We were extremely satisfied with our stay at Alter Athens! We can confidently say that this has become one of our favorite hotels, and from now on, we will always stay there whenever we are in Athens! The wonderful attitude of Aristo and his team was one of the things that impressed us the most! They are lovely and kind people who know how to make their guests feel comfortable and well-taken care of. We are really grateful to them! The hotel itself is also wonderful; the rooms are clean, well-maintained, and nice furnished. Our bed was super comfortable! A big plus was the parking space in front of the hotel, where we could leave our car, for which we thank Aristo once again! The location of the hotel is very good, practically in the center, but in a part that is not overcrowded and is quiet. We can't wait to come back!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Alter Athens hotel, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. They are incredibly caring and attentive, always ready to assist with any request, no matter how big or small. Whether it was providing local recommendations, arranging transportation, or simply checking in to see if I needed anything, their generosity and dedication were evident in every interaction. The rooms are impeccably clean and well-appointed, offering a perfect blend of comfort and style. The hotel’s location is also ideal, with easy access to many of Athens’ top attractions. However, it is the exceptional service and the warm, welcoming atmosphere created by the staff that truly sets Alter Athens apart. I highly recommend Alter Athens to anyone visiting the city. We stayed her twice, going and returning from a holiday in the Cyclades islands. We arrived at Alter at the beginning of June and again at the end of June. I loved the decor in this hotel which I would call alternative industrial. We stayed in a different room on each occasion. Both rooms were comfortable and had all that we required. Tea and coffee facilities' safe box and air conditioning were available. The housekeeping was excellent. One of the rooms had a lovely view of Lycabettus hill which we managed to visit afterwards. The hotel is located in a vibrant area mainly populated by Athenians. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and even an outdoor cinema, the Riviera. It's a great area for people watching. It's about 20 minutes walk from the centre depending on how distracted you get. The most enduring memory we will have of Alter hotel is the friendliness and helpfulness of both the staff and the hotel owner. We arrived for our first visit off a flight at 3am and on our second visit at 6am. Nothing seems to disturb these people. The welcome was warm and they seemed genuinely interested in their guests. You never arrived or left the hotel without being greeted and asked how you were going to spend your day or evening. Recommendations were made for dining or sightseeing. They were also happy to assist with practicalities like transfers. We had some great conversations. Thank you Aris and Billy, and all the others whose names I have forgotten, for all your kindness.

Nothing. This hotel provided all we required and each evening we felt like we were coming home to be greeted by friends.

A nicely appointed cozy hotel in a vibrant part of Athens. First-time visitor to the city, the staff were friendly, helpful and good communicators via the app. I was happy with all aspects of the hotel: comfort, cleanliness, customer service, amenities. To achieve a peaceful sleep in Athens centre was equally impressive. The neighbourhood had attractive bars, cafes and parks. I would gladly stay again.

WOW!!! If you want to get to know Athens and the Athenians, not tourist "postcards", this hotel is for you. It is very close to two hills with a beautiful view. We always walked to the center so as not to miss any of the unexpected attractions. The Exarcheia district itself is wonderful and unique (you will appreciate it especially if you like the atmosphere of Camden Town in London, the charming streets of Porto or the artistic district of Copenhagen). It is safe and the locals are very nice. There are as many bookstores as cafes, restaurants and artistic graffiti on the walls (on one of them there is an inscription: Do not take photos, Exarcheia is not a museum). The hotel staff are masterful at being nice and helpful. All the positive comments we read before our arrival were confirmed. The room has everything you need, always clean, bathroom, fridge, air conditioning, and at the reception you can always get water, coffee, Coke and a friendly smile.

The location was amazing. The neighborhood is full of great little cafes, bars, and restaurants. It felt very safe to walk around and explore. Lots of younger people due to the university students living in the area. You get a great vibe for Athens and the Greek people. The staff are incredible. Will welcome you every time you come into the building and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The room we had was very spacious and clean. The bed was the most comfortable we had the whole month we were traveling. Would 100% stay here next time.

The Alter Athens is situated in the Bohemian area of Athens just near the university. This gives the suburb a very different vibe from the centre of the tourist focus city. Surrounded with cafes, restaurants parks and friendly locals. The host Aristos was wonderful. So helpful and friendly. Air conditioned room with a view of Mount Lycabettus was simple but clean and comfortable with everything you need. Lifts to the top floor made it easy after a long day of touring.

I ended up arriving at the hotel just after 3am due to my flight into the country being delayed, hotel was great regarding this and I was welcomed warmly by the manager when I did finally arrive. Throughout my stay, I was consistently treated with warmth and received helpful advice from the staff regarding local attractions and points of interest. The hotel boasts a convenient location within walking distance of many attractions and offers excellent metro connections for exploring places further afield. Being tucked away from the main tourist streets allowed me to discover affordable and authentic Greek food favoured by the locals. The rooms were impeccably clean and provided a comfortable stay.

Great small hotel located in walking distance to major attractions. Our room was extremely clean which is always our first priority when travelling. Room was well equipped with individual air conditioning unit. TV with BBC News which is unusual. Plenty of drinking water in the fridge in the room. Bed was comfortable and the bed sofa where our son slept was just the same quality as a regular bed which was a plus. The host Aristo as well as young lady at the Front office was extremely helpful and accommodating, making us feel very very welcomed. Free drinks and coffee available at reception at any time. The place is a perfect base for exploring Athens. Our only problem was that we only had one night. We would have liked to stay for another 2 or 3 nights to take advantage of Aristos hospitality, and tips on where to go and what to do.
