What a beautiful location. I had been to the little church, Maria Gern, 2X prior so I was excited to stay in this area. This hotel has been in the family for over 150 yrs and it was wonderful. Breakfast was outstanding. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were on the 3rd floor (USA floors) with a balcony view of the church (no elevator). Just peaceful and the fresh air was outstanding. The room was large enough for our twin beds and the temperature was good. We could watch the morning fog lift over the mtns daily. Since we had a car, getting to the Eagle's Nest, the Salt Mines, Konig See and the Wimbachklamm areas was easy enough. This hotel is truly the typical German style. We did not eat in the restaurant as it was not open on our days. We would definitely stay at this Gasthof again and recommend it highly.

Perhaps different pillows ... these were quite thin.

Superb location in Alpine valley with beautiful views of meadows and mountains. Situated across from the historic Maria Gern pilgrimage church. Friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast buffet, bus across the road took us into Berchtesgaden and Hauptbahnhof. Traditional music in restaurant on Thursday nights, good local food and so pleasant to eat out on the large terrace.

Only thing I would change is not being bitten by mosquitoes while sleeping! (My friend was unaffected.)

First things first this property is located on very serene location just adjacent to the Maria Gern church. The staffs are very friendly and above all the room was very well maintained and clean throughout my entire stay. It was totally worth.

So someone who's a solo traveler depending on public transport to commute you have to be mindful of the last buses running to Maria Gern. If you miss it then it's a taxi ride or a trek 😅. Mondays and Tuesdays Ruhetags for the Restaurant at the property so need to grab something from the city for dinner.

The hotel only has 4 parking spaces outside the building and if these are full, there’s further parking but down a steep slope. There is no further facilities for parking due to the location of the hotel. It is not a criticism but for anyone with mobility issues it could prove difficult.

The hotel is traditional and exactly what you would expect to stay in in the mountains in Germany. They were very welcoming and there if we needed assistance. Rooms were a good size,, bed was comfortable and the room was very clean, as was the bathroom. Balcony had a great view of the mountains. Breakfast was a typical buffet style, which we all enjoyed, and there was plenty of it if you wanted more. The restaurant had a good selection of good food, and the lady serving was very nice and accommodating. We were given a guest card that enabled us to have free travel on the local bus service, so we used it and went everywhere we wanted to go on it. The hotel had character and was quiet at night, so you could get a good night's sleep. The hotel also served good beer. I would say that the hotel is good value and a great place to stay. We really enjoyed our break. THANKYOU.

Property was in a great location, amazing views, comfortable, excellent breakfast, friendly staff. Restaurant provided great traditional music and leader of group made event fun involving people and encouraging to sing along. Room and bathroom were clean, refrigerator was quiet, wine and Schnaps glasses were available along with wine and bottle opener. Was provided a quest discount card and was able to use it a few times for parking and tour rides.

Bathroom was a little tired: shower curtain needs to be replaced, shower handle was loose, some grout needs to be refreshed in shower, shower mounted soap dispenser seemed old and was empty, although an additional hand held pump soap dispenser was available. Shower function did not operate as it should. Needed to turn on shower valve and water at same time. Some people may find that difficult or frustrating. Wine bottle opener needs to be replaced.

The host family was very nice and lovely. Off beat hiking routes in and around. You can experience beautiful solace and calm living in the mountains.

It is away from main town area so preferably having own car is advisable. But still manageable with public transportation.

The location was perfect ! We were in room 206 which has a perfect veiw of Watzmann mountain . I would wake at night to sit on the balcony just to take in the view even more !

I’m an abnormally large man , I had a little trouble in the shower due to the sloped roof cutting into my space ! LOL ! That’s not even a complaint really .

I've stayed here a few times already and will be back again. Great value. The breakfast is solid, parking is easy, the views are incredible and the location around Maria Gern is wonderful. Definitely hike up the Kneifelspitze if you stay here! :)

Fantastic location outside of Berchtesgaden near the chapel of Maria Gern and the trailhead for the Kneifelspitze hike. The views of the Watzmann from the breakfast room and hotel are phenomenal. Traditional, family run, and beautiful little bed and breakfast. Everything was clean and well appointed. Would recommend staying here.
