The staff were very helpful and friendly and upon my request they were all willing to speak with me in French rather than English. Some of them went out of their way to assist me in my endeavours to learn more French. The location is fantastic! It's minutes from both train stations and from historic and walking distance of most historic buildings and organisations which I wanted to visit. The public areas like étage sitting areas and the petit-déjeuner room are lovely, comfy and very French.

My room needs was very clean but very bland and very dated. As is often the case in an old building the superior double room was very small. Two people would struggle to coexist in the room. The bathroom had been updated and was very clean but it was very small that a large person would struggle to use the bath /shower and toilet. I managed okay. The bathroom needs another towel rack or two.

- location - one of the best sleeps I’ve ever had (As our room was on the 1st floor, the stairs in front of the door, I was worried it would be noisy. Turned out it wasn’t! Perhaps the double doors really helped cutting the noise. The room was pitch black too!) - friendly staffs - clean - lots of storage (We only stayed for one night but otherwise this would come really handy)

The bathroom was huge but the tub was rather narrow and small, and weak shower pressure. We booked a room with a shower, but got a room with a tub, which wasn’t a problem for us, but for someone with difficulties to lift up legs this may have been an issue, although I’m sure the staff would simply change the room.

Very good location and a pleasant stay. Our room faced onto the street, but was quiet and slept very well. As previous guests have noted, the shower was not 'walk in', but hand held, over the bath. Not a problem for one night and rooms are available with a different style of shower - we were advised to specify this when booking. Did not have breakfast and there are many cafés close by offering a 'formule'. The interior and décor of the hotel is lovely - lots of paintings and a curved staircase. Friendly staff and will definitely return when next in Lille. Recommended.

This small but cosy hotel has the charm of an older family run establishment. It's perfect for it's central location in the old town close to all shops cafes, museum, transport links including both Eurostar and local trains and metro. It's not on the main street so it is quiet at night. The staff are fabulous. The bed was very comfortable and house-keeping daily. The walls are thin but it's a quiet establishment. Great stay. Highly recommended if you're looking for some authenticity. Plus a bath.

Excellent location right in the heart of the city and an easy walk to all the important places, including the rail stations. Friendly and helpful staff, one colleague was even kind enough to print out a document I needed for work and recommended some great local restaurants with Lillois specialities. My room was small but comfortable with decent soundproofing

I really wish they hadn't locked the fridge - I don't think many guests really want a mini-bar but they do appreciate somewhere to keep their drinks cool, especially in hot weather. Wifi was variable on the second floor and kept dropping out. By the way, I was surprised the photo they use to advertise the hotel is a local historic building - not the hotel at all!

Great staff and the rooms were good value for money (a little small but as expected in France).

The toilet door didn’t close fully as the door hits your knees once you are sat on the toilet. This could be awkward depending on who you are travelling with, but there isn’t much that can be done about this problem as it’s just a result of poor architecture. We didn’t mention it to the staff as I’m sure they are probably fed up of receiving the same feedback! The staff were lovely and this made up for the lack of toilet door closing!

Super helpful reception. Very comfortable beds. Lift. Breakfast not complicated, but good enough. Very quiet. A proper bath in addition to shower. Very pleasant decor. Excellent restaurants opposite. Central location, but also not far from the railway stations.

There was a fire alarm around 5am one night. It was a not a fire, so a little inconvenient, but at least the alarm system worked! Helpful to have 24 hr reception in such eventualities!

Location was perfect so close to the train stations & centre. Staff were really nice & really friendly. The communal areas & rooms were spotlessly clean. The decor wouldn't be to everyone's taste but it suited the theme & character of the hotel. Bed was so comfy. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel so can't comment.

The only let downs were there was no kettle or tea/coffee making facilities in the room. More pillows would have been nice.

Charming little hotel with character, very helpful staff and an ideal location, 10 mins walk from Eurostar, old town but the hotel was lovely and quiet. Very clean, comfy beds. Breakfast is continental, maybe a little overpriced but good for first day. I would definitely stay again.

This is not a modern hotel, so no USB points but plenty of plug sockets so no problems there. A kettle in the room would have been welcomed.

Breakfast was included in our cost and was tasty and substantial. Our room was tiny but very comfortable. The bathroom was larger than other bathrooms we'd experienced in our two weeks in Amsterdam and France. Staff helped us by recommending a good place for our evening meal and also got us a cab when we left in the morning. Very close to the Lille Europe train station.

Teeny tiny elevator only held one of us plus a suitcase so we had to make two runs. But not a big deal; certainly wouldn't keep us from rebooking here in the future.
