The location of the hotel was outside the center, but the metro/bus/tram were everywhere and it was very easy to get everywhere in 10-15 minutes. Even though we are out all the time on vacation, I think you could spend a comfortable and nice time in the room. Enough space, clean and with comfortable beds. I recommend it for families and couples. Very kind staff, willing to serve you with any need or question, and with good suggestions for food and attractions. Delicious and complete breakfast.

More variety or changes in breakfast, it was almost the same every day. And I would like something traditional Hungarian ;)

If you're looking for luxury then you should have paid more and stayed elsewhere but if you're looking for a comfortable affordable stay in Budapest then the Baross does the job. There are two security doors to get into the property and then a lift to take you to the fifth floor but that does pretty much guarantee your safety on a night. There are some homeless people hanging around outside but there are in every major city and they don't bother you. The hotel is on the metro lines and bus/ tram routes so it's a perfect base for exploring the city plus the Bolt taxis are cheap and reliable. The guys on reception are really friendly and very helpful. Breakfast is basic but plentiful, pastries, cereals, some hot food and coffee.

I wasn't a fan of the coffee!

Breakfasts each morning between 07:00 - 10:00 were superb. The variety and quality of the foods and drinks were impressive and they were fresh and tasty too.The dining room was spacious, clean well designed and pleasant. The staff of the dinning room was attentive and did a great job. The staff of the respection was friendly and helpful. The location in terms of public transportation is perfect.

We stayed at the hotel from 28 of May till 1 of June. When we arrived at the room, we saw that the cooling system was disconnected. When we asked the hotel staff to connect it, we were told that due to the hotel policy, the weather is cold enough, so they can't connect it. It was very uncomfortable to be without cooling system due to the hot weather.

Breakfast was amazing (they have tepertő, something I could best describe as "fried pork fat", and if you are alllowed to eat pork - you definetly have to try this! Its not just unique but it was of very good quality), the beds were comfortable and we had a very good sleep. Shout-out to John and Jinky who were amazingly welcoming as hosts. The hotel has an inside terrace, a very typical "Budapest" thing ("udvarház") which also sparked my wifes interest. While I dont expect my fellow travellers to know every little detail about Hungarian life - we used to gather around with cigarettes and coffees in the morning there to exchange good morning wishes and do some small talk... fond memories of my earlier years, some I spent in Budapest. There are a few 24/7s open around the hotel but...

The hotel is around the Keleti Palyaudvar - which means a few dodgey/edgey people in the night hours. The Hotel cannot do anything about, and one cannot blame it on the hotel - this unfortunately is the Hungarian reality. I do not mean this as a discouragement for my fellow travellers out there - just a fair 'warning' to pay attention to their surroundings when going out or arriving at night.

Location excellent. You can see the hotel from the train steps. Many stores nearby. Check in: wonderful 24 receptionist. Vilmos checked us in and he was amazing. We were early, but he put our luggage in storage. We were able to go out and explore immediately. The vibe was very good from the beginning. The room was spacious with high ceilings. The room was immaculate. Storage area was adequate. Two night stands. Lots of outlets. The bed linens soft and the mattress perfect. A small work table and small dining table with two chairs. Plenty of lighting. The room was quiet and the heating AC unit worked flawlessly. The bathroom was very clean and the shower was roomy bb Room darkness good. Tall curtains covered the window adequately. Refrigerator and flatscreen TV. WiFi: excellent and fast. Breakfast was included. We will definitely stay here the next time we are in town.

At least one vegan option once you let them know you are a vegan.

The building was an older classical building (? Late 19th century) with some interesting features (entrance hall with old booth for doorman). The staff were absolutely delightful, especially the tall, dark haired young man with glasses, who was really committed to making our stay comfortable. The rooms were very comfortable. Unfortunately we had a problem with our heater (wouldn’t turn off). We were given advice, but after a difficult nights sleep, we told the same receptionist and after a few minutes, he arranged for us to have a different room which was also much quieter, facing the courtyard rather than the busy main road. The breakfast was great, lots of variety and fresh food. Will definitely stay again, and would love to revisit. Excellent position in terms of public transport.

Initially over hot (but this was remedied, see comment), opening windows because of the heat was a problem due to traffic noise below. I recommend a room facing the courtyard, very quiet and cooler. A little difficult to find, as although it is right opposite Keleti station, and has “Hotel” clearly displayed, the Baross hotel sign can only be seen when on the same street. The staff were exceptional, so any minor problems were quickly forgotten.

The staff is very attentive, kind and willing to help. Every morning between 07:00 to 10:00 you can enjoy a delicious breakfast which is included in the price. Every day the room is attended and cleaned including towels and sheets. The Location is great, because it actually is located very near a public transport hub,so in a matter of minutes you can get to Metro lines M2, M4 and a lot of bus lines. The price for the room is reasonable. The room is spacious. The room contains a fully equipped kitchen with microwave oven, regular oven, refrigerator and even inductive stove. Not far from the hotel there are several grocery stores.

The flexible hose of the spout in the bath was too short . The food table wasn't stable.

It was near Keleti station with an entrance practically outside the hotel and bus stop is right outside too. A bit difficult to find at first as the banner showing the hotel name is not directly at the entrance and I ended up walking into a bar looking for the entrance. The staff are great. Apparently the lift only stops at the courtyard area and the interior is only served by stairs. I had help with my luggage up and down the stairs so kudos to the staff for that. Good spread for breakfast and I could smell it from 7am from my room. They even provide non dairy and lactose free milk.

It is not stair free so those with problems climbing stairs need to take note. Hot water took some time to come on.

We liked most of the things, the room was clean, warm and comfortable. We had a great view from the main train station and we enjoyed the morning sun in our room. The location of the hotel was perfect, you can access it very easily if you travel by plane and also you can go around the city by any means of public transport. The staff was polite and helpful. We enjoyed our staying!

In the early morning, from the bathroom, you could feel the smell of the cooking, propably the breakfast. But if you close the door you avoide this smell. The breakfast was good but it is better to go before 9.00 as after that most of the things are finished. The only thing that i didnt like was the boiled eggs, they were cold and not fresh, boiled one or 2 maybe 3 days ago. Everything else was nice, fresh and tasty.

An ideal place if you have a transit and need to catch a train from Keleti Station (1-2 minutes on foot). There are grocery stores nearby, a 24-hour reception, a good breakfast, an elevator, cleanliness, and friendly staff. You can leave your belongings in a special storage room. Good free internet. Metro and other public transport stops are close to the hotel. It took us 20 minutes on foot to reach the Danube and the pedestrian area.

The only downsides – some noise from the street can be heard, and instead of a shower cabin, the room has a bathtub.
