The hotel is undergoing refurbishment and the new look is great. The staff are very friendly. We had a problem which was listened to and dealt with - Julia, the manager, couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. The room was on the small side but well laid out with a fantastic shower. Our room looked out on to a quiet street. I would definitely stay at the hotel again. We came for the Rock That Swing week - the hotel is just round the corner from the Deutsches Theatre venue. It was also convenient for tourist attractions in the old town.

There's a lovely sitting area off reception - this would be enhanced hugely if there was also a bar for evening drinks. This may be part of the refurbishment which would be great. I read that this isn't the best part of town to stay in, not helped by a lot of building work currently going on around the main station. Having said that, we didn't encounter any problems at all walking around at night.

From the moment I booked, the staff were friendly, professional and helpful. They facilitated an earlier check in even before my arrival. The location is fantastic, a minute's walk from bus and tram lines, nice restaurants in the vicinity, and v close to the fabulous shopping area in Munich. My room was wonderful, perfect use of space and storage. The bed was comfortable too. The breakfast options were varied and all very tasty. And as a solo traveller, everything felt very safe. I would very much recommend!

It's hard to say anything as I really did love this hotel. Perhaps one v small thing was that the beautiful wooden floorboards in the hall leading to the bedrooms on my floor anyway meant you could easily hear people in the hall from your room. The hotel was never noisy and I sleep v well, so it wasn't an issue. Perhaps just to consider if you're a very light sleeper.

We had a fantastic stay that truly exceeded our expectations. Room 116 was exactly what we needed; quiet, spacious, and spotlessly clean. It was located far from the lift and any other sources of noise, which gave us the perfect environment for a restful night’s sleep before our long journey back to Australia. The room was larger than we anticipated and extremely comfortable. Coffee-making facilities were available on request, adding to the excellent service. All in all, a wonderful stay—we couldn’t have asked for more. Highly recommended!

Pleasant welcome and lovely communal area. The room was exceptionally clean. A convenient distance from the train station and also the main city centre. Good breakfast and free afternoon snacks.

The bed was very hard and the feather covers were very hot. The room was a little dark although felt private. At one point housekeeping did enter the room without knocking (we were kindly given an early check-in). It was fine as I was just unpacking, but it was a little surprising. The immediate area outside is a little rundown but didn't feel unsafe

We booked a Deluxe Double Room at the Alpen Hotel Munchen. This is a small, boutique-style hotel (about 50 rooms) and recently renovated. The room was modern, well equipped and reasonably sized. The bedding was very comfortable. Breakfast was buffet style. The food was very good. Selection and quantity was a bit under-par. The location is excellent. The Hauptbahnhof, Karlsplatz and Marienplatz are all within walking distance or one subway stop away from the hotel.

While this hotel is rated a Four Star property, I’m finding it hard to believe it is rated at this level. While the room itself is what is to be expected from a Four Star property, the remainder of the hotel gives more of a Three Star impression wit the hallways being very stark and giving the feeling of walking down the corridor of a hospital or schoolhouse. With that said, this hotel is a bargain for what you get. We spent less than $250 per night here (with breakfast for two included) for this accommodation. We spent nearly 1.5 (or more) that amount in other European cities for nearly the same level of accommodation. The bottom line is that even if this property were rated at Three Stars it would be an excellent value.

Initially I was worried about the location as the hotel has an active building site on 3 sides. However, my room was nice , no view and small facilities, but i didn't mind, as it was comfortable and quiet at night. The staff were exceptionally nice. I was a solo traveller in a big difficult city so this really made a difference.

It was unavoidably loud at breakfast due to the construction work and traffic. A kettle would have been nice.

Best breakfast ever! Not a bad location, about 7 minutes' walk from the bahnhof.

I was not given a room with A/C, although I had booked that. I was moved the next day to a double with A/C (I'd booked a single) but then, they made me move AGAIN the next day, back to a single with A/C. You'd think they would have let me stay in the double, but, NO, I was moved twice. However, 2 of the 3 receptionists were very nice and helpful. One couldn't have cared less.

We gad a great stay at Alpen Hotel München.. I would definitely recommend it to anyone going to Munich. The staff were friendly, the room was always clean, there was a coffee machine and water kettle in the room. And the size of the room was good compared to other hotels. There was also a smoking area in the hotel. The location was amazing, 10 mins walk to Marienplatz, 1 minute walk to Karlspatz, and 3 minutes walk to Hauptbahnhof. Also, lots of restyrants and supermarkets close to the hotel.

It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Very centrally located and easy to get to Karlsplatz and Marienplatz - just a few minutes walk.

Usual English thing - a kettle in the room would have been good. This is a minor issue. It was also quite a warm room and noisy outside so I would definitely suggest booking an air conditioned room so that you can shut the windows, if it’s noisy outside. I really appreciated the fan that was in my room.

A small but comfortable room, tidy bathroom and a fridge. The room was quiet. Some helpful Info on an Ipad. It was very close to the train station and Stachus s-bahn or inner city. THe reception had a little map for free and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Some nice areas for guests, which I didn't use for my short stay. Access to room at 14:00 , that was great.

The room was small, but that didn't matter for my short stay. No coffee or Tea maker/ water kettle.
