The location was perfect. Room was quite small but bed was large and comfortable. There was a kettle and cups with tea and coffee which was a nice surprise. Most reception staff were helpful and friendly. We had breakfast one morning. Basic but fresh and the actual room is small. However our personal choice was to find a little cafe on our way out.

One of the female reception staff embarrassed us in front of other guests. Instead of asking us if we could wait a few minutes she told us that we hadn't paid in a loud unpleasant way, as if we were trying to run off.....we were there for another 4 days !. Disappointing as the other staff were lovely

1. The location was excellent. Great train access. Very close to both Lille Europe and Lille Flanders. We rented a car, so we can't comment on other public transit access but lots of restaurants, pharmacies, stores within walking distance. And of course, Les Tanneurs which means tons of 🛍 options in a pedestrian friendly area. 2. Helpful staff. 3. Clean room, comfortable bed. 4. Hotel has a deal with Indigo parking at Les Tanneurs - 19 euro for 24 hours instead of 26 euro full price. Was a great help.

1. Even in early June, it was really hot this year, and the room got uncomfortably warm at night. Had to buy a (lovely!) USB desk fan from HEMA (near by!) to be able to sleep. 2. The room was a little tight for two medium suitcases. I'd give up one of the two side chairs (not useful) to have an extra luggage rack, for sure. Hotels need to understand that a 2-person accommodation needs to provide arrangements for more than one suitcase. 3. Why are hotels so resistant to providing ample wall hooks in the bathrooms? It's a small, inexpensive thing that can add so much more convenience! A traveler's pipe dream, I guess :D

The hotel is in a great location - close to the stations, but not too close. Close to the Grand Place, but again not too close that street noise is a problem. The ground floor is charmingly decorated, while the staff were equally charming. Our room was very clean and the bedding and towels were excellent. We had a slight problem lowering the window shutter, but that was resolved quickly and charmingly too. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide range of fresh and tasty food to choose from. The croissants were just right. We would definitely stay here again.

The location was excellent, close to the station and old town. Staff were pleasant and non-intrusive. The hotel reception and building is very French, especially the wrought iron lift which is novel. The artworks everywhere were appreciated. Fresh cotton bedding, clean bathroom. Our room was great, overlooking a side street but with a side view of the cathedral, we even enjoyed the extensive bell ringing (it was Sunday evening). Breakfast was buffet style and adequate although with the room being smallish, I guess it could get awkward with the limited space. It was fine for my son and I as we had the room to ourselves!

It worked out fine for us but 2pm check in and midday check out would be an improvement on the current times.

A lovely hotel with an excellent location within Lille. I stayed for a week to watch the Olympics and it was perfect for what I needed. It's very easy to find, just a short walk from the train stations, and right next to a fantastic church. The check in process was very easy and all the staff I encountered during my stay were very friendly and helpful. I had everything I needed and the room was cleaned daily. Would definitely stay here again next time I visit Lille.

The lift is very small and slow, but at the same time, it is great to experience and adds to the historic feel of the hotel - just be aware that it can be slow and very limited in capacity. Unfortunately there is no air conditioning in the rooms, which in summer can make the rooms hot - just something to bear in mind if you plan to visit in summer. I had a wonderful room with windows overlooking the church and was able to keep them open at night to cool down.

Location was great, and the hotel room was clean and nicely decorated. Bed was comfortable. It had a lovely style and the lobby was very quaint.

Lift is old (vintage and cool) but only will fit about one person with luggage. The room had a radiator that was only controlled by the hotel, and was extremely hot in the room. Had to sleep with the window open, but wasn’t enough to cool the room; which meant no sleep. The front desk said the heat is turned down at night but that was not the case. The person at the desk in the morning was not very concerned and dismissive.

The location opposite St Maurice church was lovely, very easy to get to the train station and really central for the old town. The architecture of the building was very typical of the age and region with a feature corner entrance. The foyer area is simple and tasteful with quirky features. The reception desk is quite vintage and the hotel still uses keys on fobs. Delightful. The vintage lift is a central feature and, although small, very attractive as is the art nouveau curved stair handrail. Rooms are over 6 floors with 10 rooms per floor. The rooms was compact with attractive colour scheme of black and pale yellow. The bathroom too was compact and modernish. I particularly liked the wicker high-backed armchair close to the window with a small side table. nice details.

A fan or AC unit would be useful in hot weather as it is unadvisable to leave the window open at night because of the possibility of mosquitoes. We did not use the breakfast room but it looked pleasant and convenient although there are plenty of coffee shops near by which we did use.

The hotel is well located for the train stations and old Lille, with a good range of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. Our room on the top floor was a good size and had great views of the church. The staff were friendly and welcoming and there was plenty of choice at the buffet continental breakfast, including fresh fruit, pancakes, boiled eggs and the local waffles. We loved the Art Deco lift and pictures/posters on the walls.

We had lovely weather during our stay, but that meant it got a little warm in our room, which was in the loft, and it would have been good to have had a fan.

Used several times now. We like the old-fashioned feel of the place; they manage to keep the ancient lift running somehow, and there are nice paintings and quaint furniture in the front lounge, which is really cosy, where you can get tea and coffee served. Our favourite restaurant Brasserie André is nearby. A quiet pedestrianised street right in the centre, church opposite, easy walk from Eurostar. Lovely staff, very helpful with our peculiar travel needs, and extended our check-out time as well.

Still no air-conditioning, although our east-facing room had a through draught (which we could not leave open because of potential access from the fire escape) - our friends' room faced south and they suffered more. We spotted, too late, a cache of fans, which we could have asked for if we had known. A reminder that the pile of eggs at breakfast were NOT hard-boiled would have avoided tapping and wasting them...

The hotel was perfectly located, very central and a 10 minute walk from Lille Europe. The hotel was very charming and authentic feeling with a wonderful original cage style lift. Our room had a lovely view over the beautiful church opposite, the room was very tasteful and spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable and with lovely plump pillows. The windows all had shutters, when used at night blocked out any early morning light. Staff were friendly and helpful.

No air con, which I would have struggled with in summer
