Visited Norwich to commerate VJ Day at the Cathedral. Hotel in excellent location, within very easy access to the beautiful historical city of Norwich with its cobbled streets and vibrant and gracious shopping areas. . Our ground floor room was quiet and easily assessable with our dog. Hotel is slowly being upgraded to its former glory with lovely staircases and our bathroom was an example of the opulent era with a beautiful patterned marble floor. Bedroom was comfortable. Breakfast excellent with a variety of choice, freshly prepared and the service was exceptional. Lovely outdoor terrace accessable from our room, bar and restaurant, which made life so much easier with our dog. Beautiful, peaceful ,comfortable wood panalled sitting room without a TV. The staff were exceptional from check in to leaving. Bags sorted, dog checked on and we felt really cared for . Car parking on site invaluable in a city

In our room a couple of minor issues, an extra comfy chair would have been useful, as there was only one in the room and perhaps a fan could be located on the outside front wall to circulate fresh air into the room. The large Victorian sash windows have blinds, but were not able to be opened from a security aspect, and the internal fans provided, struggled with the excessive heat, It was an exceptionally hot few days with temperatures in the high 80's and that is not the fault of the hotel.

Warm welcome, helpful team. Great central location. Grand building. On site parking for a set fee. The rooms were a generous size with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and complimentary biscuits.

Rooms are a little tired and could do with modernisation. The bathroom sink unit had repair done (very makeshift) Some of the hotel decor was in keeping with it's age - but some of the decor in the corridors and rooms were not in keeping and from a different era (a very minor detail but did seem to clash) Please don't take this feedback to heart, I was very happy with our stay and would look to book again

The room was comfy and clean and done what for what i needed.

The restaurant was closed so i had to find alternative arrangements for dinner. I also did not get to have my paid for breakfast as when i arrived i was informed that it started at 7.30. As i was traveling for work this was far to late. I start work at 8. I travel weekly and stay in a lot of hotels most others start from 6.30 allowing early working people enough time to benefit from breakfast before starting work. You are able to hear conversations and noises from the rooms on each side, which can be annoying when you have to be up early.

Stayed at the St Giles House Hotel for a Hen Weekend. All the staff were so friendly & helpful. We were able to decorate the room with balloons etc & they kindly said they would deal with them on our departure. Breakfast was so tasty & cooked to perfection. Choice of Cereals & Pastries as well as ordering a cooked breakfast from a menu. Really good variety of choices including Full English, Eggs Benedict, Avocado on Toast & many more. Our room was lovely, very comfy bed, extremely spacious room & the bathrooms are huge! The Hotel itself is about a 20 min walk from the train station & a couple minutes walk to the center of town, it's the perfect location. I booked via Booking.com however the front of house gentleman said to call directly next time as they match price & sometimes offer better deals. I have no faults with this Hotel & would most definitely stay again.

The room (16) was superb. Spacious, comfortable and interestingly furnished. Breakfast was superb, as was the restaurant. Clearly someone in the kitchen knows their stuff! All contact with staff was polite and pleasant. The location really couldn't be better.

There was a lot of early morning noise from the road (the hotel is a listed building with single-glazed windows), and getting to the hotel car park through traffic-restricted streets caused our sat-nav some problems! There were a few issues with the shower and enclosure that need a little TLC, but generally we were delighted.

Hotel excellent in options for rooms. I had a disability room which I found very good. View from balcony poor. Bed not comfortable and no proper plug for my kettle. Reception on tv not very good so lost programmes when watching vital storyline. Nicely decorated room and cleaning service good. Breakfast excellent and good choice. I liked the location being central for all sights. I enjoyed my stay. Thank you.

Very central, good car parking facility. Only had breakfast but that was very good. Good size bedrooms and bathrooms. Friendly staff

We were put in the Georgian wing which is on the ground floor, facing the road. We thought wonderful, no stairs or lifts to navigate. Downside, constant road noise, particularly on Saturday night, people walking past right outside the window, talking loudly and cars parking. Early morning traffic, like 5 o’clock, delivering to the market. We did tell the staff at the end of the stay.

The hotel is charming with delightful and helpful staff. It has a very good kitchen which is good value - and the breakfast is extraordinarily good. It's location in the Lanes area is quiet, central and ideal for both leisure and business visitors.

The rooms, whilst comfortable, are not large and do not have dedicated desk areas (for working). There are other areas in the hotel that staff can make available to business users.

Lovely experience. The staff are amazing, so friendly and warm. We were greeted with smiles and attention and it continued till we left. The parking was a bonus in such a central location. The layout of the hotel flowed, so it was easy and convenient to get from one space to another. The room was clean, well thought out and it had everything. The mini bar in the wardrobe was quite a surprise- didn’t know anyone still had those- and there was air conditioning.

Could have been the time of year, but the hotel bar and the patio seemed a little sad and neglected. There were plastic flowers on the ground. It just seemed a little meh….

I had a beautiful room with large sash windows that opened, a gorgeously comfortable double bed, lovely fresh white linen, a dyson fan to help cool the room and all I could ask for in a hotel room really! Fluffy towels. Complimentary water. Toiletries. It is a city centre hotel so there was lots of outside noise but happily the fan drowned that out! I also received a lovely warm welcome when I arrived and a warm farewell too.

The bathroom, although lovely and large, wasn't as clean as you'd hope it would be. I understand the hotel is undergoing renovations but this shouldn't allow basic standards to drop. However this didn't hugely impact my stay and I'd glady stay again.
