Superb location on the beach, swimming pool to cool off and free loungers at the pool for guests. Restaurant and bar was amazing and hotel staff were friendly. Evangalina at the reception was very helpful and welcoming. The balcony for the room overlooked the beach and we had great views of the sunset.

Shower temperature fluctuated easily when setting it and the pressure could have been stronger. We noticed non-guests using the pool facilities and people claiming loungers with their towels without showing up for majority of the day.

Beachfront property, and what a beach it is! Long, sandy, shallow waters (great for kids, but wonderful for any swimmer, because you can swim out as far as you want, and still be visible to lifeguards). Very calm seas (maybe we got lucky, but it looks like the bay is well protected, and unlikely to have major swells). The property itself is well cared for, maintenance is clearly done well. Good size pool, although if you want a longer by the pool you may need to get us early and claim one before all are taken. Great beachfront restaurant on the property - we could see how much people liked it, as it would fill up every night

Not much to improve, maybe add a few more lounge chairs by the pool, if the space allows.. I would suggest booking the beachfront room, because the ones that face the pool may be a bit noisy, and some of the rooms around the pool are half-level below the ground level. Not everyone may like that. Otherwise everything is great.

Great place at a calm bay with a nice pool and friendly staff. It is next to a public beach and park with a playground which we enjoyed. The bus to Chania leaves close by as well as the little train for excursions. We had a good apartment with a comfortable bed. Good food and amazing view from the restaurant.

The Air Conditioning system is a bit tiring as it takes a while to start and switches off even if just going to hang a towel for a minute at the balcony. Some basic things in the kitchen would be useful such as a sponge and a detergent to clean the dishes or the table. It would also be useful to place a kitchen towel to dry the dishes.

Wow what a place 👌 Literally could not believe how amazing this place is for the money. 4 adults and 3 children age between 10 & 13. The rooms were great, comfy beds, plenty of space & cleaned daily with fresh towells and bedding...and seaview...perfect. The pool was great, so quiet, we had the pool.nearly to ourselves all week. The restaurant was lovely with a gorgeous view, great food and very attentive & friendly staff. The beautiful sandy beach was literally about 20steps from the pool, really great location and meant the kids could do beach amd pool in the same day as many times as the wanted. The local '21' bus ran every 10mins from the carpark close by and was easy to navigate. We headed to various other beaches and Chania twice easily. Literally the most beautiful place and location with many restaurants and bars within walking distance. Great family location 5*

Absolutely nothing

We had a wonderful stay at the Golden Bay Hotel, which was the first hotel we stayed at during our trip. The staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating, allowing us to use the hotel's amenities and relax on the beach even though we arrived very early and couldn't check in yet. They also offered to hold our bags while we waited. In general, the staff were very nice and made us feel at home. Our bedroom was very spacious, featuring a little living room and a kitchen, and everything worked perfectly. Although we didn’t use the restaurant and swimming pool much, it’s clear that the hotel offers great facilities. With its prime location right in front of the beach, the Golden Bay Hotel provided a very pleasant stay and comes highly recommended.

Location is lovely so close to the beach. Convenient for bus in and out of Chania. Beach front restaurant next to hotel has great all day menu and super staff. Best to come out of season for use of pool as even a few small children dominate it. As others sea best to pay extra for seaview and quiet. The beach strip has some hotels with bars and independent restaurant. Plenty of restaurants behind the hotel. Would come back.

Conveniently located near the airport and offered pick-up/drop-off services to the airport. Note that transport to/from airport was free for one way but you needed to pay €15 for another transfer if you needed one. Facilities were comfortable and clean. A good value for the price. It’s a family owned business so the owner was very hospitable and even arranged transportation for my family and I to go into Athens (a 45 min drive away) for the evening. Of course, it was not free but a very accommodating gesture. Rooms were pretty large and accommodated my family of 3. It had a pretty stocked kitchen — if you wanted to cook something, it was equipped with the appliances to do so - fridge, pots/pans, oven, stove, etc.

Highly recommended ❤️ Location/ staff/ restaurant on site/ the playground 5 minutes walk/ the pool/ the beach/ the views. Our 4 year old boy absolutely loved it truly a family Location. Definitely not a party area we loved the tranquility, amazing views and sunsets, the staff kindness and the restaurant food. Thank you to everyone for accommodating us. My 79 years old mother in law had some issues with the sofa bed in our apartment. The reception staff and housekeeping were very kind and sorted out everything for us. Our apartment was cleaned daily everyone was so lovely. Is rare to fell so welcomed in a touristic place. We had also trips organised from the reception to Santorini absolutely amazing, to Balos, to Elafonissi beach. Must do the trips with the train/ station is very close to the hotel. Very handy also the minimarket. Taxi from the hotel to Chania old town were 10 euros each way / for 15 minutes drive. Many tavernas in Platanias area especially have a playground on site very helpful for families with toddlers. We loved everything 💜

The prices definitely went up comparing to last year due to Covid and War.Taxi drivers were saying Greece became second Dubai and there are not far price wise. For a family of 4 better value will be half board or all inclusive but you will miss the beauty of the tavernas/ family restaurants. 4.50 euros for an ice latte at the restaurant on site, 5 euros for a beer/ 10 euros for a cocktail, £15 euros Souvlaki , £7 euros Greek salad. A 20 minutes taxi drive from the hotel to Platanias was 20 euros one way only. With this prices All inclusive or a cruise for bigger families is better value to be honest.

Perfect location for a relaxing time in Crete, yet close enough to the buzzing Chania old town (though not walking distance). The ground level suite was perfect for three of us, the bedroom was huge and the bed very comfortable and large! We can’t wait to come back to this property in future, hopefully on a regular basis. The restaurant is superb, reasonably priced and truly some of the best meals we had in Greece - we found ourselves dining here every day for lunch.

Be aware that the beach beds are not free for guests of the property, however the beach is so pleasant (warm and shallow) that it is worth the minor cost (€10 per set)

self catering equipment could be better, found it difficult to feed a family of 4 with equipment provided sun loungers on the beach are low quality, cramped together and charged separately (not sure if the belong to the hotel or not?)
