We had a truly wonderful stay. The hotel's central location made exploring the area incredibly convenient. The thoughtful gestures, like the chocolates and birthday card for my wife, added a personal touch that made our visit extra special. After a long drive, the slice of cake, paired with tea and fresh milk, was such a comforting welcome—exactly what we needed to unwind. The room itself was beautifully appointed, with every detail carefully considered to ensure a relaxing and enjoyable stay. It’s clear that the team goes the extra mile to make guests feel valued and comfortable. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.

While our overall experience was great, there were a few small inconveniences. The TV signal kept dropping out, even after we reported the issue. The sash window wouldn’t stay up, making ventilation tricky. Additionally, while the rain showerhead worked perfectly, the hand shower didn’t, and unfortunately, the plumber wasn’t available until Monday to fix it. Despite these minor faults, we would absolutely return, the warm hospitality and attention to detail made the stay enjoyable.

Warm welcome by Rory to a quirky period property and a very pleasant, traditionally furnished bedroom on the ground floor of the main building. Appreciated the modern shower room and comfortable bed in the Nelson, mid price range of this 10 bedroomed b&b. Location, 5mins from the market and close to wide range of restaurants was part of its appeal. Great freshly cooked breakfast in the small dining room. Early check in and 11am check out also appreciated.

Nothing to complain about. Some might not like needing to agree to breakfast time in advance. We appreciated that this was to manage the few tables in the small dining room and ensure good service from the kitchen. It isn't a cheap option but it did feel special.

Great location in the city centre but not noisy at night (I was on the 2nd floor at the back). Really comfy bed, good shower and lovely l'Occitane toiletries. Yummy chocolate brownie on arrival and also on my second night.The cooked breakfast was the best I've had and perfect for me. All the staff I met or talked to were really friendly and helpful. It was easy to come and go as I pleased and it felt very safe and secure.

When I had the continental breakfast brought to my room there was no little table to eat it from ( maybe it is for eating in bed!) And the coffee machine in my room didn't work. It would have been nice to have a shelf in the shower for toiletries ( just had to put them on the floor) and also a hook on the back of the bathroom door to hang up clothes/ dressing gown. It was very expensive to stay here.

I absolutely loved everything about my stay at 38 St Giles. Unfortunately I took I’ll on my second day, which had nothing to do with the hotel, just the results of some stress issues. The staff all treated me like a family member. Nothing was too much for them. I don’t think my own family could have done more. The breakfast lived up to and exceeded expectations, in fact the whole experience was so much better than anything I could have anticipated. I take my hat off to the owner, Dennis and his magnificent members of staff, with a special mention to Danni as she was the one with whom I had the most interaction.

I didn’t like the fact that I didn’t know about 38 St Giles before, otherwise I would not have stayed at the three other hotels and just driven straight to Norwich. It was that good.

Staff is very friendly and the breakfast is lush, with lots of options. Breakfast is made fresh every morning using locally sourced and homemade ingredients. Some days, tea was already waiting for me at the table once I got down to the breakfast room due to the attentiveness of staff. The bedroom itself was very spacious, with a nice big television and a big plush bed that was very comfortable. On arrival, there was a piece of cake and some fruit waiting to greet me. The building is older, with older wooden floors and narrow stairwells, but that just adds to the character of it. It was really lovely!

Though there was WiFi listed on the hotel listing, there was no WiFi to speak of during my whole stay. Because the building is older it creaks a lot and if there is noise in neighbouring rooms, you'll hear it very well. There's also a nearby nursery so if you don't fancy being woken by the chatter or crying of excited toddlers at eight in the morning because you're a light sleeper like myself, it might be wise to bring earplugs. The hotel is not wheelchair accessible and might give people using a cane some trouble.

Central location. Old property very nicely renovated with good quality materials and striking contemporary style whilst still respecting the age of the building. Good shower. Comfortable bed and pillows. Generous very well prepared breakfasts. Helpful staff at check in, breakfast and check out.

The common entrance passage could do with a good clean, entrance shared with a plant nursery and a crèche. The bedroom and bathroom were really small, and suitable only for one (small) person. It’s the smallness of the room that makes it poorer value for money. Check in worked smoothly and the personal touch was appreciated.

This beautiful, historic building is a hidden gem in the heart of the city. We were greeted on arrival and shown to our room. The room itself was cosy, clean and charming. We even had fresh brownies to enjoy next to our tea and coffee facilities. The home-cooked breakfasts are amazing too. We’ll be staying here again.

The room was a bit warm and we were unable to open a window, but the fan in the room did provide air circulation.

I liked the communication as there where no questions unanswered , so it meant there was less stress and access was easy. I also liked that there was parking. Great breakfast and Location

light was poor when getting ready for a women. They did have a Hand mirror (thank god) which I used inside the bathroom which was a real help, otherwise I would have struggled. There is a brand called Simple Human (hand round mirror) that lights up (very good) that may help as I know. The parking they only have 3 slots we couldn't get in the spot they allocated us so a little bit of faff and inconvenience but sorted when the other gust moved their car out.

The staff were lovely and it is in a great location! Breakfast was delicious especially the homemade granola, we were excited to have that the following day. Great portions. Out of the way but walkable into the centre. Lovely coffee shops and bakers down the road. Everything was v clean and it was a nice touch to have the room touched up a little whilst were out for the day.

The room was a little small as was the bathroom but it did have everything we needed. Maybe just a little pricey for that size.

The person who dealt with everything during my stay - from welcoming me on arrival through to serving breakfast - was excellent. Friendly, efficient ... exactly as I would have wanted. My room was beautiful and spotless. The brownie waiting for me on arrival was delicious and so was my generous and stunningly presented breakfast. I had a wonderful stay and will definitely return.
