The service from the get go was amazing at Ovolo! Really lovely to have a surprise anniversary dessert and card. Hotel has a luxurious and quirky feel to it and the room was really nice and big, with gorgeous views. Bathroom was lovely too. The location was a highlight. Buffet breakfast was nice too, barista coffee was a nice touch. Would definitely stay here again!

The room heating wasn’t working too well. Nice that there was a portable heater and blanket already in the room, but it was still quite cold, need to upgrade the heating and cooling of the rooms. The water temperature with the shower was temperamental at times. Wish room service was all night as well

The person who checked us in noticed from my passport that it was my birthday, so bubbles were sent up shortly after we checked in, which was a lovely start to our stay. The room, or suite really, was spacious and very comfortable, especially the bed. It was lovely to relax on the couch and look out over the water. Having access to Alexa was very useful and it was great to be able to play music through the room's speaker. We loved the coffee maker too and even the nice touch of a jar of bath salts in the bathroom, which allowed for a lovely soak after a hard day's sightseeing. It was a real home from home. And finally, the staff were unfailingly courteous and helpful.

The pigeons clattering over the skylights each morning at daybreak! Although by the third morning it was easy to ignore and go back to sleep. The blinds on the skylight were tricky to open and close too - I would advise leaving them down!

Amazing looking building, inside and out. Great location. We walked to the opera house and circular quay every morning through the botanical gardens / along the sea front (takes about 20 mins to walk). Rooms lovely, quirky, large and nicely decorated. Huge beds. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice bar with a pool table.

Only thing I can think of is that the room service (beds made, new towels, tea / coffee) is slightly mysterious. It takes place unusually late in the afternoon and didn’t seem to happen at all on one day. But just possible that we didn’t understand how it worked or messed up the rhythm (we left early for breakfast, came back mid afternoon and then went out again in the evening most days).

Staff were exceptional, every single person was attentive and responsive to any concerns and only wanted to help as much as possible. Was pretty amazing actually, very impressive. Location is also great, somewhat a suburban feel however it's less than 1km to Hyde Park. Really suits me as I don't like the cramped feel of inner city hotels and apartments which this place doesn't have. The building was a great rework of industrial architecture from a previous era

My room didn't have any real windows and I would have appreciated more choice when booking whether or not I would have a view outside the room. A warning was provided that said 'some rooms don't have windows or limited windows' but given the complete lack of view to the outside world I actually think I should have paid less for my room. Heating in the room was poor, the a/c was completely overpowered by the weather. However, staff were very helpful in providing me with portable heaters which made things perfect. Room was 502 and whilst I'll stay at Ovolo again I'll be requesting not to stay in 502 a second time.

Our stay at the hotel was truly enjoyable. The staff and customer service were particularly noteworthy, as every member we interacted with provided exceptional service, contributing to a memorable experience. We would like to extend special thanks to Jordan, Alina, and Shakeeb from reception, as well as Deepa from the breakfast team. Another highlight was the spacious rooms and the beautiful architecture of the building, which created a relaxing atmosphere. The hotel's proximity to nice restaurants was also a plus, with China Doll being our favorite. Additionally the lolly cart was an unexpected, and quirky touch which was appreciated Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time there and plan to return.

The only suggestion for improvement would be to offer a wider variety of breakfast options and, although this is beyond the hotel's control, the location.

Reception staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and very comfortable. We had a harbor view which had a beautiful view of a small yacht harbor and the city skyline. The hotel is within walking distance to the Royal Botanical Gardens and ultimately to the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Public transport is easy and there are always taxis waiting outside. The building is a very interesting and exciting monument and has been very sympathetically designed for reuse.

It is very cold in the reception and breakfast areas (we visited in winter). There are ample heaters placed around the breakfast area but due to the sheer size of the building, it is hard to keep the open public spaces warm - be sure to dress appropriately for an early winter breakfast.

​We had a fantastic family trip to this hotel! The atmosphere was a huge hit with our children, who absolutely loved every moment of it. From the moment we arrived, we were so impressed . Every interaction, whether with the incredibly helpful general hotel staff, the prompt and friendly room service, or the diligent and thorough cleaning team, was superb. They truly made our stay comfortable and enjoyable for the whole family.

THE shower , getting the water temperature consistent, was a challenge, as it oscillated between extremes, and the pressure was quite low. It took a fair bit of time to get it comfortable..

I really loved the spacious layout of the room — it felt open and comfortable. Having Chromecast was a great touch, and the full-length mirror plus well-placed power points (even in the bathroom) made the space super convenient. The reception team were genuinely lovely, and I really appreciated the late check-out.

That said, a few things let the experience down. The bed wasn’t especially comfortable, which stood out since that’s usually a highlight of any hotel stay. The bathroom floor was quite slippery, and the bathtub didn’t seem properly cleaned — once I filled it, the grime became obvious. I’d booked the room specifically for a relaxing soak, so that was disappointing. Also, the cordless phone was surprisingly frustrating. I tried dialing 1 and a few other options to reach reception, but nothing connected — in the end, I used my mobile to call the front desk just to extend my check out. Small issues, but enough to take away from what could have been a much more seamless stay.

Location & the uniqueness of the property. Staff were exceptional on this stay. From checkin ( early thank you), Rachel was lovely & very friendly. I was glad that breakfast was included. I’m generally not a breakfast person & happy with coffee & pastries, but was pleasantly surprised with the choices & juices each day. The lady at breakfast was awesome. (I didn’t get her name but long hair in a ponytail). She was very helpful & kept the other staff busy always attending to guests if not clearing tables. A very pleasant sight as I’m a former FOM @ Sofitel, Gold Coast.

I’ve stayed at the property before, even in the “Blue @ Woolloomooloo” days. I must admit I much preferred the navy & chocolate tones back then. Not a big fan of the current room decors unfortunately so was glad to hear the receptionist mention of a refurb later in the year. My last stay was for World Pride in Sydney.

The style of the hotel is great and the room we had was very spacious and comfortable. The little sweet cart was a nice touch and we enjoyed a drink at the bar. I would stay here again.

The bathroom was clean, however it looked like it would benefit from a deep clean and a little bit of maintenance. The room location was on Level 5 but close to the front and therefore near the road, so unfortunately we were woken by the pedestrian crossing and traffic in the morning. Next time I'd ask for a quiet room. The lobby / bar area is really cool, however it was a little cold.
