Wonderfully designed with great facilities including sauna, gym and self-service luggage lockers. The bakery, restaurant and bar located within the hotel are also all fantastic, with amazing food and drink on offer. Staff were also incredibly friendly and accomodating. The location is also great, just across the road from bus stop #4, making it easy to get around on tours and to and from the airport.

The hot breakfast selection could be slightly improved, with only sausage, scrambled egg and baked beans on offer every day.

Walking distance to town, restaurants, stores, museum, shows, the pier. The hotel has a bakery, Deig, and a restaurant, Le Cock, downstairs, which is very convenient, especially when you have an early trip, or return late from a tour, hungry, tired, and don’t wan’t to keep walking to find a place to eat. Both concesions are superb. We fell in love with the donuts from Deigh. They are addictive ! Hotel decor is unique and beautiful. The sauna is a great addition to the facilities. The staff is friendly & helpful. We loved our stay at Exeter !

Rooms are very tight in space. Hardly no storage for belongings. Beds are super small, considering that my family is over 6ft tall. We rented 2 rooms with 2 individual beds in each one, since we are a family of 4. Our feet were dangling off the beds and the blanket hardly covered us. Mattresses need to be changed too. Two of the beds, had mattresses with holes you sank into them.

Unfortunately breakfast was not included in my reservation. However I did try the breakfast menu one day. It was very western appropriate and met my general expectations. I would have liked to see more Islandic traditional breakfast items, like barley and others unknown to me made available. For me part of the beauty of travel is experiencing local food. Most breakfast were taken from the bagel shop; I tried them all. They were fantastic!

There was no room service card in my room to notify staff of desired attention. Room service was only received 1 time during my 9 day stay, which was fine, but I ran out of coffees, requiring trips to the front desk.

This hotel not only met our expectations but exceeded them! The hotel has a modern, industrial and cook vibe that suits all ages. The location is excellent right near the centre and across from the harbour. The staff (especially Ana & Alena) were so welcoming and friendly. I gave them a heads up that it was my partner's 40th birthday present and upon arrival in our room there was a sweet message and chocolate bar waiting for him. We also got engaged whilst we were out there and again, once the girls heard about this, a bottle of wine on ice with some beautiful fresh tulips were put in our room. I can't thanks the staff enough for making our stay so special. Apart from the reception girls, all staff were so friendly and chatty. The room was lovely and comfy (my only criticism was that there's isn't a huge amount of space for clothes but we managed) and the breakfast was great with plenty of choice and space. There's an excellent bakery on site too!

Amazing stay at this awesome hotel. Loved the decor, loved the sauna, loved the bakery that's downstairs. Super helpful and friendly staff - Alice in particular was amazing and gave use some really great local tips and was just generally a very lovely person and very welcoming to the hotel. Can highly recommend and would love to stay here again in the future.

We stayed 2 nights but our room didn't get serviced - unsure if this is the norm or not? We were out all day so only found out it hadn't been done upon arriving back late that night (and too late to bother the hotel reception with the information). It didn't hugely bother us as was a short stay but just wanted to make note of it....

Very modern. Great shower 🚿 with lovely products. Comfy & cosy room. Nice bar area & great bakery downstairs.

Coffee machine with tiny cups, I took a mug from dining room to use as I drink mostly tea. The large mixed bin takes up too much room, maybe remove a chair or get a smaller bin? Towels were bit worn & frayed but did the job. Breakfast there was choice, but the cheese .... very processed & unpleasant. Site of toaster & bread all in one place: please re think 🤔 as often couldn't get to bread with folk waiting on "warm bread" as it didn't really toast!!

Close to the harbour. Right in the centre. Room lovely and has a window box so u can look up / to the sides to see the northern lights.

We have stayed here for a night then did a tour then returned for a further night stay. We had an early pick up/ flight And were leaving at 6am. We asked if we could get a bit of breakfast before we left. (When we checked in the day before). We were told this wasn’t possible as they needed to have told the bakery 24 hrs before departure. When we checked out, we waited in the bar area but nobody offered us a drink. Felt this was disappointing after two single nights booking at the hotel.

The shower was really great as were the products to use. The beds were small but comfortable and very quiet. The conservatory is beautiful. The hotel is in a great spot near to bus stop 4 with lovely views of the harbour so close. A walk into town was not far at all. We liked the large lockers which we could leave our bags in after check out. It was convenient being able to come back and get the bags ourselves later in the day.

The twin beds were very narrow for the price of the stay, and similarly the breakfast could have been a slightly better standard for how much expensive the stay was.

Great communication before we arrived. Location excellent , easy to walk to sites in the city and also to use bus pick up points. Good selection of food at breakfast. Bakery on site really useful for food to take out on trips. Room was well equipped, always warm and comfortable. The whole hotel is kept very clean, staff always around cleaning and tidying communal areas. Coffee machine in reception area great for a quick drink before heading out and when returning to hotel. Good selection of food in the restaurant attached to the hotel , good service and reasonably priced. This is not a luxurious hotel, it is quirky/edgy/industrial design and may not suit all tastes. However we really liked it and the Exeter does everything you need exceptionally well. Would definitely stay again.

Some areas of our room could have had a brighter light …but not really an issue.

The Exeter is a nice stay, however as we’ve visited for years we’ve watched amenities somewhat decline. The location at 101 Harbor cannot be beaten as it’s convenient to downtown, but more quiet. The breakfast is a convenient add on.

The bathroom sink was clogged and wasn’t fixed despite bringing it to the staff’s attention. Our previous stay in May had issues with the room as well. In the winter, the rooms seem extraordinarily dark and depressing. I get it’s a vibe, but a bit outdated. We’ve stayed with Exeter at least once a year when we visit Iceland and I think we will be giving another property a try next time.
