Loft Hostel is a great choice right in the heart of Reykjavík. You’ll be in the middle of everything, cafes, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, and all the main tourist spots are just steps away. The staff was super friendly and professional throughout my stay. The room I stayed in was spacious, the bed was comfortable (though the pillow could be a bit better), and the in-room shower was nice. Everything was very clean, which I really appreciated. One of the highlights is definitely the top-floor bar/café. It’s a great space to relax, meet people, and enjoy the view. During the day, it’s chill and cozy, don’t miss their chocolate croissants, they’re fantastic! At night, the vibe picks up as both guests and locals gather for drinks, making it a fun spot to wind down or keep the evening going. I also loved their smart access system, no cards or keys needed. You just use a code to get in and out, which was super convenient and hassle-free.

The main downside for me was the hostel’s quiet hours, which officially start at 11:30 pm. In my opinion, that’s a bit too late, especially if you’re hoping for a good night’s sleep before an early morning. And to be honest, this quiet time isn’t always respected, particularly on Friday and Saturday nights when the bar is buzzing. If you’re a light sleeper or looking for a more low-key place, this could be something to consider.

I absolutely loved my stay here. The reviews regarding the noise made me a bit skeptic but am very happy I did not change accommodation. You receive a message with all the codes prior to arrival which means you can check in without passing by the reception (4th floor, elevator available). The code is your personal key which unlocks the front door, the door to access your floor and the room. Despite the reception not being 24/7, it feels safe. The room is spacious and has a bathroom inside the room + only one in the hallway. The shower is great; good water pressure and temperature. No towels included. The location is perfect; right in the city center and walkable from the busstation (airport) and easy to reach the meeting point for day tours. The noise at night? I was on the third floor and did not hear anything over the weekend. A snoring roommate is louder than any outdoor noise, even for light sleepers. The staff is spontaneous and support Palestine 🇵🇸❤️

Not knowing you have to make up your own bed was a bit of a disappointment upon arrival after a long travel day. There were some yellow stains on the bedding as well + no trash can in the rooms; only 4 outside to recycle everything (which is a good thing). On the last morning I woke up with an eye nerve infection and lost 50% of my sight which means !!! I have to return to Iceland to see more of the stunning nature and beautiful sights. Pro tip if you havent seen the northern lights: book an evening flight and you will catch the lights from above. I will definitely stay here again and can recommend it highly to everyone 😍

The process for the stay was seamless as I was informed of the bed location and entry codes before arrival. The staff were very helpful and the facilities are very nice, in particular the common room which was great for socializing with other travelers. I completely enjoyed my stay.

I prefer dorm beds that have curtains, which these do not have, to close off to reduce light and sound while sleeping and overall privacy. A couple travelers brought their own light blankets to put up as a block. That being said it was not a big issue for me and my room mates were polite and respectful.

Amazing location right downtown! Loved the rooftop bar and the different events every night. Also appreciated the free coffee. Very reasonably priced compared to a lot of accommodations in Reykjavik. Would stay again!

The place could have been cleaner. Bathrooms were ok but I don't think the dorm shelves had ever been cleaned. The kitchen was also very dirty. I missed proper lockers and bed curtains. A bit annoying also to have to make the bed yourself on arrival. The place can get a bit loud, but that's also the price you pay for being in the downtown area.

Sometimes the floor gets wet after someone uses the washroom, so a wiper would help keep it dry. 2. The bathroom sink only fits small bottles for filling water. Medium and large bottles don’t fit, and the kitchen sink is often not clean or easy to use. It would be helpful to have another place to get water in the common area. 3. Please add more hooks or hangers near the beds. Most of the hangers are already used for other people’s clothes, so there’s no space to hang my things. A bit more expensive than others, but great hostel. Self check-in makes life easier, though probably not too safe if people share codes. Your bed is assigned from the beginning, might be a good idea to write your preference in the comments while booking. There's a rooftop bar with affordable prices. I didn't have opportunity to use the kitchen, but there was a lot of food left by previous guests which you could use for free. The rooms are dark, and there's a shower/toilet inside the female room for 8 people. Great location.

Towels were not included in price, so arrange it earlier if you arrive late as the reception closes at 23:00. Because of the central location it was very loud at weekend night, even with ear plugs. Not much space to the ceiling for top beds.

Very nice location in the city centre. Close to Rainbow Street and attractions pick-up locations. The communal areas and facilities are a plus. It's got a toilet/bath in each room

The location is fantastic! Everything is within walking distance. If you are planning to enjoy just the city, you can not beat this location. I found Icelandic culture warm and welcoming but it is an acquired taste. People do not smile and greet like the US but they indeed have the best intentions and are always willing to help you. Please be patient with the staff at the hostel as they go above and beyond to help! Most people at this hostel were younger and party lovers. I also met other amazing solo travelers.

Location is a double-edged sword :) If you are planning on getting a good sleep on Friday or Saturday night - DO NOT stay in this hostel those two nights. This is in the middle of a party town and you will not get a good sleep. Book the hostels that are closer to the big church and they are peaceful. The hostel can improve their cleanliness routine a bit more.

Great vibe. Nice hangout area, excellent location if you are booking tours as you wander 2 minutes down the road for the bus pickup stand. Beds were nice (no cutrains though). Bar is also good with deals throughout the week to lessen the cost of expensive incredible rejkavik.

Anticipate this is hostel that everyone is leaving early in the mornings for tours, so lights will go on at 5/6am and people will be making lots of noise. Also everyone is exhausted from the tours so chances of snoring are higher. Brig earplugs and eye masks. :D So if you want to relax, maybe a private is better for you.
