The restaurant staff is amazing.

Maren that worked at the front desk seemed to not care that my family had gotten stuck in the elevator and the elevator car was bouncing. Ringing of the emergency bell was to no avail and when we were finally out of the elevator, I went to the front desk and spoke with Maren ago informed me that she's at the desk and cannot hear the emergency bell for the elevator. She then goes on to ask me how many people were in the elevator as I responded "four", and one was a 9 year old boy two teens and me. she goes on to tell me that there are too many in the elevator because the elevator only holds two people. This elevator clearly states "4 people" her tone and lack of empathy was just not of Marriot standard.

The breakfast is the best in Heidelberg. There were fried eggs and omelettes (cooked to order) available. If you weren't happy with the fried eggs they had they would cook them fresh for you. Plenty of hot and cold drinks, sliced meats, cheeses, large variety of breads and cereals as well. The sauna is textil-frei (probably makes the Nth Americans uncomfortable but very German) and well maintained, the pool is not but heated and indoors. The staff are very friendly from front desk, to the restaurant and cleaners. Every request I made both before and during my stay were met with kind professional responses. There was plenty of hot water for showers and baths, the bed was comfortable and the temperature was easy to moderate with the added option of opening the window. The view of the river and the lights at night is wonderful.

The room is dated (80's to 90's), although I had to REALLY look closely to find cracks or dirt. The property being Marriott can be expensive and sometimes it's hard to justify the cost with the age of the room. It would have been more ideal if the external wall/window were thicker to dampen the road traffic but not a problem in general. It's also a few blocks away from regular public transportation which might be bothersome for some people, but for myself I enjoyed the walking.

Such a wonderful experience we had.. it was my wife’s birthday and we wanted to have a short trip and what a perfect choice we made staying at this hotel.. they won our hearts when we were allowed to use executive lounge to celebrate the birthday.. my wife was so happy.. the staff was immensely polite right from front desk to the ones we met on floor.. the hotel itself has such a huge and decor rich living area which we loved because we also had to spend some time there on check out day.. best of all was the fact that my little pet was allowed to roam around everywhere. We would definitely come back to the town and this hotel in future.

Lovely facilities, spacious room, nice sized gym and pool and quite close to Heidelberg old town, 25 min walk or can get a tram, tram stop is down the road. Our room was clean and you have the essentials in your room. Beautiful christmas decorations too! Bar is great too.

Restaurant is quite overpriced unfortunately, we also had a miscommunication on christmas eve when we went to the restaurant for dinner and there was only a buffet available. We were charged €60 each, we contested this as there was no pricing on the menu and this is a lot, the manager took off our drinks. However, still €120 for 2 is very expensive and there are plenty of other restaurants open in Heidelberg old town. Additionally, on check in you are charged €50 per night as a tab and this is not optional. This wasn't communicated to us before arrival so was a surprise.

Had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant - sat outside right on the Neckar River with wonderful servers. Staff compensated me for lack of river view, which was greatly appreciated.

Paid for river view, but river was only visible around some corners - not when entering room, from desk, or from bed. Rooms need renovations. Also not clear whether the AC only works if windows are closed - should be made clear.

This is a beautiful hotel! We enjoyed our stay! We had dinner at the hotel, we were warmly received by Carlos Pinto. His service was simply exceptional, of all the restaurants we have been to, his level of service, etiquette and attentiveness to detail is unmatched, possibly deserves employee of the year. He is a great resource and definitely made our stay worth while! He is one of the main reasons we will return to this hotel! Customer service is everything. The food was just exceptional as well. The pool could be a little warmer than it was.

Stayed on top 5th floor with river view - Very good location about 5 minutes drive to the Old Bridge away from tourist area. A perfect stay for a morning run/bike with a stunning view 10-20 km loop along the Nectar River to the old town - Very comfortable room, clean sheet - no bugs / dusts and bed with a dark curtain. Very clean - My wife and son are allergic to dust and didn't have any during the stay. Good breakfast and coffee selection - free coffee break and snack during the day. Excellent service and friendly staff. Spacious underground parking 25 euro/night.

Old and classic Marriott but with good maintenance. Small bathroom with an ancient design bathtub, watch out for slippery, small guy like me couldn't stand in it.

Reading the comments left here, I must agree that the hotel is due for renovations. There are some areas that require some TLC and modernization. We stayed in room 302 facing the river. The bed a queen size was comfortable, the bathroom ok... carpeting and furniture for a 2023 4/5 star hotel has seen better days. However, if you're not looking for what to complain about, it's fine! The full breakfast is a bit expensive however, your selection is big and it's all you can eat. If you compare with a local brunch restaurant, you will pay a bit less (€37 for 2 pax), but you only get what you pay for... so stop complaining ! 🙄 yes, it is European prices... German tax is high, and to survive, products and services are higher compared to the US. So stay home and stop complaining.

Sauna included, coffee in the lobby, kind staff, clean room

The floors have moquette whose smell was really bad. The problem is that that smell was all over the room when windows were closed. Generally I like to have the signature of sanitized bathrooms and wc, and in Marriott hotels I have often found. In this location I didn't find it

The desk staff was extremely helpful in re-arranging rooms so that the chlidren could have their room and still be connected to the parents room. The breakfast, apart from having an excellent choice, had staff that were super friendly and helpful, fully understanding the little kids needs. In sthort: - top level staff friendlyness - breakfast choice and service - size of rooms - flexibility of the hotel to change things to accommodate customer needs
