburg, which is great if you arrive by taxi or Uber. We were driving a rental car and the parking lot was a good way from the hotel, forcing two of us who are 65 years old, to roll our large suitcases through throngs of tourists and over cobblestones. We were hot and exhausted when we arrived. I do not recommend staying here if you have a rental car you need to park.

That the parking was difficult. Some kind of valet parking would have been great.

We really enjoyed the location with the comfortable walking distance to everything worth seeing in town. Good spacious room with everything you need. A big plus to the wonderful hosting and warm welcome we received at check-in! Also very helpful staff throughout the stay. A worthy note; this hotel has the softest towels we have ever come across when we travel!

The design of the room had a little too many statement pieces. We could hear the elevator since our room was in direct connection. But other than that we got a good nights sleep while staying.

Stayed in room # 122 for 2 night stay. Room was up a short L/shape staircase followed by landing and then a spiral staircase. Hotel staff carried all our bag up and down from the room for us. We had a full bed that was super comfortable even though the bed felt like it was going to be too hard, it was the best sleep we had on the first two weeks of our time in Europe. Hotel staff was super helpful and the sit down breakfast was phenomenal. Breakfast was in a beautiful room and served promptly, with eggs avail even per request. The location was central to all the tourist sites and less than a 5 minute walk to the square.

It doesn’t have air conditioning per se but when we visited in late August, with the curtains shut, windows closed and fan on our room was comfortable for us.

Location - right in the middle of Salzburg. Everything is within walking distance Big room and very clean. Very comforting bed, free mini bar. Staff very friendly and helpful - Ulricka was extremely helpful and so full of personal touch and personality. She is a bundle of joy Tips: Lots of cafes nearby for breaky - eg cafe bazar, tomaselli. Cafe Mozart for dessert - nockerl. Bosna / Balkan Grill is super yummy for 5.9 eur. Gorgeous clay courts for tennis at Salzburg Tennis Center - 15 min walk away. Fort is a great visit - very interesting and great view Billa supermarket nearby. Bring your own bags.

Not many facilities - it’s comfy.

Don’t skip the breakfast and make advance reservations for the restaurant, it’s amazing. This was the nicest, most enjoyable stay of our trip. The location is perfect; rooms are amazing and well-equipped without losing any charm; v nice there is a lift. Ulrike starts your stay with welcoming attentiveness, and is always helpful and lending good spirits to your stay - she is the heart of the hotel for sure! I can’t imagine staying anywhere else now. We will certainly return and highly recommend!

The hotel is located very central. It was cosy , clean and the food was exceptional. The staff were outstanding. From receptionist, she was s welcoming that we didn’t want leave the hotel. We were offered a glass of sparkling wine . Were checked in early then our time . We didn’t even have to ask . She was great in every single way . The waiting staff were excellent. The outdoor space of the restaurant was so good . We were very luck with the weather so we ate out every night . The food was just perfect. We eat out few other recommend place but her was just amazing.
