Breakfast was fab. When we arrived the lady was so so helpful. Our rooms were very comfy but tired, could do with a bit of decorating. Beds were very comfy. Upon arriving at the hotel you come in from the side and it looks very run down but then when you get to the front, we were all pleasantly surprised and thought 'thank god'. All staff were friendly, including the cleaning staff. We got a taxi into the city centre which cost us £8 for 4 of us (1pm). Would stay again but the whole place needs a bit of a revamp.

I liked the location a lot. It's outside the city so it's not very busy around. It has a pub (restaurant) next to it, 2 minutes walk, and a supermarket (ASDA) and petrol station. So you have all you need around. The room has a kettle with coffee or tea and water to drink. It also has a hair dryer, air conditioning. Very comfortable bed and good pillows.

We just went there to spend a couple of nights, no breakfast, no drinks. We had other places to go so didn't need to go to the hotel's restaurant. Just for sleeping there is perfect

The staff were all great. Friendly, helpful, and cheerful. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Bathroom looked like it had been recently refurbished and the shower was great. Breakfast was fine - the natural yoghurt was particularly lovely, and there were plenty of options - rolls, pastries, cereals, fruit, cheese and ham and cooked food.

The room was very hot. There was air conditioning but it didn’t stay on for very long.

Paid by Paypal on Booking.com but payment had not gone through yet when we arrived. Staff very helpful in sorting this out. 2 rooms for me and an aunt visiting relatives. Easy to get to, plenty parking, good size room, good shower, comfy bed. Really good breakfast selection very tasty. On leaving aunt left item of jewellery in bathroom by accident. On phoning, staff very helpful immediately retrieved it and kept safe to be uplifted. Enjoyed our stay and I have nothing but praise for the staff.

The hotel is fine it is just a bit dated and tired it could do with a refurb now. Old single glazed windows allow intrusive traffic noise. Also there is no aircon and the windows do not open. My room faced the sun and became hotter throughout the day with no way of cooling it at all. This will only be a problem in warm weather. The hotel did the job required and the price was reasonable for what was on offer.

The room was a comfortable temperature and tastefully decorated, the twin beds were very comfortable for my brother and I who are both retired, at other hotels I've stayed I was relegated to a sofa bed relinquishing the bed to my 90yr old father, which exacerbated my disability and required medical intervention. The location was excellent for our needs, we needed to buy a few things which we had forgotten to bring with us so the near by supermarket was a god send. The train station was easily accessible for us to collect other incoming family members for the family gathering. The breakfast was lovely and the fried bread and the black pudding were a very welcome surprise, my compliments to the chef on the menu.

Although I am disabled I am able to climb stairs with the aid of my crutches, fortunately I was on the first floor though a lift would have been helpful. That is my only negative about our stay.

I made contact before we arrived and explained it was my wife's birthday. They made a real effort leaving some prosecco and balloons in the room with a lovely card. The food in the restaurant was excellent in the evening and the breakfast was excellent with absolutely everything on offer you could wish for in the morning. The was comfy and the room was lovely and clean. Shower was also excellent. A wonderful stay. Thank you to all the staff who were excellent.

Being critical my wife wanted an iron but there wasnt one in the room. I'm sure if she had asked there would have been one she could use...

My room was lovely, I liked that there were bath robes and slippers. The inclusion of an espresso machine was a good idea for those who like strong coffee. The bathroom was a nice size. The staff were excellent, very helpful.

The location was a bit further from the city centre than I would have liked. However, there was a reliable bus service so it wasn't such a problem after all.

Lovely hotel, staff were very friendly, breakfast was amazing, best mushrooms I've ever had in a hotel.

Was originally put in the wrong room, had booked a twin and was put in a double but this was changed as soon as I asked. I also think they need better signage to locate the entrance of the hotel from the car park, I walked to where it looked like the sign was directing from the car park and walked into a conference room.

Reception staff very welcoming. Bed was large and comfortable. Restaurant had good choices on the menu reasonably priced.

Paid for an upgraded room (room 75) before arrival. In the room the WC didn’t work so had to be downgraded to a Sandard room. No maintenance staff available to effect a repair. Restaurant was ‘cold’ and lacked atmosphere. The tables had no linen covers so we were eating off the bear table. Waiting staff were seen to spray the tables before wiping but didn’t lift the cutlery to do so (???), therefore overspray on the cutlery. The coffee steamer was not working, so no Latte’s were available. The Hotel had run out of Peroni and run out of Sea Bass. THe rooms were clean but ‘tired’, carpet had areas of threadbare, the showers were ‘old’ but functional.

After booking we noticed reviews that had been said about the hotell, after I read a few ,I began to wonder if we had done right by booking up . People only giving 3 to 3.5 stars had me worried . Now after our stay with you , we can honestly say we had nothing to worry about. Yes I must admit some of the comments had been right, about the furniture been dated , but apart from that I don't know what all the fuss was about from other people's comments . The staff were so friendly & helpful , the hotel is clean and the food was lovely ..would we come and stay again 100% Many Thanks to everyone at Mercure hotel Norwich who made our stay enjoyable x

They wasn't anything we didn't like, we have come away very happy customers in everyway , All I can say to other people is , don't always believe everything you read ,do what we did and go & see for yourselves , you won't be disappointed x
