I spent 5 nights at this hostel as a solo traveler on business. Wanting to save money on a long trip, I found its central location excellent—close to public transit. The facility is well maintained and cleaned daily. The dorm room is compact but private, featuring bed curtains, plugs, and a locker. Please bring your own lock and towel. Two bathrooms serve three rooms (max 18 people). I never waited long. There’s a kitchen and a small fridge, which is a big plus. You’ll pay a €5 cash key deposit. An important note! Accessing the room requires climbing stairs, as the one small elevator is shared. Breakfast is simple, a 4.5 out of 10: white bread, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, boiled eggs, jam, margarine, and a good coffee machine. Sports enthusiasts can visit a fully equipped training station with a €15 day pass, located just 500m away. Margaret Island offers a 5.5 km running loop, the Alfred Hajos Aquatics Complex, and bike rentals 2.2 km away—perfect for jogging. Overall, this hostel delivers affordable, safe, clean lodging in a prime location. I highly recommend it and give it 5 out of 5. Friendly, helpful staff. Very clean & modern, comfortable beds with curtains and rooms were spacious. The free breakfast was great too. Had a lift too which was really appreciated. Superb location, right next to bus/tram/metro lines.

2 showers/toilets for each set of 2x dorms & 2x private rooms didn’t seem like it would be enough but wasn’t too much of an issue. The kitchen/reception whilst big, could maybe have some couches added to help with that social element.

Very clean and good facilities. They were running donation based tours which was great. Free breakfast was great. Free dinner if you spend 4euros at the bar. Games night. Sports playing on tv. Lots of space to hanging out! They had a hostel WhatsApp group so other travellers were making plans together, great way to make friends. Great hostel and really good value for money and great atmosphere! Right by the train station so easy to get to from the airport.

I'm very happy with my recent stay at the Avenue hostel, and I'm glad to chose to stay here. The free breakfast is a lovely touch, and the dinner deal - where you can get a meal for €4 with the purchase of a drink - was a great value. My room was clean, with a comfortable bed that ensured a good night's sleep. The receptionists were professional and efficient, making check-in a breeze. I'd like to extend my gratitude to Csilla, who went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. Her hospitality was truly appreciated.   I also want to give a big shout-out to Norbi from the bar, who did an amazing job of keeping everyone well hydrated and entertained. His Kahoot nights were a highlight of my stay, and I'm grateful for the effort he put into making them so much fun.   Lastly, I'd like to mention Claudio, who consistently demonstrated a high standard of work ethic and was always friendly and approachable. (Gracias Claudio, eres un gran hombre.)    Overall, I'm so glad I stayed at the Avenue hostel, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay.

It is a smooth operation. Seems very organized. Each floor has a kitchen. Each bed has its own lockable shelf (lock not provided), plug & lamp along with a decent sized locker. Plenty of seating if you arrive early and want to hang out. No issues with wifi. A simple but solid breakfast that is replenished throughout the serving time so no issues for the snoozers.

checkin and checkout got a bit crowded but still didn’t have to wait long you need to pay a 5eur cash deposit upon checkin which is totally fair but obnoxious if you’re not expecting it and traveling without cash since everywhere in Budapest seems to accept card (not a real complaint)

Really nice place to be. Good environment, location and affordable prices. Staff was really helpful, Javier was so helpful. I also took the walking tour with Armendra. Simply the best. He was funny and shared great info about this city. Walking tour helped me get to know really nice people! So great!

The facilities were great, both in terms of offer and quality. Probably more comfortable to book a room with private bathroom. A free breakfast, although very basic, was a nice addition.

It’s a big hostel, so don’t expect some cozy vibe.

I would recommend the girl from Chile, the ginger one for her friendly attitude, personality . I would not recommend the other ginger working at reception, maybe she is local who came across grumpy often. I would also recommend the night shift guy the one with the beard, not a local chap, , who on 8th Jan helped me out liaising with the waiting taxi man who drove me to the airport just after 3 am. Thank you .

Some of the staff looked grumpy all the time . A smile every now and then would be good ... I know it is a job for them but at the end of the day, patrons are the ones paying staff wages.. The bed was a a bit squeaky whenever I was just moving while in bed. I would suggest to get thicker pillows as the ones you used are a bit too small and thin. Breakfast wise , the free coffee was not too good. and I would suggest if you can have honey and instant coffee available during breakfast time.

It's really easy to reach Hostel. It's a super clean, free breakfast and lots of activities. You can meet other travellers around the world. Bar is open and cheap. If u want to eat dinner at the hostel, u can pay just 4 euro, including drinks. It's near to everywhere. Actually I never need transport to reach anywhere. Of course, if u like to walk :) Norbi at the reception helped me to solve my little problem for airport shuttle, and I saw he knows how to manage problems of any guests...

For the first time in my life, i got cold because of the Ac, which is always open 24 hours and 25 degrees. Cold air unfortunately coming directly to my bed. When I talked to other guys at the different rooms, they said they had the same problem, but they couldn't close it. During the day, weather can be hot, but at night, temperatures drop down, so it's not too good, always keeping Ac at the same level. The room was like a fridge . Anyaway, the storage box in the room wasn't good at all. It was like a bird cage because of that always creates bad noise and it's disturbing who wants to sleep. Breakfast is a bit poor, and generally, people complaining, but it was free, so I can't say anything that is bad.
